Austin's face flamed red as he stepped back out of the door way. He hadn't realized that Elijah had still been awake. He didn't know why he was suddenly so embarrassed, maybe it was because he hadn't tried to help earlier, or because he had just offered to carry a man who was probably very capable of walking himself at the moment. But either way, looking at Elijah he was suddenly very aware of the fact that Kalika was not here. He shifted uncomfortably again, feeling self conscious about his bare chest again as he bowed his head. "Alpha," he started, not entirely sure if he would be able to continue the sentence without breaking into hysterics before he took a deep breath. "May I have permission to go look for Kali? I won't go looking for rogues, I'm not really that much of a fighter..." He hesitated, feeling like he was getting off track.

Kalika finally made her way up the porch, and through the door. But she frowned just inside it. Why weren't there people talking? Why couldn't she hear the pups? She took another step forward. "Elijah? Evans? Morii?..." Her voice trailed off as it echoed through the house. "Austin?" She had been afraid to say the name in case he wasn't going to answer. And he didn't. Anther step forward and her foot sank in through the wood. She screamed, the wood snapping and cutting into her leg as she fell. "Damnit!" She yelled, suddenly realizing why she wasn't hearing anyone. This must have been the abandoned house that they had to pass by to get to Evan's house, and she had tracked his scent wrong because she was in human form. She continued to give off a sting of curses as she pulled her leg up and out of the whole and started back out of the house slowly; she could feel the blood sticking to her leg and the bottom of her foot, she didn't like it.
