Shaw shrugged. "No, not really. I think my parents were in the midst of finding someone, though. , of course, had other ideas..." he trailed off slowly. "Chosen love isn't true love. I wasn't in it for chosen love. But my big answer is no, I wasn't. I didn't have a beautiful wife or girlfriend waiting for my return when the war was over, if thats what you inferenced."

Lilly laughed and stopped playing with his hair. She wanted to see his reaction, sure that it would be cute.

Ketan frowned when he saw Alex's skin start to pale, finally.

Ryda nodded, since that was exactly what she meant. "It's just that most people back then had that type of stuff, didn't they? That's what it says in all the textbooks.." She was actually relieved that she didn't have that type of competition, even if they were dead.

"Some of us did." Shaw corrected. "Some were too poor. Some sold their daughters for marriage so they could feed their younger children. My family was... wealthy... so we didn't ever have to do that. Of course, I have no idea what happened to my sisters." Shaw bit his lip, looking in her eyes. "Except that they're dead."

Lilly laughed and stopped playing with his hair. She wanted to see his reaction, sure that it would be cute.

Ketan frowned when he saw Alex's skin start to pale, finally.

Crayon opened his eyes and stared straight at her, "Why did you stop.. ?" he whined, quietly.

Alex released a small breath and opened her eyes a little. They flicked from blue to red every now and then.

Ryda nodded and sighed softly, kissing his cheek gently. "I'm sorry about that." She said, biting her lip and hoping he wouldn't show too much emotion. She'd be lost on what to do them.

Ketan watched her with a worried expression. "Alex?" He asked softly.

Lilly smiled and started doing it again. "Does that feel better?" She asked him with a laugh.

"Hmm." Alex groaned, quietly.

Crayon purred once she started up again, "Yess.." he whispered, not being able to say much more.

Allie smiled "Ready to go?" she asked him softly.

“Yes,” Quinton said with a smile and stood up. He placed the money for the meal plus a tip on the table then held his hand out for her.

Peryn looked over at Thana and frowned slightly, wishing there was something she could do to make the girl smile. "Thana?" She asked softly, motioning for the girl to come over here.

Thana looked up from the ground and over at Peryn, she narrowed her eyes in a playfully suspicious manner but stepped around Gawain and went over to the vampire. “Yea?”

Kiah slithered over, making no noise whatsoever, thanks to Taras being wrapped around her. She watched Cavan talk to Eztli in silence, not wanting Eztli to freak out at the fact that she was present.

Eztli glanced at Kiah, not needing noise to know she was there. She didn’t react to the other girl’s presence but another angry growl rippled out of her throat as Cavan reached towards her.
Cavan didn’t even flinch but moved a little closer.
Eztli dropped the man and took a step forward over him and snapped her teeth at Cavan. He twitched slightly, but continued to move forward. She nearly froze as he inched closer, pure warning in her stillness and he knew it, but didn’t pull away. When he was only about an inch away from her muzzle another snarl, more violent than any so far, ripped from her throat and she and shot forward, sinking her long canines through his hand. Cavan winced but didn’t utter a noise of pain, he had been expecting this turn of events and was used to it, already had plenty of scars on his hands from moments like this. His wince turned to a smile as she released him just as suddenly as she’d attacked him and she stumbled backwards, shaking her head and running her tongue over her teeth, the strange taste of his blood overpowering that of the human’s. She backed up against a tree, Cavan stepped over the dead hunter and following slowly, stopping when she looked up at him with fear in her eyes. “Eztli,” Cavan said with a smile as if in a happy greeting.
“Ca-cavan,” she stuttered then looked away, she shifted back to her human form, and sighed, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be, you just saved mine and Kiah’s life, so thank you.”
She didn’t look at him, didn’t say anything. She was still running her tongue over her teeth as if trying to scrape the taste of his blood off her tongue. After a moment she said, “That’s really dangerous, it’s going to get you killed someday.”
“It’s always worked before,” Cavan replied with a shrug, wrapping his hand with a roll of gauze he pulled out of his pocket.
“Yea, well, someday it’s not going to register and I’m not going to be able to pull away. It’s hard enough for me to not go after you right now.”
“Well, that day’s not today, so stop freaking out about nothing,” he grinned at her as if he truly thought that the risk of his life just to bring her back to herself wasn’t a big deal.
Eztli sighed and kicked a rock.

Allie smiled and stood up, taking his hand lightly and following him out.

"But thats the past, right?" Shaw said with a smile, letting out a breath he had held. "Gotta move on. Tell me about yourself!" He smiled genuinly then, looking generally delighted at the thought.

Evan looked uncomfortable, shifting his weight from foot to foot slowly. "I don't know..."

Vendetta: She smiled and wrapped her arms around him. "You will be fine. And better yet, I'm coming with you too."
