𝐄𝐌𝐌𝐀[female]..[16]..[demi/heterosexual]..[medjack keeper]..[location: medical room]..[mentions: cassie, tags]..[tags: bree]..────────────────────────────────────────Emma's gaze trailed behind the WCKD employee, the young girl who had just introduced herself as Cassie. A look of
something had flashed across her face, but Emma felt she had said too much within a short period of time to know what exactly it was that had coaxed such an expression across her features. She didn't appear to be angry, but it had definitely caught her off guard. Her expression was shadowy, and Emma knew she had messed up somewhere. She pressed her lips together anxiously, but the girl was long gone; she had no time to apologize. Guilt swarmed inside of her like bees to a hive, and she looked away. Speaking her mind in a place like this probably wasn't the best thing to do. She was only a guest, after all, and no matter how sweet and friendly these workers appeared to be, she was nothing more than a wounded stranger.
Sighing under her breath, she rested against the back frame of her bed again, fingers twiddling as her mind wandered. Despite acknowledging the fact that her brain was busy, Emma couldn't quite seem to figure out what exactly it was she was thinking about. She felt like things were revolving around her, as if all was a blur, and yet, at the same time, it moved in complete slow-motion. Colours and objects placed around her began to turn into a water-painted artwork, and Emma was washed in the midst of it all. A feminine voice, familiar and strong, though with a hint of unsureness, sounded from somewhere nearby, breaking the thick foggy glass that had formed around Emma. She slid her legs around the side of the bed and stood ─ a bit too quickly ─ as the voice processed in her mind. Bree... It was Bree, without a doubt. Her tone lacked the smile Emma envisioned the second her voice floated into her mind, as if she was talking to a near-stranger, but it was certainly Bree. A smile lighting up Emma's own face, she hurriedly pivoted to the direction she believed her friend was in. The smile fell instantly upon sneaking in a glance at her friend, who looked as though she had seen a ghost. This wasn't the Bree Emma remembered. There was no sparkle in her coconut brown eyes, and her facial muscles were tight, revealing a grim, almost uncomfortable look.
"Bree." Emma's tone had copied Bree's; unsure, uneasy. It surprised even herself; it almost seemed as though she was disappointed. Was she? This wasn't the Bree she had envisioned, after all. Maybe Bree really hadn't wanted to see her.
Romi had come, after all, so surely it wasn't like there was a blocked off entrance, right? Was Bree mad? Had Emma offended her somehow? Whatever the case may be, her stomach was tightening, as if she was going to be sick.
"Why..." she began, then paused, unsure of how exactly to word what she was thinking, especially because she couldn't quite piece her thoughts together.
"I didn't think you wanted to see me." Bree's figure became blurry, which suggested there were tears forming on her lower lashes. Her voice cracked as she continued hoarsely,
"You didn't come see me..."━━━━━━━━━━━━━

He tapped his shoes together, hands sliding to around his back, where he let them hang there loosely. The vibe between them had shifted, something even he was able to pick up on. Sincerity, generosity, forgiveness. It seemed as though for once in his life, he'd done the right thing. Silas hadn't ever been one to break out into song and dance when given a proper thank-you, and he fought hard to successfully hold back a smile, but a small lopsided one slipped. He tucked his lips inward, as if attempting to suck back the smile, but it was no use. A tight-lipped one allowed itself to be visible for a second or two before he drew himself together once again.
"No offence taken," he vocalized in return. It was truthful; sure, it had certainly caught him off guard, but Silas was quick to realize it wasn't harmful. Putting himself in the position was strange at first, but that was life.
Was he
actually becoming comfortable with a Maze Kid? For all he knew, she still had fleas or something.
"Yeah..." He nodded once, looking up at the ceiling, then back at her.
"It wasn't a problem." He didn't really know what else to say. Warmth had spread through him at her kind words, even if they weren't anything extraordinary. It wasn't often he wasn't getting snapped at by one of the higher authority WCKD employees. This was a nice change, as squeamish as he felt in the moment.
He silently watched her turn and close to door behind her, the steel door of the shower room replacing her figure. He hadn't had time to answer, mostly due to the fact that his mind seemed to want to process things slower, and by the time everything that left her mind became audible, she was gone. Was that a good thing, her comment about seeing him around? Did she
actually want to, or was that just the thing people said to awkwardly peel themselves out of a conversation? Whatever the case may be, that tight-lipped, lopsided smile reemerged, and he looked away.
"See ya," he mumbled, as if she was still there, before turning to leave her alone.

He was now viewing them at a different angle due to the few steps he'd taken in a new direction, but didn't bother shuffling back to his old spot. After all, he'd made it clear he had intentions on going elsewhere. It was evident neither wanted to follow him, yet the conversation carried on, which Kili found a bit odd. He said nothing, though, but his gaze clouded in a quizzing manner at Hani's question.
"No," he responded lightly. Maybe Hani just hadn't heard him. He certainly seemed distracted, so that would make sense.
"No, I'm not alone. But they didn't put me in a room full of the girls I lived with, which kind of makes sense or whatever. Unless yours are mixed? The rooms here, I mean, not back in your maze." He tilted his head questioningly, curiosity sparkling in his orbs for a second or two.
His eyes flickered back over to Idunn and gave yet another shrug.
"Something like that," he responded simply. It was fine for the most part, anyway. Kili doubted there was as much harassing and teasing — as lighthearted as the girls' apparent original intentions were — in this co-ed Maze Idunn and Hani came from, but he didn't really feel it was appropriate to ask. After all, these two appeared to be getting along quite well.
He looked at Hani, then back at Idunn again, whose cheeks had reddened slightly. Based on her somewhat dragged-out action, he felt it was right to loosely assume she was tired. Based on the bandage on her head, Kili figured she'd had some sort of incident that had knocked her breath out of her, so it wasn't much of a surprise. He felt somewhat guilty, despite not having been in the moment whatsoever.
"If you're tired, you really don't have to," he added quickly, glancing at a now-pale Hani. He didn't step forward, but didn't continue walking towards the cafeteria, either.
"Really, it was only a small offer."
