Commoner -
Character Name: Clara Steels
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Job: She doesn't have one at the moment, although she used to be a stablehand (while in disguise as a boy)
Personality: Clara is a quiet girl who is always plotting, planning, and thieving. She despises being told what to do and is very stubborn, which makes it very hard for her to accept reason even when she knows she is wrong. Clara does have a soft side however, especially for horses and all other animals. While she worked at the stables, she was often seen handing out scraps to stray dogs and cats.
Physical Description: She's a brunette and lean, about 5'4 with violet eyes. She used to be very self conscious about them as other children would make fun of her, but as she got older, she decided that their opinions didn't matter. Her hair goes down to her shoulders, and her short bangs end just above her eyebrows, covering her forehead.
Weapon of Choice: Her fists. She learned how to fight from the other stable boys, especially since they preferred to pick on her as she was the smallest "boy." They also liked to bully her because she was always the quickest to finish her assigned jobs and still did good work. (She often got to leave the stables early while the others had to stay behind to finish their tasks.)
Interesting Details: Clara only steals what she thinks she needs. She doesn't stockpile food or anything like that. Not that she'd have anywhere to keep it.
Natural Abnormality: Her eyes, I guess. They're the result of a very uncommon gene mutation, but I doubt the people of Nightingale know very much about biology yet :3
Pet: A horse named Freedom. He's a chestnut gelding with a darker mane/tail, a white blaze on his face, and three white socks. Two on his hind feet, and one on his front left. Clara named him so because she stole him from the stable she used to work at and used him to escape.
History: Clara was "raised" mainly by her drunk of a father as her mother died when she was five. She's used to doing things for herself since thats how she grew up. To make her own money, she got a job as a stablehand at a nearby barn when she turned twelve. Clara had to dress up as a boy, however, as she knew the stable manager was sexist towards girls. She grew tired of her father's ways (although she felt no affection towards him as his daughter), and decided that she would go off on her own. Clara had been taking care of herself for nearly a decade anyways. So, she saved up her earnings from the stable and the odd jobs that she had worked around town, and stole Freedom from his stall in the middle of the night. Clara rode out of town with only her savings and her traveling cloak.
Theme Song: I can't think of anything, but I might edit this later.
Quote: "You punch like a girl."
Other: She is fascinated with magic, and although she cannot use it, she is most commonly found around others who are magical. rainbow leopard spots

((Heh heh, Clara Steels, Clara steals. :3 ))

Taylor looked over at and smiled a bit,"I can believe in who I want," Dhe heard his laugh, but she surprisingly didn't cringe,"You should believe in yourself as well, I do. I'm not sure why I do, I haven't found my exact reasoning, so now I'm heading on instinct." She clasped her hands and rubbed them a bit and laughed a bit. She heard him coughing and winced, then she looked out at the men, then to Alec, begging that he find some cough medicine and he nodded. He stood up ans went to the front of his cell, then called,"Hello?~ Can we get some cough medicine over here? The mans gonna die of that if anything." Taylor looked at Neil,"Im young, I know that, but something I will never stop doing is fighting. Don't stop fighting, it helps a lit when youndont stop, it gives you something.... Unbelieveable." She smiled and closed her eyes and started to rub her temples again,"Dont. Give. Up. That's one a my mottos.. That's how I found you." She allowed her face to then fall into rhe palms of her hands as she was totaled and exhausted.

Jica stood over James, waiting for the moment that he wasn't paying attention. He had too, he needed that hat.

((sorry but that's all I can think up for jica the ferret))

Neil~
"Now... You're the one spitting... Nonsense," Neil growled between violent, convulsing coughs. He closed his eyes tightly and pressed more weight against his palms.
"You have the mindset of a child." The coughing had ceased for a moment, giving him enough time to glance back up at Taylor. His expression was hard to read. He looked relatively... Sad? Another mood-change? He sure was messed up in the head. No emotion seemed to stick for long. Shockingly, he looked even paler than he had before.
He let out a slow sigh and drew his gaze away from the girl, refocusing on the cold stone beneath him through narrowed eyes. The terrifying man clenched his fists and made a sharp hissing sound; though whether out of pain, misery, or contemplation was unknown. Neil's reason revealed itself only moments later.
"Dammit, kid," His voice cracked drily. "Take my word for it. There are some people who just..." The words broke off. For a few seconds, he was quiet. "There are some people who just need to give up." Neil's voice was soft, which was odd coming from him. Normally, he was either shrieking in rage or talking naturally loud. Even recently, he was speaking as harshly as possible, even though he was forced to whisper because of his condition.

He let more silence settle in the cell, then added quietly, "Seven years. Kid, that's a long time. That's how long I've been without cause... Without purpose." Neil inhaled shakily. "That's how long she's been gone."
It was slightly amusing to think about Neil, a monstrous, demonic person, on the verge of tears. But actually seeing him so was heart-wrenching. His barren words were painfully hollow and true.
The only possible reason why he was so driven through such a variety of emotions was because of the current situation. To Neil, there was no hope left. He truly believed that he was going to die there, in the cold, heartless, shameful prison.

((Accepted. ^^ >> EDIT: :U Omg. I see wat u did thur.

Jiiiicaaaaaaaaaa~ :B Such an adorable name. But since Jica is merely an extention of one of your characters, his posts don't need to be long.))

Taylor listened to Neil as she clenched her fists then heard his voice softening greatly and she looked over. His face, she could see only part of what horrible experiences he had. She winced not used to it, but she softened, listening. Then he heard the 'her' part and she thought, So... He had lost someone he loved as well. She then said,"You judge me for," She swallowed, the memories filling her head,"For remorsing my fathers death, for trying to," She looked back at him and stared into his eyes dissappointedly almost, but not quite,"You same I'm wrong, that I shouldn't remorse. That others have seen worse days." She shooked her head and let her head fall back on the wall. She thought she had connected something and she said,"You may have to give up Neil, but that's not a good enough reason." She shook her head weakly.

Taylor knew the pain of losing the one closest to you, but he was right. She had a friend to comfort her. She had an easier life. But she glared over at him,"You call us desperate... All I've learned... Is that," She net his eyes and started to stand slowly, painfully,"That I shouldn't stop, i'd rather go wild and not stop fighting rather than go crazy." she smiled, like she wasn't insulting him,"You said you didn't ever have someone to help you afterwards, right?" She laughed and shook her head,"Youre an idiot, cause you do now! I know you don't understand me when I say this but," She flashed Neil a reckless grin,"You ain't gonna die so long as I continue to breathe. And you ain't alone anymore you dumbass. Quit self-loathing, isn't that what you tf me? It's hard ain't it." She wasn't proving her point, but she was showing that she could relate. And she was standing fully now and shuffling towards him slowly across the cell. She crouched down beside him and said,"And I intend to help while I can, don't yell at me, but you can stay like that, you're killing yoursf by doing that, especially withball of the mold on the floor. And if don't let me help you up easily, i'll rip you up mercilessly. Which would you prefer?" She asked, brows raised, caring glttered in her eyes.

Neil~
"Quite trying to persuade me, girl..." He spoke the diminutive title raggedly, venom dripping from his words. "I have my reasons. Everything I do is for a reason." Everything that he consciously did was for a reason. Everything else often happened when he was on a mindless rampage. Luckily, his newfound 'acquiantances' hadn't been around for long enough to see him snap. But if they kept prodding at him, he would lose it. He had come close to exploding into a bout of bloodlust quite a few times since he had met Taylor, many of the causes revolving around her. Truly, she was nothing but a headache to Neil. Like a disease. The crazed man had enough to deal with, and he wasn't about to accept her 'invitation' for 'friendship.'
In an attempt to make Taylor leave him alone, Neil glanced away and replied, "The latter... Have fun ending this useless excuse for a body in which I am so pitifully trapped. Who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky and end up in one of the lesser rings of hell." He flicked his ice-cold focus back to her and rasped, "And I have half a mind to drag you down with me. Now leave me be."

What a lunatic. Just when one thought that they might be getting through to him, the man just jumped back over the line dividing emotions. A sad creature, really. Merely twenty-six years of age, and already out of his mind. Nothing more than an animal, snarling at those who approach him. Damn, this guy had some serious problems.

And even worse than his lack of lucidity was the fact that no one had really asked meaningful questions. Clearly they didn't want to know him badly enough to ask. They just acted on a whim, thinking that he would react kindly to ignorance. Neil was no shallow person. He was kilometers deep. And in order for one to comprehend him, they needed to know more. They needed to inquire instead of assuming. With Neil, assumptions were almost always wrong.

But apparently no one would ever get to meet the real human that lay at the bottom of the chasm. The chasm that separated Neil from the true world, and the true world from Neil. Without sacrificing a few questioning words, how would anyone be able to understand who he really was?
All he wanted was for someone to know. To care. To actually understand. And, at the moment, that someone was most definitely not Taylor. She thought she knew. She ignorantly thought she understood. But she didn't. The girl obviously could only see the Neil that he had come to be, as that was all that could be seen. Sure, they somewhat knew of his past. But not much. Not enough to realize that he was actually once a sane, relatively good person. But now, no matter how much Taylor denied it, Neil was no 'good person.' He was a monster, and that had to be accepted.

But every monster has a story. Every monster has a reason.

Clara

"I caught her stealing from the bakery again, sir." Clara was being held captive by an officer, her hands handcuffed behind her back. Damn it, she cursed in her head. "Clara, Clara, Clara... What ever are we going to do with you?" Said an older man, kneeling down so that his eyes met hers. Clara glared at him but stayed silent. They would just put her in a cell for a couple days, until they ran out of available cells and released her. These people were always catching people with magic, so they didn't have very much room. A bunch of idiots, all of them. The man stared at Clara for another moment before straightening up. "Go lock her up," he ordered, before striding away. With Clara in front, the younger officer showed her to a cell that was surprisingly empty. He undid her handcuffs before shoving her roughly inside the cell and clanging the door shut behind her. Sighing, Clara sat down on the cold ground as she listened to the officer's footsteps fade. She knew Freedom was alright - she always left him in a secluded patch of field that no one ever ventured into. Besides, he never let anyone else near. Looking at the cell across from her, she spotted a male and a female who looked like they were having a deep conversation. "Hello," she greeted, noticing that the taller of the two, the male, looked quite ill. She hoped she wasn't interrupting anything, but Clara always tended to make friends with other people in jail. It wasn't like there was anything else to do.

((She's referring to Neil and Taylor :3 ))

Taylor winced, she figured there was no case to argue with him any longer. She felt pained to see him in this condition, she didn't want to hear him say that. She shook her head sadly and she gave up on trying to help him sit up and she sat beside him. When he finished there was a fresh silence. Then Taylor felt a slght curiousity overwhelm her as she pulled her knees to her chest, waved to the girl, then hugged herself a bit from the cold.

She broke the silence by asking,"Neil?.... Who was she?" Refering to whom he spoke of, she wanted to try and care. But ahe found it hard when she knew nothing. Ao she decided her last ditch effort with an act of kindness and compassion.

Plus, she's been growing more and more curious of this, her, ever since she met Neil.

Neil~
The man was slightly surprised by her sudden change of tactic. Also dismayed. And visibly sad. He studied the girl's face for a quiet moment through narrowed eyes, then glanced away with a sigh. Neil's shoulders fell dramatically; he basically went limp.
Taylor had questioned about an extremely sensitive topic. One that Neil preferred to avoid sharing. Though for some reason, he was driven to explain. Surely it was noticeable, but the man always spoke softly when ever mentioning Elizabeth. He almost appeared to be lost in a different place. A different time. A better time. Neil closed his eyes tightly and bit his lip in silent grief, agonizing memories resurfacing in his mind.
Pain exploded in his core, both from raging sickness within his tattered body, and because of the waves of aggrivating emotion that scourged his mind. He flinched and gingerly brought a hand to his stomach, the epicenter of the burning discomfort that pulsated through him. Still, he looked pale. Almost like he was about to heave.

"She was my best friend..." Neil managed raggedly after a moment of thick silence, not staring directly at anything in particular. How he wished he could label her with a more intimate title. But she didn't share his romantic feelings. It was likely that she didn't even know that he loved her in the way that he did.
And now that she was gone, he would never be able to tell her.

Apparently, he hadn't noticed the recent newcomer or her greeting. That, or he just didn't have enough energy to care.

Taylor waited, to see if he would share. She assumed he wouldn't, but then he said it and she winced. Felt bile rise in her throat in ultimate surprise and sadness for the man. She looked at Neil, searched his eyes for a moment to see if he was lyig... But his eyes.. They were a lot like hers when she spoke of her past and she winced.

She bit her lip, then asked,"W-Was she nice? Was she pretty?" She felt her voice soften, grow gentle and kind. She was more curious and she asked,"What was her name?" And smiled, she must of liked Neil. I wonder ehat he was like that time so long ago...
