Nyx tried to make sense of what had just happened, but her brain was muddled with the fog of pain and confusion. "It..." she began to say, "Are you sure it's safe?" she asked in a barely audible voice, her eyes sliding closed again.

There was something familiar about this situation. About the look on the woman's name. Nyx Sardothia... Sardothia. It was a unique name, but yet, a familiar one. Ace nodded. "I’m sure, just stay conscious, okay? I...I can’t go looking for a doctor, or I’ll be caught, is there a doctor on your ship?"

Buck frowns "I have no clue where our doctor wandered off to. But I am trained in advanced first aid, I can help until we can find a real doctor." Buck quickly checks for broken bones, noting the bruise beginning to form on her ribcage before very gently scooping his ship's first mate up, flashing one last unreadable look at Ace to signal that he won't protest if the other pirate follows before taking Nyx to the Calm Belt Pirates' infirmary. "Nyx is hurt! Has anyone seen the doctor?"

Ace hesitated. The more people saw his face, the worse risk he was at, but...he wanted to make sure Nyx was okay, one way or another. So he reluctantly released her, letting the Cook take her instead, but followed from not far behind. He’d stick around until someone told him to get out, or until he knew she would be okay. Whichever came first.

Micah warily eyed the newcomer that followed Buck, carrying an unconscious Nyx. "No, I haven’t, but I’ll get a cabin bed ready for her so she can be laid down," She offered, then rushed off to do just that.

Nyx

The feeling of impending doom still hadn’t left Nyx’s system and so she was still silently panicking. Despite herself though, she couldn’t help but think about why Ace was as familiar to her, but she knew that due to the Marines she couldn’t mention it, not here at least. Even if she wanted to, she wasn’t in too much pain. “I d-don’t know” was all she could stutter to Ace and Buck, wincing as she was picked up. She looked over Bucks shoulder back at Ace.

Catching her eye, Ace forced a smile. The look in her eye... SCARILY familiar, but he couldn’t quite put a finger on it. He would have reached forward to take her hand, just for a second, to reassure her, but he wasn’t sure how that would be received, by either herself or her crewmate. "It'll be okay. No sea monsters here, you’re with your crew. You’ll be okay."

Buck's voice softens as he hears Nyx try to speak "Don't worry Nyx, I'll take good care of you, I promise." He hesitantly hands Nyx over to Ace, only doing so because he saw how comfortable she seemed with him, but not before giving him a pointed glare, promising a painful death if he mishandled his precious crewmate. Instead, he focusses on preparing the medical supplies to treat her injuries, all the while staring Ace down like a hawk as he knows exactly who the newcomer is. The heart pirates had made him do his research before allowing him to set off on his own, and although he had heard nothing bad about the Whitebeard pirates, it was never good to be too trusting out at sea.

Ace didn’t miss the harsh, almost accusatory glare. He just smiled in response, calm, silent, and took Nyx back, holding her carefully. If he’s worried I’ll hurt her somehow, then we'll have no issues. "Should I take her to the cabin your crewmate offered to prepare?" He asked, looking between Nyx and Buck.

Nyx

Nyx frowned slightly, her brows creasing because she felt bad that she was taking up attention. More than what she felt she was worthy of. “I’m... sorry I wasn’t more careful” she croaked to those around her, trying not to let her pride get ahead of her. She was too weak and feeble, it made her uncomfortable. “Thank you” she struggled to get out the second sentence. She nestled into Ace before casting a glance at Buck. She weakly flashed a knowing smile. “How bad is it?” She asked, softly coughing.

Ace took a deep breath and slowly let it go. "You don’t need to apologize. We sparred, stuff went wrong." A sick feeling came to his stomach. We were sparring...I pushed her back, even if I didn’t mean to. He realized. "It happens, and what matters is you’re alive, you’re conscious. Just...STAY conscious, okay?"
