Karter hesitated momentarily where he was, then held out his hand to offer Quin a hand up. For all his hate of touch, he could shake it off for the sake of someone who needed comfort, even if only for a moment. His pale gaze softened when she spoke the name of her daughter, Kiia. "She's still out there." He couldn’t promise that, but he hoped to at least offer some form of hope. "And one way or another, one day you’ll find her." The thought of a child having been transported to the Grand Line though... Just the thought made him shiver.

"Aunts or uncles, huh? Well it’s good she has SOMEONE aside from her jerk dad." It was only a small comfort, the pirate couldn’t help but think, but it was still something. Karter scowled at the thought of the situation as a whole. He’d experienced jerk dad before. He hated the idea of anyone growing up that way. However, he forced a smile and stepped out of the small cabin and headed towards the galley.

Coby had never felt THREATENED by Headquarters. That had been his main base since Garp had taken him and Helmeppo in. He’d trained there proudly. Then he’d been moved here when suspicious activity had begun and there weren’t enough leader figures. He'd built himself up as much as he could. He’d earned SOME respect within the ranks. He’d made a couple friends, was learning the town layout, he had a BOYFRIEND, so the idea that he might be transferred was for the first time a bit scary. Coby stared at his food for a long moment, then tried to wipe the worry from his face as Lucian came to join him. "Sorry. It isn’t fair to unload all that on you."

"Havin' experience with knowin' what it’s like to be away from a mum, I’ll do whatever I can to help reunite the two of you," he promised. "Just tell me what to do."

Coby relaxed when he wasn’t pushed away. Aside from the squeak, there wasn’t much of a reaction to the sudden touch, but that was perfectly fine. He had only finished half his food, but was content to just sit there, relaxed against Lucian, though refused to drop the full weight of his head onto his partner's shoulder, with Lucian being not much different in build and height than he himself.
