Felix looked around as Bow spoke, eyeing the people that she was pointing out. He was intimidated by the sheer number of kids that were milling around, as he had been unaware that what seemed like everyone was awake. Jim and Alex looked nice to him, but he had never really had any friends who were guys, and he didn't really know how to talk to them. He shuffled his feet, losing some of the resolve that he had been fueled by only moments before. His gaze settled on Amber, but, though she was pretty and generally the type of girl that he would become attracted to, he didn't feel anything for her, and looked away, meeting Bow's bright eyes.
"Well," he finally said, repeating Bow's word of question in a timid voice, "it doesn't really matter, does it? I mean, whatever..." he trailed off, but he was looking across the room at the two boys, who, though not speaking to each other, weren't that far apart.
Felix walked over to them with more confidence than he truly felt, wondering how closely, if at all, Bow was shadowing him. He tried desperately to remember which boy was which, failing miserably. Finally he called out, "Hey Jim?" and the first boy turned. "Alex?" he added, marking them apart in his memory. Clasping his hands behind his back, he asked, "Could you guys... uh, help me out? I need a few people to test some walkie talkies out with me." Felix smiled, hoping that they didn't think he was a freak.
Without waiting for a response he added, too quickly, "It's really easy. Just out in the yard or whatever. I hope they'll work..." he trailed off, cursing his stupidity and the nerves that had made him speak a second time.
