𝐄𝐌𝐌𝐀[female]..[16]..[demi/heterosexual]..[medjack keeper]..[location: medical room]..[mentions: tag]..[tags: bree]..────────────────────────────────────────The tears that had welled in Emma's big eyes had let loose, and were now trickling down her face like sorrow-filled raindrops that pooled down their cracked windows in the Glade. The crack in Bree's voice was enough to shatter her own heart. The girl was a wash of shades, now, and Emma was unable to take even a second to wipe the tears away to get a proper glimpse of Bree again. It took too much strength, and Emma was a walking figure of unbalanced jello, swaying with the pressure and drifts that swirled around her. The longer she stood there, motionless, as still as a stone statue, the more aggressive the pulsing in her head became. It had started at the back of her head, where her low ponytail had been tied together, but cupped the outline of her skull, sliding over her ears, and now was in full effect at the front half of her head. It was drumming against her temples, and even her eyes were beginning to feel sore; Emma was thankful she didn't have to move her gaze around, because each flicker of a glimpse was dangerously painful. She collapsed back on the bed, slumped, defeated.
Her mind flashed back quickly to the Maze. The muddy, musky scent filled her nostrils, making it far too vivid for her pleasing. She was no longer in the bright medical room, but that final corridor that led them here. Watching, staring helplessly as Bree crumbled to the ground, sobs shaking her entire body. Emma hadn't even been there, but she could envision it perfectly. The blonde reaching for her deceased friend, cursing herself for her mistakes, as if Draco's death was her fault. And yet, for whatever reason, it hit differently, the atmosphere, the tension. For back in the Maze, Bree was desperate to scrape up Draco's body and bring him back, whereas here, "I thought you were dead" was enough for Emma to put the pieces together. She'd given up. Her strength and determination had gone solemnly towards the Track-Hoe. Even if that wasn't the case, Emma couldn't help but selfishly feel that way. Perhaps it was that craving that was making her feel sickly. This wasn't her. And yet, she couldn't hop the fence and see it through another lens. She was stuck, rooted in the thickest mud puddle in the dreary forest of silent abandonment. Even with her lovely Bree right in front of her, Emma still felt lonely. She couldn't rid it.
With a sniff, Emma's hands tightened around the bedsheets she had just collapsed onto. Her feet barely touched the ground, but the tips of her shoes brushed against the surface, which was enough to ensure her that she had the balance to continue on without the fear of potentially collapsing forward again.
"Where have you been?" she murmured, tone susurrus, as if she hadn't even heard a single thing Bree had just said, even though she did. Was the medical room she was currently in that far away from everyone else? It couldn't have been, if Romi managed to find her way in. Emma knew Romi wasn't typically the type to stray far from the group, unless that, too, had changed. In reality, it seemed everything was changing, and that upset Emma. She continued on with the tiniest shake of her head.
"Has everyone been avoiding us?" At this rate, her tone was barely audible. It was laced with slight disbelief, horror, maybe, but it was considerably towards herself and not towards Bree, even though she didn't have the answer herself. It worried her, getting a response, regardless of what side of the spectrum it fell on.
Taking in a cold breath through her nose, body still fairly hunched over, she tilted her head up just a bit.
"They're so nice here, Bree," she continued in the same tone, though this time it was evidently more towards Bree than under her breath.
"Cassie and Deanna─" she stopped to give Deanna, who was walking by, the quickest of smiles─
"are taking such good care of us. I think I could see myself here, Bree, I really could. And... And I'm sure they've got plenty of things for you to do. And the others. These people really care."━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐒[male]..[18]..[bisexual]..[wckd employee]..[location: his room -> cafeteria]..[mentions: kennedy, tag]..[tags: ryuu]..────────────────────────────────────────Silas couldn't help but sneak a quick glance over his shoulder in the direction of the shower room as he headed towards the medical room's exit. It was a bit odd, actually. That entire interaction, really. Going from very little talk on a day-to-day basis to
that seemed to suck a lot out of him, and yet, at the same time, he could see feel the smallest of smiles tugging at his lips. Wasn't that strange? Cassie made him laugh, but she wasn't really funny; it was often her monotonous responses to his sarcasm that made it so delightful. Getting any sort of emotion that touched on the more light-hearted side of things wasn't something of familiarity. And through that all, Silas kind of enjoyed it. Not that that's something he'd ever say.
Peeling off his gloves and mask, Silas sanitized, then exited the room, bringing his index and middle finger up to his forehead to mockingly salute the two who had sent him some rather nasty glares earlier that day. He was on a mission now, and his gaze barely faltered as he slipped back into his room. His finger flew across the mousepad, as if he was scribbling, as he woke up his sleeping computer. Knocking the door shut with the heel of his foot, Silas clicked on a few tabs, then relaxed into his seat as rows of files filled with information flooded the screen. He only had one thing in mind. Find that girl's name. He supposed it would have been easier to do it by peeking in her little set-up room, but he didn't want to be in that place any more than he had to. Eventually, her now-familiar face popped up.
Kennedy. Her name was Kennedy. She'd been in the Glade too long for him to have remembered without glancing at a computer screen. He closed the laptop, knowing all-too-well he'd be back to stalk their information tonight, then exited his room, taking the simple path down to the cafeteria to finish the food he'd collected earlier. He sighed through his nose as the noise burst around him, dark eyes skimming the tables for somewhere to sit. He reluctantly chose the closest table, even though it had someone at it.
"I don't blame you," he said, as if he was continuing a conversation, as he heavily plopped into a seat across the pale raven-haired stranger.
"These people all seem ridiculous; wouldn't want to hang around them, either."━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐈[male]..[17]..[heterosexual]..[cook]..[location: cafeteria -> hall near Glader rooms]..[mentions: ada, idunn, tag]..[tags: romi]..────────────────────────────────────────The humming of the noise in the cafeteria had grown immensely, to a degree where their various voices now appeared to be a squealing squawk of different tones. Usually, this was a sound Kili felt settled with, for he'd always appreciated the feeling of being surrounded by others, but now, it was different. He was sensitive, and he knew that all-too-well. He knew Idunn and Hani meant well, too, especially because they didn't know anything about him other than the fact that his name was Kili, but it was strange, how a clipped conversation like that could trigger his inner emotions. Kili
liked the Maze Girls, he really did. He supposed he hadn't really realized just how much their teasing took a toll on him.
He'd been eager to meet new people upon escaping the Maze, for it gave him an opportunity to find his sense of self amongst a group of mingled sexes. It seemed he had yet to discover that, though, given how often he found himself dwelling on the remarks and snippy comments he'd gotten since his arrival in the Maze. It was time to change that though, and make new friends. Start something connecting, intimate. He found himself hot with embarrassment upon noting that Idunn was still on his mind as he popped into the cafeteria to grab a bottle of water. Would it be weird if he asked her what was going on between her and Hani? Probably not, since Kili didn't want to start tracing her image in his mind if she was the guy's girlfriend. Would
that be weird? Very likely. Kili couldn't help it, really. He'd fallen into a relationship a month or so upon his arrival. It didn't last long, for he realized she'd been cheating on him with some other girl, but it was sweet while it was a thing. Kili craved that closeness again. He was visibly surrounded by people, but he was lonely. Even just a close friend would be nice.
It was weird, because at that exact moment, his mind snapped back to the petite girl who had been shedding tears near where Kili was standing a moment or two ago. He felt bad, like it was his fault she'd been crying, despite knowing absolutely nothing about her scenario. Maybe a check-in would help the both of them. Turning on his heel, he shot Ada a smile, one that told her he'd be back, then left the noisy cafeteria, finding it oddly relieving, the silence of the halls. He avoided the section where Idunn and Hani were likely still standing to avoid any awkwardness, deciding to head back to his room. That was probably where he'd likely find her. He wasn't going to run around the halls in some weird chasing action, so if he saw her, great, and if not, that was fine too.
Ironically enough, the second that thought left his mind, he could sight of her. A pretty little thing, she was, with such a sorrow-filled expression across her features that Kili felt for her. A frown playing at his lips, he set his water down at a random spot in the hallway, then took a few steps towards her.
"Hey," he near-cooed, careful not to spook her if she was lost in her thoughts.
"Hey... Are you all right?"
