While Violet slept, she began to dream--but her dreams weren't normal.
Violet found herself in a comfortable chair, sitting before a glass table in front of her favorite coffee store. Every morning she would stop there and enjoy a nice hot chocolate (she didn't like coffee, it was too bitter), which was what she found herself doing now. She allowed herself a smile, looking up at the colorful umbrella that shaded her seat, seeing the brim of her brown fedora at the edge of her sight. A piece of paper skittered by in the wind, snd she took her violet eyes of the empty seat across the table to watch the paper. When she glanced back, the seat was taken by an unfamiliar face.
The man was obviously aged, with long white and gray hair tied back in a ponytail at the base of his skull. His chin was coated with white and gray stubbles, and a friendly, comforting smile adorned his facial features. He had a friendly face, but beneath his gray, bushy eyebrows were two orbs of bloody red. violet thought back to her encounter with Death, remembering the blood red eyes of the shadowy figure.
"Yes, I'm Death," the man said, but his voce held no double tone like before. "and this is what I looked like before I died."
"...You died?" Violet asked. "Yes--Death has to get sick of his job. Sometimes he picks a predecessor."
"Enough chat; why are you here? I'm not dying again, right?" Violet asked a little anxiously. Death chuckled warmly. "No, no. I gain the ability to visit someone after I've met them, but let them return. I can visit you anytime, but I prefer dreams--it's more face-to-face, y'know?"
"So why visit me?"
"Because your mother neglected to tell you and your little group of your father's plans... or, at least, while you are still awake." Violet blinked. Death sighed. "I know what goes on among the living. I usually don't interfere, but this is important. Many lives could be saved with my intervention. I don't like taking good people away from their families."
So...what is the big plan, then?" Violet and Death talked and discussed, while in the living world Violet was still fast asleep.
Vivian glanced over at Lily. She had asked of the plans Caleb had in mind for them. At first, Vivian was apprehensive--she was used to seeing vampires as enemies. But, this was important--this was for her daughter.
"Caleb is after my daughter, to start with," she said quietly, watching the skies again. "He wants her dead because of omething she had no control over. She was born a human, and born a girl. Now he just wants her dead because he just blames her for this mess." Vivian glanced at her daughter, sleeping peacefully. This wasn't her fault.
"He wants the vampire who killed my son to die as well," Vivian continued. "Victor was his only heir...and his only son. My son." she looked like she was fighting back tears for a moment, but went on.
"And he wants Jaquel dead. Caleb and Jaquel's father were quarrelsome...I guess Caleb wants to kill Jaquel out of spite. And, Caleb would gain land and possibly more members. He plans to do this by turning the werewolves and vampires against each other again, to weaken the other in battle while he reaps the rewards...whatever you do, don't fall for this. His plan could work."
