A tiny smile insistently tugged at Karter's lip at the flustered Cook. So easily done in by praise. Karter himself was...not exactly in the same boat, so to speak, but it was nice to know one's work was appreciated. That he did understand. He sat down at the table in the galley and set his plate down in front of him, sitting down to eat. "Oh yeah! Hey, Buck, the guy who brought in Nyx. Did the captain say anythin' 'bout him yet? Who he is or where he’s from? Or if he’s even allowed to be here?" He asked. He’d meant to ask earlier, but when the conversation had shifted to the matter of the ship's Doctor, the thought had completely slipped his mind.

"Okay?" Coby raised an eyebrow, fixing his eyes on the other man curiously, then turning his gaze down to Shiana. He’d never have the patience to train a dog, or any other animal, for that matter, he figured, so he admire anyone who took that responsibility upon themselves.

Buck looks up from his plate, caught off guard. He had been meaning to mention the newcomer but it completely slipped his mind once they got onto the topic of the absent doctor. "Oh, that was Portgas D. Ace, Second Division commander of the Whitebeard pirates, and I believe he has permission from the captain to stay for a bit while Nyx is recovering. From what I could pick up it seems as though they may have been childhood friends."

Karter had been happily munching his pancakes, but froze when Buck spoke, swallowing and drawing his gaze to the cook. "I...um... wait a sec. You're telling us we have one of the high ranking crewmen of one of the biggest and most notorious pirate crews in the world and it hasn’t even been questioned?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "And a division commander at that?"

Even if it wasn’t healthy, Karter couldn’t help but be just a bit suspicious. What if it was the Whitebeard Pirates sending a spy, seeing if these rookies would become a potential threat or had information? Even if the pirate claimed to be a friend of the first mate... then why did we never hear about this before? He wondered. If the captain had spoken, then the captain had spoken, but he’d make sure to keep a sharp eye.

The intelligent and stealthy girl giggled, then smiled at her own childhood friend. She hummed as she ate, then looked up again. She listened to Karter as he asked about the guy, then the cook answered him. She said "Childhood friends, that's something I can relate to."

The boy hummed as he stood beside his father, whom was making some cupcakes. He was waiting for his turn with them. What is meant by that is that he gets to decorate them and such. He huffed as he heard the shop door open and shut, thinking she must have left.

The friendly but shy male hummed, brushing through his dark hair again. He smiled a bit at his companion, then looked to Shiana. She wagged her tan tail again, and he nodded to Coby then. "Shiana, pet store, " he said, and the dog began to lead the way there.

Coby watched as Lucian issued the order to find the pet store. Not surprising. What WAS surprising was when, upon the words being spoken, the dog began to...lead the way? "What, GPS-dog?" He joked, but Shiana certainly looked like she knew where she was going!

Nyx shifted over in her bed so that Ace could sit down if he wanted to instead of standing up all the time. “Well, it’s obviously not your fault because you can’t stop something that isn’t in your control. Anyways, I’m not that memorable so of course you wouldn’t have retained the information” she replied.

"Trying the old guilt trip from earlier, huh?" However, a small smile came to the young man's face as he settled himself next to her. "It probably wasn’t a fact of not being memorable. I was only in that school for a few months before I got myself kicked out, and I was... not exactly the most attentive to others as a kid," He remembered.

"Going forward from here, I seriously doubt we'll have the forgetfulness issue again," He added.
