The long ride on the plane, to say the least, had been tiring and boring. Tamesis has listened through the other passenger's mundane small-talk. There was an "artist", as they had so carefully put many times, as if they had not understood. And there was a break-dancer as well. The talents of the other students he had not heard, for after that he'd turned the music back up on his phone, a Droid Ally that sometimes froze and he had to manually restart.
It was better than listening to their excited chatter.
Why were they so excited to be going to a new school? He could understand meeting new people was fun, but...
Once the plane had begun to descend, he was glad. Maybe his dorm room would be quiet and he could write on his computer. Or, since the weather appeared to be nice, he could walk outside for a bit after getting to know the rules.
"...get one of our eyes coloured..." he heard a Japanese boy say. It was only a fragment of the sentence, but that caught his attention. What sort of school were they headed to?
He grabbed his bags, two carry-ons and one larger one on wheels, and reached for the most important cargo. On expensive pet carrier was a golden plaque engraved Lady. Inside lay a soft, sleeping black form, the very creature that matched the name on that plaque.
"Lady, we're on the ground now. You can rest a little easier, darling."
Tamesis hurried off the plane and found himself behind a brown-haired girl toting a hairless cat.
I'm glad Lady has such a lovely, supple body with fur, he thought disgustedly, though he kept his emotions perfectly hidden inside his mind.
What a weird bunch I've gotten mixed with, he thought as the Japanese boy all but flung himself onto a man who shared the same black hair as Tamesis.
He didn't really listen to what the Headmaster had to say, just summarized what he heard. Behave, don't become broke, do good in school.
He placed his luggage on the cart when directed, but chose to hold onto Lady's cage. She was just too special to leave on a cart. He approached the Headmaster and bowed in an almost knightly way.
"Hello, Mr. Sebastian. My name is Tamesis Leonard. It's a...pleasure to meet you, sir."
