Ricky's jaw felt sore and slightly swollen, though he had had worse from the guys on the football team. Still, it was not pleasant. Flinching slightly at the venom in her snarl, he glared back at her, tired of her hating on him for something he never really did. "What did I ever do to you, Ever?" He spat back, dark eyes blazing. "So what, I don't like your gay friend, that automatically makes me your worst enemy?" He rolled his eyes, shoving his arms back into the still-clean jacket. This girl was so infuriating! He tries to do something good for her, despite the fact she was a total nerd and hated his guts (the feeling was pretty much mutual at this point), and what does she do? Punch him as hard as she can, and then snap at him for being nice. Jesus!! Though, obviously, he still was dying to know what had happened, but this girl was just being a jerk on purpose.

Ever threw her hands into the air, her red hair swinging in her face as she did so.
"Don't you get it? I don't hate you!"
She said, her voice hinting hysteria. Her cold green eyes stared him down, her eyes filling with tears.
"When I get confused, I fall into my words! You confuse me so much!"
She nearly yelled at him loudly, her hands gripping into fits. She then out her hand on her temples, not even bothering to wince as they grazed her face.
"I just don't know anything anymore. You are popular, I am a nerd. You are cute, I come to school bruised everyday. You look forward to football after school, I get to go home to an abusive father who couldn't tell me whether the sky was blue or the sun was yellow!"
She confessed and then turned onto her heel, stalking away. No way she was going to lose her calm in front of the famous jock Ricky.

Ricky frowned, shaking his head. Abusive father? Cute? As an impulse he lurched forward slightly to follow her, but something stopped him. She was right. This was too strange. They didn't know each other, and he knew too much now. She needed to tell someone! Ricky took a shaky breath, stuffing his hands in his pockets. I need to call 911...someone has to. But then what? They'll take him away, and where would she go? I shouldn't ruin her life like that...it's her choise. Ever can take care of herself. He though, though an itch of doubt wiggled its way into his heart. She didn't hate him, sure, but that didn't mean he could help her. So far, it seemed as if he had only made it worse.
The jock, careless part of him told him to walk away. Forget her. There were plenty more popular, and prettier girls in his school~And they weren't messed up like she was, obviously. Plus, they didn't flick him off or punch him whenever they spoke. There were nicer, sweeter, and just plain better girls out there than Ever. So why should he follow her? Swallowing his doubts, he gave a roll of his eyes, a last rub of his sore jaw, and a grumble of cuss words under his breath as he broke into a run to follow her. She was already almost out of sight, and he had to sprint to catch up so he was close enough to see her figure running, her bronzed hair flying out behind her. Why am I always chasing this chick?! He thought with a slight laugh and grimace, noting how laughing hurt his jaw.

Ever's mint green eyes flickered backward as she threw a glance over her shoulder. And he was still following her. Stopping, she waited until his was next to her before she placed her hands on her hips. She lapsed back into her self control, her green gaze dull, her lips a straight line until she spoke.
"Why do you always follow me, Ricky? Go find some stupid brunette that will appreciate you for who you are. Go find some girl who will drool over you and tell you constantly that you are the one for her. Go find a girl who is not insane."
She said, with a dark laugh at her last comment. Insane was the only word that described Ever. She moved forward, standing closer to Ricky than she had ever gotten. Even when they had been fighting. Her small hands reached up to grab his chin between her two fingers, careful to avoid the injured area. She bent his head down so that he had no choice but to look into her eyes as she spoke.
"I am not someone you want to be friends with. You know that. You saw me steal the shoes I wear. You saw me when I lost my control. I am violent. I am crazy. Don't get involved with me. I am not someone whom can make your life better. So go away. Save your popularity, pretty boy."
Her fiery read hair swam around her head as she released his chin, taking a step back. She felt uncomfortable with the closeness of herself to him and she cleared her throat. Moving backward and wiping her hair away from her face as a dark blush took over her pale face.

Ricky frowned, though he couldnt help a smile cross his face when she grabbed his chin and started talking to him like she was bad news. Ricky shook his head as she backed away, a smile on his face. "Look, Ever. You aren't as deep as you think you are. I'm not just some jock, okay? Your not just some nerd, and everyone has another layer to them, Ever." He narrowed his eyes. "So stop telling me who I am!" He ended, walking a step closer to her, leaning his head down so he could look at her again, blood starting to use out of her cuts more, but he didn't try and help. He wanted her to know he was not just one dimensional--not just some jerk trying to get into her pants...though that wouldn't be too bad, he figured on a side note. Zoning back in, he focused on his point. He could be nice, and deep, and helpful. He could be what she needed right now.

Ever was so confused by him. What was he thinking? Another layer? Of course she had one layer. She was a one layered girl... but what if she was wrong? As he walked closer to her, she felt her heartbeat quicken. Her mint green eyes widened slowly.
What was he talking about? And yet, she could see it in his gaze. He was trying to be nice. And she didn't know what to do. Her emerald green eyes closed for a moment, trying to catch her breath.
"I don't understand."
She whispered ever so softly, her eyes still closed. She had told him about her father, he had stayed. He had offered her help and she had not accepted it. She was so confused. Was he the jerk, or was she? Who was fighting who?
"I-I-I'm sorry."
She whispered, opening her mint green eyes, trying not to let her emotions show. She had always tried to keep her feelings from males, yet she found some issues keeping everything from Ricky.

Ricky shook his head, his brow furrowed. "Don't be," He sighed, his eyes tracing the cuts on her face. He knew that if he was in her shoes, he would have punched him too. After all, he had only ever flirted with her, and insulted her friends. Glancing into her light green eyes that were almost emotionless. Almost. Feeling his heart tighten, he stepped just one step closer to her and wrapped his long arms around her gently. He didn't want to hurt her anywhere, if there were cuts on her body, after all. Rubbing her back gently he let go, "It's okay, Ever. You'r okay." He nodded, blushing slightly, and hoping he wouldn't get punched again for that.

Ever was so surprised when he wrapped his arms around her that for a second she did actually think about punching him again, one good one in the stomach or the groin, either one would do. But, instead, she felt her head lean against his broad shoulder, her unshead tears rolling down her cheeks, falling onto his shirt. She then smirked ever so slightly, laughing through her tears.
"I am not okay. I am crazy. Insane."
Her green eyes closed and she wrapped her thin arms around his waist, the highest she could reach. Her wild red hair flew about her face, making her features look cat-like. She then looked up at him.
"There is something I want to try..."
She whispered and, ever so gently, she reached up to grab his chin like she had done before, but this time drawing it down. Reaching on her tip toes, she pressed her lips to his. She had never kissed anyone before, and hoped he would not reject her.
