Alexis stopped back home to show her mom her new pokemon. After getting some starter money, a dozen hugs, and a million, "You sure you have everything?" 's, she headed out the door, her mom watching her leave through the window. Alexis waved behind her, and her mom waved back. Alexis could see the tears starting to form in her mother's eyes and quickly looked away. She hated to see her mother cry. "My little girl is finally starting her journey...I wish her father could see her now..." her mom whispered to herself, wiping her eyes with her hand. Alexis was thinking about her father as well. "I wish dad could see me now..." she thought. The last time Alexis had seen her father was when she was just seven years old.
~Flashback~
She remembered the fateful day when they were driving home from a full day at the market. A druck driver didn't see them in time and crashed into the front of the car. Alexis's dad was wedged between the steering wheel and his seat. Alexis was stuck in her seat as well, but wasn't as crushed as her dad. "Daddy! Are you ok?!" She didn't hear an answer. "Daddy! Please answer me!" Alexis cried. She heard sirens wailing in the distance. Soon a fireman pried her out of her seat and helped her out of the car. "Mr., you have to save my daddy! He's stuck in his seat, too!" Alexis cried. The firemen tried to pull him out, but he was wedged in, his life slowly fading away. "Daddy! Daddy!!!" Alexis was trying to get to her father, but policemen were holding her back. Then her mother pulled up and rushed to Alexis. She took Alexis's hand and led her to the car. She put Alexis in the car and shut the door, then walked back to the policemen. Alexis watched through the window and saw her mother start to cry. She had recieved news that her husband had just died.
~Flashback over~
Alexis just noticed that she hadn't moved for a while. She looked back at her house, now far away in the distance. Then she noticed her face was wet with tears, her vision blurred. She wiped her face and eyes and kept walking down the dusty road. "I know my dad is watching me from up in Heaven...he'll be with me on my journey..." Alexis said, her voice filled with spirit.
