Lexi took her hands out of her pockets, resting them against her stomach made the bruises hurt. She sighed quietly, then smiled softly, "Um, well, I'm kind of good at art, but I don't count that as a class, it's fun for me." She glanced down the hallway, wondering if her teacher would send someone looking for her soon. She looked back to Arah, shaking her head softly as she offered to pay, "Oh, you don't have to pay.. I, uh.." She searched her pockets, pulling out two quarters. She laughed lightly, "Well, apparently, I have.. two quarters." She rubbed the qaurters together for a second, a habit she had picked up from her dad, she wasn't sure why he did it, or why she did it. She stuck the quarters back into her pocket, taking her hands out quickly to avoid pressing against the bruises.
When Arah claimed her as her first friend here, she smiled, "Thanks, you're probably my first friend here, too. Well, I had friends in like kindergarten, but they either moved away or stopped talking to me." She smiled again, thinking about when she was in kindergarten. She used to have many friends, alot of kids hung out with her. That continued on until her mom left, then she blocked people out for a while, and then flipped and went totally happy most of the time, well, happy on the ouside, that is. On the inside she was still slightly depressed, especially when thinking of her mother, it was more anger when she thought of her father. She was usually happy, though, or neutral. She'd become pretty good at making it seem as though she was completely happy, hyper and bubbly when she was at the lowest of lows.

The fresh air was nice on Ethan's skin, and his nausia quickly went away. He felt fine now, leaning up against the cold wall, letting the breeze ruffle through his hair gently. He sighed, sliding down to the grass, his jeans would be cold from sitting on the ground, but he didn't mind. His body craved a cigarette, but he was trying to quit, his cousin had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, and if his aunt ever found out Ethan had been smoking she'd flip and probably start crying. He shoved his hands into his pockets, his fingers wrapping around his packet of cigarettes, "Just one won't kill me..." He sighed slightly, pulling out the pack, he flipped it open, there was only one left, he'd have to buy some later. He pulled out his lighter and stuck the cigarette in his mouth, lighting it with the lighter. Standing up, he moved farther away from campus, he'd gotten caught before smoking near campus and gotten detention. They didn't tell his aunt the real reason why he'd gotten detention since they knew about his cousin recently getting lung cancer, they just told her some other story, like he'd skipped class and got caught.
The school staff where pretty nice to him, considering he barely ever showed up at school, but he always tried to help out, plus the basketball coach was always trying to help him out. He held the cigarette in his two fingers, flicking the ash off the end and exhaling the smoke. He was wandering around the campus now, inhaling, exhaling, inhaling the smoke. Something about smoking calmed him, probably the nicotine, it was an addiction for him. He'd just picked it up a while ago, one of his friends offered him a cigarette at a party, he'd accepted, as he does with most things, and after that he was hooked. At first it was non-stop chain smoking, but it gradually died down into only a few smokes each day. He only had usually about one a day now, so his aunt had a less chance of finding out.

You really can veer off any path at any time.
Never give up!
