She heard her colleague Ren crack her knuckles and smiled almost subconsciously. Their delegation moved in to the spotlight on the arena as a loud voice amplified to be heard over the cheering sport fans announced the Japanese team. Rin smiled self-assuredly at the cameras. She was on the front row of the block of parading people, right behind the flag bearer. Despite the flashes of the cameras, the firework and the noise, she tried to keep her trademark serene and confident expression, tugging at the black and red suit's neck. Good Kami, it was hot in there, she thought. As fun as posing around for the cameras and showing off a red-and-white scarf marked with the kanji '日本' (Nippon) could be, she couldn't wait to get back to the hotel, unpack her clothes and take a nice cool shower. After all, the judo matches were just the next day, so she needed a good night's worth in sleep, or else the nine hours of difference between Tokio and London would surely take their tole in her tired body. Despite the smile plastered on her lips, her eyelids began sliding down as a series of long speeches was made. She was about to yawn, but then remembered the thousands of cameras everywhere and stopped herself from doing it.
The Olympic torch had already been handed out to its first carrier, and its flickering flame caught Rin's attention as it crossed the arena to reach the next bearer. Ever since she was a little kid, Rin loved the fire and its dancing reds and yellows, so in her mind there could be nothing more beautiful than the Olympic torch, the symbol of her ultimate passion and dream. Secretly, she was slightly dissapointed for not being Japan's torch bearer herself, but she settled for watching it being passed from hand to hand all around the stadium. She'd make sure she would make up for it by winning another gold medal at Judo for her homeland.
