The year? . . . 1983.
The location? . . . Area 51.
The problem? . . . Extraterrestrial lifeforms.
The problem started only a decade after the creation of the Area 51, a military base built as a brother to the Edwards Air Force Base. Its intentional use was simple: to test experimental aircraft and weapons, and to train soldiers with the highest intelligence that was humanly possible. However, this operation began to turn into something much worse than that, all because of the discovery of a little silver disk.
While out doing routine border checks on the facility, a group of five men came across a large patch of completely incinerated land. In the middle of the scorched black mass was something even worse: a massive crater. Inside, nestled at the very bottom, was a huge, glistening disk. It was easily larger than any military aircraft ever produced or imagined, but it wasn't shaped like any plane the soldiers knew of. Its surface glistened like a super-polished star, with no visible seams, cracks, or dents. In fact, there were no signs of any damage upon impact.
After bringing word of the unidentified flying object back to the base, things took a dramatic turn for the worse. The head of the base was automatically obssessed in the discovery, beginning to lose his mind in his curiousity. He sent soldiers to explore the airship, not caring about - or perhaps ignoring - whatever threats may be lurking onboard. After ten attempts to bring back information were suddenly halted by the disappearance of the sent soldiers, the head began to grow restless. They'd have to use a different tactic to get what they wanted, or else it simply wouldn't work.
All of the soldiers were brought to the crash site, weapons in hand and spirits high. There was at least five thousand men; there was no way all of them were going down. As they boarded the ship, however, they were frightened out of their wits. Strung about like marionettes were the bodies of their comrades, their insides strewn about like tinsel and their limbs hung like ornaments. Many were sick at the sight - not to mention the smell - but they pushed onward; they weren't to be phased by two dozen rotting corpses. Actually, they probably would have stopped, if it weren't for their sanity-losing leader.
After what seemed like hours of venturing the dark halls of the aircraft, they finally found what nearly shocked them out of their wits: humans. Not just humans, but humans working on things so advanced it made their jaws drop. They looked nothing like an extraterrestrial would; in fact, aside from their pale bodies, they looked exactly like a normal person. The aliens were peaceful as well...until they saw the guns. Their eyes flashed into a kaleidoscope of colours, and they stared at the weapons as if their life depended on it. It was no use to them; the bullets were flying, and by the time they stopped, all of the aliens were dead in piles of bleeding, ghost-white bodies. If you read all of this, write 'our boy's gone mad' in silver in the 'other' section of your form.
The already maniac leader ordered each piece of equipment to be taken from the aircraft, and the alien bodies brought back for experimenting and disecting. The soldiers were disgusted, but were too curious and interested in the new life they'd found on the ship. It was a few hard month's work - and a lot of denying things from the press and government - but they had managed to get the heavy machinery, weapons, bodies and even parts of the UFO itself back to the main buildings and storage areas of Area 51.
Skip ahead another decade, and we're in the present year. Things have gotten better or worse, depending on your point of view; attracted by the crash of another ship, more aliens have come to visit Area 51, only to be captured by capsule-like devices developed from those recovered from the first aircraft. There are nine known 'species' of extraterrestrials, each with their own attitudes, appearances, and even languages. The soldiers are still running the institute; keeping the aliens in check, taking the occasional 'sample' for experimentation. However, they have begun splicing alien and human DNA, trying to create the ultimate super-soldier. The Extras are not going to let this happen, but how will they stop them?
