Ash bit his lip. Things hadn’t gone well—but she was safe. And she could leave now. He stared at his shoes.

Joe looked at him with a raised eyebrow. She stood up and again looked at him I'n the pitch black of the room. "I'm leaving don't worry" she grumbled, no really knowing how the heck she got there at all.

“If you want to,” Ash said hopefully. “It’s not safe. You could stay here . . .” He flinched. He was practically begging.

Joe blinked about three times before she came to the reality that he had asked her to stay. "i, um, ok?" she answered with a small smile.

Ash awkwardly kissed her cheek. He wasn’t sure whether they were back on, or whatever. Strange and complicated relationship. He didn’t know if he could bring himself to tell her he loved her again.

Joe put a hand to her cheek like the first time he kissed her cheek. She felt small and wanted to pass out but kept herself up. She put a hand out to him to do a hand shake even though what she wanted to do was hug him. "friends?" she asked hopefully.

Ash nodded reluctantly and took her hand. “Friends . . .”

Before Joe could even think she pulled him into a hug happily and smiled gently, her head nuzzled between his chin and chest. "friends do this...right?"

Ash let a small smirk curl around his lips as he put his arms around her waist. “Yup. All the time.”

"good" Joe said and then moved away. "um i should probably get to bed now. I mean i am suppose to be sleeping now. I'm nocturnal. Remember?" she said as she looked up at him with a hand behind her neck.
