Headmistress Leeng felt a tingle of girlish excitement as she glided down the halls. The entire school took on new life at the very beginning of the term, and though she knew it wouldn't be long before she was cleaning up squabbles, dealing with troublesome students, soothing irate teachers, and reassuring worried parents, she couldn't help but get caught up in the moment. Leaving the office building, she stood for a moment on the stairs overlooking the crowded courtyard. The various languages cluttered together in a heavy mixtures of sounds and occasionally smells. Old friends who had been there the year before greeted each eagerly, only to laugh when they realized they didn't have their translators with them. Newcomers hung at the edge of the crowd, a few lucky enough to find students who spoke their language. It was chaos. A wonderful kind of chaos. Fal-lon, standing at her side with the other teachers, looked at her, asking silently if he could call them to order. She gestured for him to wait, giving time to the students to socialize and settle in. And allow any late comers time to arrive.

Stop it! Morgan shouted at herself, as she stood on the edge of the overwhelming mass of bodies. You wanted to be here. You want to be here! Stop being so childish! She had always prided herself on her adaptability, and here she was, cowering on the edge of the crowd like some sort of Ovis Avian. It didn't help much that others were doing it. Looking at them just showed her how pathetic she looked. She ran her fingers along her face tattoos, drawing on the courage of her mothers people. You can do this. She straightened her shoulders and prepared to enter the fray, only to choke at the last second, fall back, and try again. It took a couple tries, but finally she became one with the crowd. Please let someone speak English. She begged silently as she tried to avoid be joshed about by the other students. Suddenly, the edge of the crowd was looking very appealing.

Ashlii kept her head down, her hair falling messily over her heterochromic eyes. Her lower half wa sthat of a goat, her fur slightly messy from the movement around her. Her tail twitched slightly.
This school... She had been so excited, but now that was overshadowed by nervousness. She bit her lower lip. On her top half, she didn't wear much. She couldn't; it was uncomfortable. But yet, she had already gone over that with the headmistress, so she had nothing to worry about there.
With a quiet sigh, she lifted her head and took a look around her. So many different species... She had never seen so many. She had never known they existed. A frown tugged at her lips as she watched them all. Most seemed alright, but there was one scent, one kind, that she found made her extremely uncomfortable.
It was the scent of a werewolf-ish creature.
She shuddered at the mere thought of it. Her head was crowded by all the words, all the languages that she would never understand.
Oh lord, please let somebody here speak english...
She thought to hersewlf.
English was the language she had been brought up to speak, and so was the only one she could understand. She felt nervous, and so terribly out of place at this school already. She had never been great at making friends...
Her skin wasn't as pale as it had used to be; it was a slightly tanned colour, though still very pale. Oh, how she wanted to make some friends.
However, she was in no rush to do so. She remained on the sidelines, seeing no reason to join the massive group in the middle. After all, large groups made her dreadfully nervous.

Charlie felt fine at the edge of the crowd; watching was easier than interacting and trying to make friends in this mess would be ridiculous. His hands were carefully folded behind his back as he leaned against the wall. His pale skin didn't attract anyone and he was glad for that-- the number of creatures here was fascinating. He found himself studying the non-humans more closely than the humans-- his mother had never mentioned any other form of life, and he hadn't been out enough to witness anything. He saw a half-girl, half-goat, and a few stragglers at the edge of the crowd. His gaze passed over that of an authority figure and froze. The headmistress-- she was letting all this happen? He knew social interaction was good for most, but it had been a while and things were getting out of hand. He considered going over to talk to her, but stopped himself. She was smart and would know when to stop it. After all, she had gotten the job. The mass of sound flowed over his ears and Charlie couldn't help the small grin forming. He spoke one language fluently, and that was English- but he had dabbled in some others to know enough of what they were saying. He simply stood, and watched.

Ashlii sighed. This area was getting a little crowded, too... She reached up with one hand and touched her curled ram horns, as if only to confirm that they were still there atop her head. She nodded as she felt them, and lowered her hands once more. She decided it would be best to get away from this area. She only wished that the headmistress would stop pratting around and call these students to order; things were getting way out of hand...
She made her way around the increasing group to a less crowded area of the room. She had not been paying any attention to where she was going aside from a few side-glanced.
Suddenly, she felt herself collide with another.
She gasped, spinning her body around to face the... Whatever it was she had bumped into. She saw a male, leaning against the wall. His skin was pale, his hair a dark, chocolatey brown and his eyes a dull forest green. He had little of a scent, and nothing to suggest that he was in any way different.
"I'm sorry!" She frowned apologetically. She glanced him over, searching for any signs of difference... Nothing.
"...This might be like a really stupid question, but... Are you a human?" She asked, tilting her head to the side slightly.
Her skin went from her hips, rising up across the rest of her body. It seemed to contrast well with her fur.
She made no attempt of hiding all of her skin, most of it seeming to be showing though only because that was how her species dressed if at all. Due to it being the only human part bout her, she took very good care of her skin, giving it a slight glow that showed healthiness. She wasn't stick thin, nor overweight. She was just right, in her mind.
She gave the male a smile and awaited his response.

Edward looked around the crowded school and smirked, this was his cup of tea, well that is if anyone here spoke Lyacon. The boy thought of his Lyacon guardian, his foster father and it brought a pleasant smile to his face. He couldn't remember his parents and didn't quite know why the old coot took him, not that he's complaining or anything, it was just weird. Shaking his head he looked at the big crowd in front of him. Ed stood, not because he was scared of the huge crowd, no, he wanted to think of something, something that would get lots of stares... Odd stares. He slightly giggle as he thought about it, but seeing how big the crowd was it didn't seem possible so he sighed and pushed his way in. "Hey, anyone here spoke Lyacon?" he snarled and growled, growled and snarled, and howled a couple of times. Too most it looked like he was being savage, strange or... just plain silly. He gently rammed people with his horns as he pushed his way in, most likely annoying them.

Another year. It was bitter sweet. Another year he had to put up with the others; young teens and those teetering on the delicate border between being a teenager and an adult, species from everywhere of all shapes and sizes. For many, both new and old, it was a nerve wracking, albeit exciting experience. For Zared, it was just another day.

The beginning of the term meant an array of newbies. They awkwardly fumble over themselves, lose their way to their classrooms between periods and are the choice targets for cruel pranks. More weaknesses to exploit, more secrets to divulge, more drama to stir up. Zared took the opportunity to track down anyone new who looked worthy of a little brawl. Hey, it was all fun and games. Mostly. Well, maybe not. But how else was a guy to get his kicks outside of school hours? He could always flirt with the ladies, but he hardly found it tasteful. Generally speaking, yeah, he was a jerk, but if there was one thing his parents had taught him, it was how to treat a lady.

Although he was capable of speaking in his native tongue, his species adopted language was English, which he could speak just as well as any human.

He was making his way through the crowd. He'd managed to keep his composure thus far, but upon feeling someone push him aside, he immediately lost his composure and whipped around to see a fauna walking away.

"HEY!" he snapped, making his way in front of the man. "Who do you think you are?!" he asked, long tail swishing across the ground. Left, right, twitch. The Xetians way of saying 'I'm going to nail you, hard'. Without waiting for an answer, he balled his fist, landing one on Edwards face. Quickly following was a swift kick to the torso, sending Ed flying back a couple of feet, only to crash into a girl - Morgan. He watched, wide eyed and quickly realizing his mistake as the two were awkwardly pulled to the ground.

Zared made his way over, pushing Edward off of the girl and grabbing her wrist, pulling to the small human to her feet. "Look what you made me do! Look what you did!" he snapped, giving a half glance to the girl to make sure she was OK before setting his gaze on Edward. Just like him, blame it on the other guy.

Morgan rapidly went through three emotional states. First, there was the initial embarrassment of being knocked to the ground. Second, as Zared helped her up, there was the strange fluttery feeling she got around males roughly her age. This silly emotion finally gave way to giddy relief when he began speaking English.
"Hey, give him a break. I'm fine." She said, vaguely aware she was smiling like an idiot. "No harm, no bruise... Besides, you were the one who pushed him." She wasn't really accusing him. She was stating a fact. "Names Morgan, Morgan Knight." She hesitated, perhaps now would be a good time to shake his hand. But then she remembered how her tribe sisters reacted when she first offered the strange greeting. What if she offered her hand, and he simply stared at her? Deciding to go the safe route, she gave him a smart salute. There, that should do it. She found herself tongue-tied after the introduction. Young males was the one thing she completely overlooked, and Nexus Academy had now taken on a level of significance.

Leeng frowned as she observed small quarrels breaking out here and there. Nothing bone-breaking mind you, but certainly proof that the students were getting restless. She turned to Fal-lon and gave a tiny nod. If the large Rota had a mouth, he would be grinning. He reached over a pressed a button, listening with relish to the loud class bell. Soon, order would be restored. The Headmistress took her place on the podium, and calmly waited for the noise to cease.

Morgan felt briefly panicked as thoughts of alarm bells raced through her head. She forced herself to calm down and turned towards the steps and then back to the strange Aquatic. "It's the bell." She said, feeling stupid. "The class bell." She elaborated brilliantly. "Not the... never mind!" Deciding it was best to shut up, she grew quiet and turned to wait for the Headmistress welcoming speech. She knew, that from that moment on, she would stick very closely to her fellow females, at least for now.
