Gwen kicked a small pile of snow that lay on the sidewalk, spraying the pavement with it, and scattering her boot with flecks that looked like crystals. Glancing at the small street, she heard the purr of a car--an obviously nice one. It was a Mercedes Benz, and she saw a girl inside of it, driving around. Though she wanted to scowl at the rich girl, who looked like she was just driving around for the heck of it, it wasn't her nature, and so Gwen gave a slight smile and a wave to her, her face familar. Maybe she goes to school with me...? She thought absentmindedly, stoping to watch, though she knew it was impolite.

Also, I am going to make Daniel's brother, just not now. ))

Daniel made his way out of the laundry room door into the garage. Sometimes, he wasn't the biggest winter person around, but he knew he had to deal with it for awhile and stop complaining about the cold. But at other times - like right now, for example - he was anxious to get outside in hopes of meeting a few new people. Daniel called out a quick "see you later" to his brother, and with that, he slipped on his oh-so protective jacket and headed outside.
He sauntered slowly down the sidewalk, already wondering about what would happen later in the day. He kind of dragged his feet as he walked along, even though he knew it would probably damage his new converse shoes. Honestly, at the moment, he didn't care. He was just glad to be outside of the house.

Gwen glanced away from the wealthy girl in the car, who had driven away by now, and who's car was just disapearing behind the bend, and turned to see a guy walking, er, no, not really walking. More like shuffling. Well, she turned to see a guy shuffling down the street towards her, and she sighed, wondering if she should go say hi. Deciding that was a decent idea, she continued walkng towards him, her hands in her jacket's pockets, her long, dark, curly hair flying behind her in the sharp wind that snapped at her face and chilled her pleasantly.

Lily had finally saved up enough for her own car, and she still wasn't used to the luxury of driving wherever she wanted. It was just a beat up old Volkswagen, but as soon as Lily settled into the cracked leather seat, she gave a smile of pleasure. She tried starting up the motor, but the cold air caused it to promptly die again. Finally, the engine started with a cough and Lily cautiously backed out of the crowded parking lot. She breathed a sigh of relief once she got onto the main road. "I'm glad I didn't hit another car," she told herself. Having just gotten her license two weeks ago, Lily didn't trust herself on the roads.

Kaya looked around her familes small minivan. She was assessing the situation she was in. Whenever she thought about it, it made her sad, but she couldnt help it. After all, how can you not think about something that happened so suddenly that you didnt even find out about it until the day the moving van showed up. Kaya wondered 'How can I make friends!? Im a freak from a different country..' Choko grabbed the sleave of Kayas coat. "YaYa, are we there yet?" Choko said in Japanese. Kaya smiled sweetly at her younger sister. She was possibly the cutest toddler in the whole country of Japan. Her eyes were the perfect shade of brown. Her skin was softer than any other toddlers. Her hair was the perfect length, cropped just below her ears. She had yet to compare her to an American baby, even though she was sure American babies werent as cute as Choko. "Almost, KoKo, we're almost there." She replied back, also in Japanese. Choko sighed and went back to coloring neatly in her very first 'big girl' notebook. Kaya glanced over at Mao to see how she was doing. Earlier, Mao had gotten sick on the plane and started vomiting. Her skin did look kind of pale, but other than that, Mao looked perfectly normal. Kaya laughed a bit because, now that she thought about it, she could understand why people used to mistake Choko and Mao as twins. Mao was about the same size as Choko, despite being two years younger. They also had the same haircut. The only difference between them is that Mao's eyes are a bit lighter than Choko's. "Ok, we're here! Everyone grab your bags, I'll go unlock the door for the moving men." Kaya's father said as he bounded out of the car over to the door. "I'll get Choko, you get Mao." Kaya told her mother. "Please." She added. Sometimes she forgets to use her manners. Kaya unbuckled Choko from her carseat and lifted her ontop of her shoulders. She then grabbed her bag, Choko's bag, and Mao's diaper bag, seeing that her mothers hands were full. The two of them proceeded into the house, ahead of the movers, as to not get in their way. "Wow!" the family said in unison. "It's so big!" Kaya exclaimed. "Lets explore!" Choko said to her big sister. "Let me down please!" Kaya carefully lifted Choko off her shoulders. And as soon as she did that, Choko bounded up the stairs to claim a bedroom. Kaya stood in the doorway, still in awe of how wonderful the house looked.

While Daniel was heading down the sidewalk, the part of him that wasn't thinking about other things noticed a girl that seemed to be coming towards... Him? If someone really was going to notice him, he'd feel pretty happy since he was usually the lonelier and more distant one in school. That was his fault since he didn't like approaching people, though.
I'd better think of something to say, Daniel thought. I don't really want to be stuttering and mumbling in front of anyone.

Gwen smiled, a bit shyly, but mostly just pleasantly. It wasn't her way to be shy, so she walked right up to the boy, her dark hair tumbling about her, her brown eyes looking into his. "Hi," She smiled, her hands still in her pockets. Trying to warm up slightly, she bounced on the balls of her feet, her boots making an annoying squeeking noise when she did, so she stopped, not wanting to annoy the boy. "Im Gwen," She added, shrugging lightly. He seemed nice, and though she wanted to launch off into a whole conversation, she had been told by some girl that looked to desperate. So, she bit her tongue, waiting for him to speak.

As she was driving down the road to her house, Lily noticed some moving trucks outside of a nearby house. Peeking inside, she thought, "So that's who's moving into that house!" The house had been in construction for months, the noise drowning out the TV sometimes. A girl stood in the doorway of the house. She looked about Lily's age, and she was japanese or something. Before the girl turned around to see Lily staring at her, she drove down the street and pulled up in the driveway. Their houses were only three houses apart. Lily was already imagining that they would become best friends, and would go over to each other's houses every day. They would paint their toenails while gossiping, and every friday night they would have a movie night and eat popcorn together.
Her daydream was interrupted by Teresa, her adoptive mom, coming out of the house and knocking on the window of Lily's car. She looked exhausted.
"Lily, would you please come here and get Sammy out from under the table? Her and Melinda have been wreaking havoc all afternoon, and they need their naps." Sammy and Melinda were Lily's little sisters. They were 3 and 5, respectively, and very energetic. Her other sister, Lauren, usually spent her days cooped up in her room, on the phone with her best friend. Lily followed Teresa inside to help calm the kids down.

"I'll be back KoKo, Im going to go explore the neighborhood first. You stay here and help mom and dad unpack!" Kaya put on her thick winter coat, a cat hat, a pair of gloves, and her blue snow boots. Then she walked out the door, dodging moving men on the way. Once she was safe on the side walk, she surveyed the neighborhood. It looked nice. There also seemed to be a fair amount of teens around, seeing as there was at least two outside. She didnt really want to meet any new people at the moment, fearing that she might be rejected because she wasnt to good at English.

Unlike he usually did, Daniel acted pretty fast. After all, this was just a greeting. And luckily, he wasn't making himself look all nervous like he always did.
"Oh, hello," he replied, looking back into Gwen's eyes. He quickly straightened himself up. Nice to meet you, Gwen. My name's Daniel... Daniel Zhang."
He nodded slightly after he finished up his sentence.
