"Do you trust me?" Anna asked softly.

"Of course I do." Kyler told her softly. He didn't know where this conversation was going and it wasn't likely he wanted to.

Anna sighed softly as she hugged him tightly, she wasn't going to pry so she remained silent.

"Why do you ask? It is okay to ask questions." Kyler told her.

Anna looked at him, "I do not want to hurt you." she replied softly.

"Just ask. It will not be you hurting me but the memories." Kyler replied.

Anna looked at him silently, "Why do you always shut down when something happens?" she asked softly.

Kyler sighed. It was a question he had always dismissed before. He looked into her eyes, "It is my way of dealing with hurt. Shut it out and it can't do anything to you."

Anna nodded as she huged him tightly, "Then why do you shut me out?" she asked so quietly it was almost inaudible.

"I have always done that. No matter who is around me when it hits I push them away. Building walls around myself and blocking everybody out." Kyler said quietly.
