Briar closed her eyes and almost drifted off into sleep before jerking her head up as the sound of a scratch at the door. She jumped to her feet, knocking aside her table scraps, and dashed toward the door. A hand stuck through the slot in the door and a few envelopes dropped through. Briar growled and nipped the hands fingers and heard the man shout from the other side. Briar turned around confidently and proudly holding the letters gently in her mouth. She trotted to underneath the table and waited.
