Once the girls had been wrestled into bed, Teresa had one last request for Lily.
"Would you please go give these cookies to the family who just moved in? They have a girl, Kaya, who's 16 as well. They just moved here from Japan! Kaya doesn't have any friends here, so it would be nice if you got to know her." Lily walked out the door and almost collided with the girl who she had seen in the doorway.
"Oh, sorry!" she mumbled. Losing her nerve, she handed her the cookies and dashed into her house.

Unlike he usually did, Daniel acted pretty fast. After all, this was just a greeting. And luckily, he wasn't making himself look all nervous like he always did.
"Oh, hello," he replied, looking back into Gwen's eyes. He quickly straightened himself up. Nice to meet you, Gwen. My name's Daniel... Daniel Zhang."
He nodded slightly after he finished up his sentence.

Gwen smiled at Daniel, feeling a bit awkward. Deciding to put that emotion behind her, after all, how would she make friends with anyone acting like some shy little girl? Anyway, deciding to put that emotion behind her, she grinned broadly. "Well, its awesome to meet you..I just moved here; do you know somewhere cool to hang out?" She asked, glancing from his spiky hair down to his converse. This wasn't the type of boy she normally talked to, true, but he was the first, so she would make an effort. "What do you like to do for fun, I guess Im asking." She said, her curly hair blowing in her face lightly, though she didnt bother to fix it, it would just go right back, she knew.

Daniel chuckled lightly at Gwen's question. Even though he knew how to answer that, he still thought, Aww snap. I have no idea how she's gonna react to this. He's usually not concerned about what other think of him, so this was kind of a new feeling to him. He knew he was going to have to get used to this feeling, though.
"All I do is sit in my usually dark room on a laptop," he answered, smiling lightly. "That's pretty much my life. I stay on my laptop for the majority of the day, go outside for no less than an hour, and try to teach myself to draw humans."
He suddenly remembered her other question, but wasn't quite sure how to answer that.
Well, there is a bit of forest behind my house, he thought. But why on earth would I suggest that in winter?

Gwen smiled despite herself, not trying to be rude, but just showing how she felt. "Nice. I can see that." She laughed lightly, nodding. "But, my friend, you are seriously missing out!" She said, nodding. "I spend most of the time outside...but then again," She smiled, thinking through it after she spoke, like always, "I do share a room with my sister, so I guess spending eight hours in the dark is not an option." She added, thinking about it. Noting how he liked to draw, she let a smile drift across her face. At least they had that in common. "Who's your favorite artist, though?" She asked. Though Gwen only drew realizm, and mostly animals, at that, her favorite artist was a painter--Degas. She had a replica of one of his dancers, and a paper weight of the sculpture, the Little Dancer.

Kaya jumped. "Oh, hello!" She said, surprised to see someone talking to her. "Sorry, it's my fault. I wasnt paying attention." Kaya thought her English sounded really bad, but it didnt matter. The girl had already ran back to her house. Kaya then looked down at the plate of cookies the girl had handed her. They looked delicious. Looking at them made her hungrier than she already was. She picked one up and took a bite. "Yum!" She said aloud. Kaya took the plate of cookies inside to share with the rest of her family and the movers.

Daniel couldn't help but laugh at that. "I know I am," he replied, smiling in a somewhat awkward way. "But I can't help my addiction to the internet."
Now Daniel had to think about Gwen's question for a brief moment. He wasn't the most fond of the artists like Van Gogh and Micheal Angelo, even though their art was pretty impressive.
"You probably haven't heard of him, but I really love Louis Wain's pictures," he answered.

Gwen bit her ful, dark lip, trying to summon him to memory. "The guy who draws...cats?" She asked, wincing slightly as she figured she was wrong. She had studied artists at one point, but it was a while back, so she had really no idea, besides an inkling. (ARG! WB! sorry....)

Faust skipped down the stairs, and breathed the cool air, sighing. The result was a small cloud puff, and she smiled. She turned onto the sidewalk and shoved her hands in her pockets. Blinking, she looked up at the clouds. More snow? She wondered what she was going to do today, and she honestly didn't have a clue. She passed two people on the sidewalk and gave them a slight wave, continuing on.
