• Like We Used to • (onexone with Hikaru)

Kimiko cleared her throat and tried to take out the blush on her cheeks but it failed.

"S-so did you finish our history homework?" she asked tryingto change the subject. The awkward silence was piercing and it was making her blush even more. A strand of hair strayed in front of her face. She brushes it back behind her ear and waited for his response.

Kenji glanced up at the sound of Kimiko's voice. He leaned back in his chair. "Um, most of it, though I'm not finished with it yet." He answered, running a hand through his hair. Kenji smirked, shifting himself uncomfortably in the chair. He rubbed his cheeks as if to smother the blush.

Kimiko bit her bottom lip and nodded. She didn't know how else to make things a little less awkward. Then she got up and placed her glass in the sink.

"Th-thanks for coming over last night.....I was really happy to have you near me...." her eyes widen at what she said then she panicked. "I-I-I mean you made me feel really safe..." she then closed her eyes embarrassed. Her cheeks even more red than before. She was too scared to see what his reaction was.

Kenji slipped off his chair also, and put his cup in the sink. His face flushed at her words, and his eyes widened slightly. "Oh, well it wasn't too much trouble..." He said, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "I figured you needed some company." He said, returning to his seat.

"Yeah...." she replied. Her eyes fell to the ground then she realised she had to pick up her mom's friend's baby. "I-I have to go pick up someone. You're welcome to stay. I'll be back soon." she ran up the stairs and changed as she sprinted out the door to their neighbour's house a few houses down.

Minutes later, she came back him carrying a cute baby girl. She had brown hair. She was about 5 months old. "Aww, isn't she cute?" Kimiko said while smiling at the baby. Then she sat down and cradled it in her arms.

Kenji nodded, watching Kimiko leave. He was relieved to be alone. He mentally kicked himself for acting so stupid. He waited patiently for Kimiko to return, pacing the room. Once she arrived, he smiled brightly. He walked towards them slowly, cooing at the baby. "She is..." He agreed.

Kimiko smile while she looked down at the baby and tickled it's cheek gently with her index finger. The baby smiled in it's sleep which made Kimiko smile too. "I can't wait for the day I'll have a baby." she was speaking without thinking again. Then her eyes opened wide as she looked at Kenji. She blushed again and looked away.

"S-sorry, just thinking out loud again." her voice trailed off as she rocks the baby gently in her arms. She looked so cute. Her cheeks were chubby and pink. Her fingers were cute and small too.

Kenji smiled weakly at the baby, glancing at Kimiko as she spoke. "No need to apologize." He said with a shrug, shifting his weight to his other leg. "You know, since you have to babysit, it'd just be better if I go home." He said with a smirk, opening the door. "See you?" He offered with a grin.

"y-you don't have to...but if you want to that's fine." she said standin up and putting the baby on the small crib on the side. That crib was from when she was a baby but her mother never threw it away because she tends to babysit a lot. Kimiko walked over to Kenji and looked at him. It was his choice to leave or not, she wouldn't mind either way. But she really wishes he could stay.

Her eyes shifted to the floor while waiting for his reply. She didn't want to seem creepy and just watch him.

Kenji honestly didn't want to leave, he just didn't want to be a bother. "How about I come back later for lunch? I can make some sandwhiches or something." He said, staking in the dorframe. Kenji waited for her answer, his eyebrows raised. He smirked.
