Kayleca sat down at the desk in the back of her clothes boutique. She went through her mail and saw a large manila envelope with the Hunger Games seal on it. She opened the letter and the information for her first time being a Hunger Games designer for a tribute. She wondered which District she would be assigned and she sketched out her ideas for different districts.

Nico, District 9
Nico walked through the busy streets of his town, and made his way towards home. When he opened the door, his sister rushed out, taking him by surprise. "Hey mom, where's Deline going?" Nico called. "Oh, her cat escaped and she's freaking out," Nico's mom called as she heated some water over the fire.

Rayne waited for him to say something and when he did her eyes lit in amusement. He probably just realized that no body would ever try anything on a peacekeeper. She played along and said quietly "Why thank you but, my home is the other way. I am going to my aunt's house to care for her plants." She felt shy all of a sudden and she looked down at her shoes before her face flushed. "Ugh, I am so, so stupid!" she thought.

"Well, I'd still like to accompany if you, if I'm not a bother." He said, smiling at her with his dorky, crooked smile. He ran a hand nervously through his flaming red hair, still watching her from the corner of his eye. Rayne was very beautiful, in his opinion, and in most other men's opinions. He knew a lot about what everyone thought, for he worked at the bar, so he heard secrets of the drunks when they had a little too much to drink. He looked back up at Rayne. He was nothing spectacular, in fact, he was a lot less than that. Gangly body, a slanted smile, and eyebrows that looked like two caterpillars. But he was the sweetest, funniest man you could ever meet. He smiled at her once again, hoping she would allow him to go with her. Watering plants sounded extremely boring, but being with her would make it all worth it.

~District 1~Onyx Meeker~16~Male

With both girls close to him, he said, "Well, we're off!" and they walked. It was funny to Onyx how each girl held onto his arm. Lux's was almost a death grip, except there wasn't near as much tightness involved. She did have her fingers curled around Onyx's bicep, almost pressed against his entire arm. Her body was rather closer than Avery was. Avery's grip was was light, only elbows touching, but their fingers were intertwined. Onyx laughed as boys his age gave him hateful stares. He even heard one guy say, "I wish I was him..." to his friend. Doesn't everyone? He asked himself.

Lenna Williams, District 3
Lenna, on the next evening, waited for her dad to come home. Finally, he stepped into the apartment, defeated. "I didn't get much today." he told his daughter. He passed her a small packet of mints. "Here's dinner." Lenna's stomach rumbled. She would eat these in minutes, and all that they would do to her was give her good breath. She decided to save them for the Reapings.

Lenna quickly realized that they needed food. and lots of it. Sneaking past her dad, who was now reading the newspaper, she exited the apartment. Walking down the street, she finally made it to the place she needed to go- the mayor's office. It was her birthday, so this was her last chance to do what she was about to do.

"Tesserae, please." she told the tall man at the desk. "Two of them." The man wrote her name down, and then looked it up on his computer. He found her, and gestured to a large bin of tessera rations in the back room. She went in, clutching the two large bags. Four times, she told herself. That's not too bad.

Starr Herriot, District 4
Starr wandered back into her house, going up the stairs. She let her feet take her where they wanted her to go. Absentmindedly, she made her way into a small room at the end of the hall, and opened the door. A moth flew into her face. She jumped backwards, waving her heads, and opened her eyes properly. She suddenly knew where she was.

It was the storage room. Her dead sister's old room. Signs of her still lingered- the pink wallpaper adorned with mermaids, the small purple bed, the rocking horse covered with seashells they had collected together. When she was alive, Starr's 7 year old sister, Beryl, had been everything. Now she was gone. Starr blinked away tears, showing a rare sign of emotion. She clutched her sand dollar necklace, remembering her sister holding it up to her, saying 'Look what I found!' Quickly, she exited the room.
