"Papa, mask off." His daughter's voice, but she wasn't down here. He paused, glancing around the house, but no one other than Mari was here. Then he reached and undid the buckle that held the mask to his face. He lowered it slowly, letting his hair fall forward as he did. The scar across his eyes stood out compared to the rest of him. It was more like a ragged cut, not a clean line, but a ragged, uneven cut that should have made him blind. But it only changed his eyes to the ones he had now. Permanetly narrowed, able to slit like a viper's, and seeing colors sharper and clearer than human eyes.
School has settled down enough now where I can get on some, which is all the better for me.
