Matt sighed and stopped. He knew she was letting him win! She wouldn't even pass him when he slowed down!

Mina's head tilted. "Seriously. You want my help?"

Annie sighed and looked back at him. She cantered the rest of the way and halted to a stop a foot away from the lake. She gave her horse a pat and glanced at Matt over her shoulder. "Slow poke!" she called.

Xavier looked down at her and sighed. "I think I can manage." he mumbled and nodded before walking off.

Matt slowly made his way to the lake. He called out to her,"You were going to let me win! Even after I said a fair race!"

"Don't be a stick in the mud," said Mina cheerfully. She smiled and pushed a hand through her wavy, black hair, bounding up to stand beside him, matching his stride.

Annie looked back at him, blinking her sea-green eyes. "I was!" she called. "I wanted you to! I knew you could do it!"

"I am not a stick in the mud." Xavier grumbled, glancing over at her. He looked forward again, his eyes narrowed.

"You sure seem like it," chirped Mina. She nudged him. "C'mon. Lighten up."

"Stop touching me." Xavier growled, looking over at her. He sighed, shaking his head.

Matt shook his head disagreeing. "I wanted to win against you when you gave your best and my best can beat yours. Not like this."
