My father slowy, gloomily walked in. I jumped up and fell apart. Right then and there.
"Atleast try, for me, and your sister" My father said. I looked up at his face, under his blue eyes where puffy and red. I knew if i didn't try he could loose the last person in his life he loved.
"I-I will try" I could barely get out the words.
"If your gonna try, pull your self togather" he whispered. i knew he was right, and the corner of my mouth curled into a grin. My dad slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out what looked like a jewel. He held out his hand. I looked up, as i put the tips of my fingers on the shiny, cold object.

Zailynne cried silently as he father left. She didn't know what to say to him, and apparently her father didn't know what to say to her either.

Personality-(More then a few words) She is clever and rebelliouse - hates the Capitol with her might. She is independent and scornful toward the 'Career' tributes, and cannot understand why they would chose wha seems to her to be a death sentance. She is also loyal if you manage to befriend her, but most don't. On the outside she appears cold and hostile but this is only so she cannot get emotionally to the other tributes which she will evenually have to kill. She does not trust easily, and mos often is not to be trusted, either.
History-(More then a few words) She came from Disrict 13 and, when it was destroyed, her parents grabbed her and ran. They knew they would soon be found and killed so they left her with a family in District 8, begging them to pretend she was their daughter. They agreed, and never told Líanda of her true identity for gear of putting her in danger of being discovered. Líanda does not remember her real parents, but she has that rebelious spirit that District 13 had. She also feels that her foster family is keeping a secret from her.

Strengths- Clever, fast. Does not trust easily. Knows when to run. Agile.
Weakness- Not physically strong. Often she cracks under too much pressure. She hates knowing that there are cameras watching her. She has never killed a person before, and doesn't want to.

I slipped my finger tips off the object, I looked up at my dad. He put the necklace around my neck, the chain felt cold on my skin. I picked up the object at the end of the necklace, it was spherical, shining, and my mother's. I looked at the pearl for quiet some time, I could remember my mother wearing the necklace when she cooked, cleaned, swam, slept. She never took it off.
"Your mother wanted you to have it, when you turned 18 but now is a better time then ever" My father said as he walked away. I didn't know what to say, I just didn't want to go to the capital, to the arena. Of course nothing I could say or do could stop that from happening. I was always so independent but now...now I seem so childish and weak.

'Now for the girl tribute...' the peacekeeper began. Everyone was silent.
'And it's Líanda!' Líanda froze. everyone was watching her. She felt herself grow cold. Her mother put a protective hand on her shoulder. Slowly, numbly, Lía began to walk towards the stage. She closed her eyes. She wanted to stay here, in District 8, with the loving family she thought was her own. Safe. But what she wanted didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was what the Capitol wanted. The Capitol and President Snow. She kept her eyes down so as not to see the other tribute, the boy she would have to kill if she was to survive. Líanda hated the thought of killing a person - no, twenty-three people - but she hated the thought of never returning home more. She felt like this was all a bad dream. What had been the chance of her name getting picked? Clearly a big enough chance for it to happen. She resolved never to speak to any other tributes. It would only make killing them harder. Well, perhaps with the exception of the Carriers. They were asking to be killed by signing up for this. And they would be. She would be the winner. Or so she tryed to convince herself, but a tiny voice in the back of her head told her what she already knew p she would never make it back.

Líanda didn't speak to anybody at the train station. Talking would make her cry, and crying was a sign of weakness. Signs of weakness would make her lose supporters. And without supporters, she was as good as dead. Come to think of it, she was already as good as dead, from the moment her name had been pulled. Her best friend pulled her into a hug.
'Promise me you'll win. You'll show the Capitol that getting rid of you isn't that easy.' Líanda merely nodded, and set off towards the train.

After saying goodbye to my few friends and my father I was led to a train station. This train, it was picking me and the other tribute up and taking us to the capital. Fun eh'? No it wouldn't be, atleast I think. I await for the train, and the tribute to arrive. I stood there, at the station looking at District 4. I sighed and the smell of sea water filled the air, i took a deep breath to calm my self.
