Bree walked out to the the garden quickly.She tried to remeber what was a weed and what wasn't. She just picked the scruffy looking plants hoping they wouldnt have needles.

Anna left the castle, proud of herself. She had completed her mission and made it there unharmed, too. Her father would be proud, of course; he might even let her go on more diplomatic missions like this. When she heard a fog horn blow off in the distance, her eyes widened; her boat! It was going to leave without her! She picked up the skirt of her dress slightly and began to run, tripping over her own two feet and bumping into others constantly. If she hurried, maybe she would be able to make it on the ship.
She continued on her rushed path and felt her heart drop; the ship was already fading away towards the horizon. She messed up; everything was going so well, and she ruined her chance. With a sigh, she bit her lip. There had to be someplace she could stay until the next ship left.

Seth worked in silence, his eyes always flickering to the side for snakes. He flinched, gasping in shock as something hard hit his back. He stumbled forward onto his hands and knees, mouth gaping. His ribs ached.Laughter erupted from the two men and he turned his head to see a good sized rock on the ground.He grimaced, glaring over his shoudler at the men, reaching a hand to her side. after a moment, his fury was over ran him and he picked up the rock, firing it into one of the worker's kidney. He yowled in pain and spun around to face Seth, racing at him with the shovel."You little brat!"he yelled at the undersized boy, who took off at a fast run through the fields, leaping over peas and streaking through the rows, the man after him.nice seth, nice.he thought.

James glanced up, a small sigh escaping his lips. How did he know that this new slave would do that!? Something hardened inside of him at that moment, watching the field bosses taking off after Seth. Any second now, they would pass his own row. Without hesitation, he lunged forwards, kicking out his foot as the man flashed by. The large, cruel field boss fell, his eyes wide, and his expression full of surprise.

Seth glanced back to see James had tripped one of the two men, he grinned but also felt horrified.-would James be punished for that? even being the Owner's son?-Seth hoped not, and while he was thinking that over, the second man overtook him. Scooping the undersized boy up in his arms, an arm wrapped around his neck. Seth gasped, not able to breathe to well and kicked out, pulling at the man's huge arm. Trying to get the choking pressure away, and get out of this trap. he growled angrily, knwing that he would not have been caught if he had kept running and not looked over at James. Rank breath, and a rough voice sounded in his ear."Live one we got here eh? Well let me tell you little boy,"he growled, his grip tightening. Seth gagged."There will be consequences for this little act. I assure you."he tossed seth aside like a rag doll and the boy tumbled, gasping and holding his throat. the man planted a boot in the middle of Seth's chest, eyes narrowed.

"Geravold." James growled, his eyes narrowed, and a look of pure hatred on his face. He stepped over his row, and the fallen man, who was groaning, and trying to stop his scraped hands and knees from bleeding. The rest of the workers in the fields had turned, and were staring at the Owner's son, approaching Seth and the man named Geravold. "Let him go." He kept his voice cool and controled, his arms at his sides, and his head slightly bowed. From a quick glance, he looked almost exactly like his father. Cold and calculating.

Geravold glared over at the boy for a moment, glancing from him to Seth. As if deciding whether or not to listen to him. finallly he gave in and gave seth one final, hard shove/kick, before moving away, grumbling. Seth yelped and lay on his side gasping before he got to his hands and knees, mouth gaping. he looked at James from behind his unkempt dark hair.

James reached Seth's side, and knelt, concern replacing the hatred that had been there before. "I'm sorry." He muttered, offering the other boy a helping hand to get to his feet. By now, the other slaves had turned back to their work, not eager to get in trouble for not working.

Kendra picked up a broom, and handed it to Abby. "You know how to sweep, right?" She asked, her voice kind and gentle. "I'm going to work on dusting."
