Arlais smiled and looked to see if any one was coming or not.

"Yeah," said Sonja, finding the recipe she was looking for and drawing it out. "Some idiot kept getting into it, and they ate all of the chocolate my ma sent with me from home." She set down the recipe and said, "Here it is." She gestured at an old-timey icebox nearby. "Butter and eggs, please."

Mark went over to the icebox. He opened it. "How many eggs?"

"Two," said Sonja, answering by heart. She had made this recipe so many times that she didn't even need to look. "A half cup of flour, a half cup of cocoa power, a cup of sugar, and a half cup of brown sugar. Half teaspoon of salt, and another half teaspoon of baking soda."

Mark retrieved the butter and eggs from the icebox and set them down next to her. "Where does ther flour live?"

"Up... here," replied Sonja, opening a cabinet over her head and pulling down the jar of flour.

Mark measures out the right amount of flour and put it in a bowl.

Sonja measured out the rest of the ingredients and began to mix them, cracking one of the eggs, then the other. It took a while to get it all mixed, but the finished product was worth it. A bowl full of brownie batter- delicious.

Mark stuck his finger in the batter. He pulled it out and licked the batter off his finger. "Yum."

"You know what?" asked Sonja, taking out two spoons from a drawer nearby, "We don't have to go to any party- we've got ourselves a gigantic bowl of brownie batter." She handed one of the spoons to Mark, and took her own spoonful of batter. "Yum," she said, trying to lick a dot of it from her chin.
