Grey took a combat knife and looked at it

[The wild one]

Kate got to her feet and huffed.
"I'll be on the roof if anyone needs me," she muttered, walking towards the door. She climbed up the outside stairs that led to the roof of the base. She found a good spot on the south end of the base, and lay on her stomach. She positioned her sniper rifle in front of her and adjusted the scope. She picked a target that was close to a mile away and began to fire.

Kate started to pick off the large, ostrich-like birds that were picking around the base. The ones who managed to avoid her bullets ran off screeching loudly, their small, useless wings flapping as they sprinted away. Kate grinned a little evilly every time one of the birds fell to the ground.

Kate sat up and reloaded her sniper rifle. She leaned back against a metal crate that was sitting just behind her. She rested the rifle against her shoulder and sighed.

Kate looked at Buck for a moment, then turned her eyes to the landscape. She exhaled heavily, her eyes becoming slightly unfocused.

Kate sighed and drummed her fingers against the armour on her thigh.

Kate shoved to her feet and walked to the edge of the roof. She leaned against the railing that went across the edge. It creaked ominously under her heavy weight, but she ignored the sound. She sighed.
"Do you remember what it was like, before all this happened?" she asked Buck quietly.

Kate turned, still leaning against the railing. She crossed her arms loosely over her chest and sighed. She shook her head to get the water out of her hair. She was silent for a moment.
"Have you ever thought about what your life may have been like if you hadn't been taken for the Spartan program?" she asked Buck, her voice a little curious.

Raptor was still inside the base with Grey. He was cleaning his DMR and checking it for any damage.

Grey put down the combat knife and started listening to rain

Raptor looked up, hearing the rain. He ran a hand through his hair.
"How long have you been alone?" he asked Grey.

Kate shrugged.
"I would've liked to have a normal life. A normal job; a family," she said with a sigh.
