"Oh," Lilleigh replied, scuffing her feet in the dirt under her. "I'm still really sorry about earlier."

Lilleigh was surprised by this comment. She blushed and looked at her feet, wondering what to say to Jake.

Jake bit his lip. She rocked on his heals

"We can, um, go walk or something," Lilleigh suggested, looking up. She realized Jake was just as flustered as she was. On the inside, this made her giggle, but she held it back.

Lilleigh began walking in the same direction she had earlier. "My mom really doesn't care where I am or what I do anymore. She just drinks and messes around with guys," Lilleigh said. "In a way, it's a plus, but it's also a minus because she pays no attention to me anymore," she added.

"Yeah, it's no fun. My dad lives in Montana on a ranch in the mountains. I used to live there, but my mom claimed full custody after she went through school to become a psychologist. But, she threw her job away after I came home. Dad didn't even do anything," she sighed.
