Rod led the way to room 2. He opened the door, then stepped aside to let her in. "Here you are." He said in the matter-o-fact tone he always had. "Dinner with be ready in 10 minutes, then you are to report down to the dinning room." He informed her, then turned and left Veira to unpack. He went back down the stairs and into the living room. Zakari was lounging on the couch, his hands behind his head and his feet on the small coffee table. His eyes were shut, as he rested with comfort. "You, boy." Rod said in a demanding voice, pointing at Zakari. "Get off of the couch and go help Beth with dinner."
Zakari opened one eye and looked at Rod with his usual smirk.
"Now." He ordered, pointing in the direction of the kitchen with a stern look on his face.
Zakari stood up. "I'm goin', I'm goin'." He said with his hands in the air, looking innocent.
Beth had gloves on as she prepared the chicken. She jumped when Zakari came in, rather loudly.
Zakari gasped as the tinfoil pan of chicken dropped from Beth's hands, he dove forword and caught it in his arms, belly to the floor. He stood up with a clever laugh.
Beth glared at Zakari and hit him hard upside the head with her gloved hand.
"Hey!" He objected to the hit. "I caught it! The least you could say is thank you." He set the chicken heavily back in her hands, a cocky smile on his face.
Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket. You may think the grass is greener on the other side
but if you take the time to water your own grass it would be just as green.
Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself,
where the heck did the ceiling go?
