Joy bit her lip, trying not to smile at his smile. This will be fun with a guy who would just seem so calm seeing as death could only be days away. She had to coax herself from not smiling before her face fell blank as Effie finished her speach. Her brain was just telling to run and hide, get as far away from the Capitol as possible, too bad she wouldn't let herself though, easy way out, just becoming a mute Avox. As soon as she could just get to say bye to her family, she would be somewhat glad not seeing her mom, sad about her dad and sister that she would be leaving behind, but never her mom, she could probably give no more than a crap if she just killed herself right then and there on the stage though.

Devon tried to wipe his face of the grin, but it always seemed to come back. He shoved his hands into his pockets, and stared down at the ground. Effie continued her speech, but he knew she was soon going to finish. Everyone was getting bored, and it seemed like people were ready to go home now that they knew the good news that their children weren't picked for the games. He looked off to the side at the ones who turned out lucky, the ones who will live for atleast one more year. Good for them...
(Is Haymitch going to be the mentor or Peeta and Kitniss? Kitniss and Peeta did win the last games...)

((Yeah, Katniss and Peeta! I call playing Katniss at this time though! Oh yeah, and I'm back for a bit!))

Joy sighed. She knew with Effie this would take forever, in a bad way. On her defense, she would rather just die than be here and have to deal with just being alive whereas their distrist rarely won, so how would she even stack up there, she was thinking that she would be lucky if she could just get a five.

Devon wasn't at all paying attention to Effie, and he just thought to himself. The camera's were on Effie good thing. He was to busy trying to clear up his mind. Soon he would need to say goodbye to all his loved ones, and that would probably hurt the most. Just the thought of him not in their lives anymore scared him. So many things he would never be able to do with them, and some things they will never know. How would he fit that into an hour? He pressed his lips, keeping his face emotionless. His eyes searched around the crowd, reading their faces, trying to see how they felt about this. Well, he couldn't see to much because they all started slowly walking away. Apparently Effie had finished her speech maybe, or they were all just to bored and leaving before she was even done. Devon couldn't really tell nor did he care.

Joy sighed, this speach was dragging on forever and she was standing next to a guy that she barely even knew. Could the Games be soo crappy that they seriously had to put her standing here for so long? Her mind was racing, going over that even if she was lean, she would have to build her endurance, along with gaining a few extra pounds. She resisted from cussing on live television, but she couldn't help but just say the 'F' word once through somewhat clentched teeth as she kept her face emotionless as she just though.

Devon looked over at the girl he would be competeting against. She seemed more nervous and worried then he was, and he couldn't help but feel sorry. He gave her a look as if to say,"You'll be fine," or "Sorry." He felt a little bad that he might need to kill her, or she might need to kill him, but that's how the games worked. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought. He turned looking back at Effie. She was finally done!! He watched as people started leaving, going back to their small homes. He started walking off the stage, getting ready to go the Justice Building to say his goodbyes.

Joy bit her lip. "Great." she said sarcastically at the fact she would have a weeping little sister and a mom ready to kick her @$$ right then and there. Her steps were slow as she got off the stage, wanting to take her good old time, knowing that neither her or Devon had much time left in their lives as it was. She was about to comment and tell Devon to take his time, but where would the fun be in ruining the chance to just swallow up the fact that she seemed not even the bit phased by it now. Calmness swept over her as soon as the cameras were off of her.

Devon walked down the stage, his mind racing with different thoughts. Of course, his parents were somewhere out in that huge crowd of people, but he would see them in a few minutes anyway. The cameras were off, and he knew it was finally safe. He blended in with the crowd of the other boys, but there was not much hidding from the fact he was a tribute. While some people tried to stay as far away from his as possible, in fear of the government, others were telling him goodbye, as if he never had a chance. Of course, he tried to keep a smile, but he knew this could be the last time seeing their happy faces. He sighed to himself as he walked to the Justice Building.

Joy sighed as she walked off the stage, the cameras off of her and Devon. There were so many more thoughts than saying good bye to everyone, and yet they would just say bye to her, like it would be their final goodbye as she sank down to the height of the other girls hanging around there. Of course she was still slowly slinking away to the Justice Building, trying to take the longest route that she could possibly think of, and discreet, not wishing to be found.

Devon rounded the corner to the justice building, and soon pushed through the heavy door that sat at it's entrence. Everyone seemed to know who he was already, so no need to speak. They directed him to a room, filled with soft, comfortable furnature. He didn't live in the Seam, but he knew that different, beautiful things in this room where worth more then his house. He sunk into the couch, looking out the door for his first visitars.
