Reyna's head was empty of plans, unlike that of her smarter ally. All she could think about was the piles of food before her. Too impatient to wait till they sat down, she popped District Nine's multigrain roll into her mouth. It tasted like soft cereal.
She grinned as Sharnaz picked out a secluded table, perfect for gossip and sinister secrets. Even better, the Careers' table was on the route there. "Awesome! But watch this. If we pick on the Careers, the others will think we're tough." A flimsy excuse, but Reyna set off without another word. Slapping Eden didn't satisfy her. She wanted his spirit crushed before the Games even began.
As she passed by the Careers' table, she made direct eye contact with Eden the Embarrassment. One of his allies had just said something, so Reyna took the opportunity to jump in. "Hey, great job manipulating those poor girls! I'd love to see their faces when you slaughter them in the arena. Bet mommy dearest would be proud - if she's still around. I wouldn't blame her for walking out."
Barking a hostile laugh, she stalked off to the far table to place down her tray. How was that crybaby even a Career?

Eden listened to Killick's list of favorite foods, but his expression became concerned upon hearing about the 'interesting' fishing trip. "Those foods sound wonderful, but I hope you're alright! Catching fish sounds more dangerous than I thought," He admitted.
It seemed the District Two tributes ate vastly different diets back home. Chaska's rigid regime sounded so different from Gloria's rich, fine dining. Eden thought of discussing the food of District One, but the conversation was already shifting elsewhere. He chuckled softly at Gloria's comment about the outer-district tributes. Before he could answer, though, the fiery girl from District Twelve burst into the conversation. Rude, passive-aggressive remarks flew from her mouth. Excuse me? No one invited you...
"Life is short, even more so in the arena." Eden replied to Gloria without even acknowledging the unwelcome guest. That jab about his mother cut deeper than any blade, but he hid it well behind a soft smile. There was no use wasting his time - and everyone else's - on a ruffian's immature insults. "Even as a Career, I'd like to show kindness wherever possible. Sometimes that's all I can do."
Even after she left, Reyna's words echoed in his head. He just pushed them aside to deal with later. Besides, it was time for Chaska to share facts about himself. Eden decided to venture out and ask the first question. "Besides the scythe, what are your favorite weapons? I'd love to have a swords duel sometime." He smiled gently, showing it was a friendly offer.
