Gloria offered a silent smile to Eden as he patched her up. It was as kind a thank you Gloria Lace could give. "Oh no. I don't need rest. I'm fine." Gloria huffed retreating to her cold snobbish exterior. Although she knew she'd give in. As soon as she stood up she felt like sitting down again, and despite all of her training she had never felt this odd before. I can't win if i don't take care of myself. She eventually thought. "Alright fine." Gloria growled, before carefully taking Chaska's outstretched hand. She had more human connection in the past fifteen minutes than in most of her lifetime. In fact, she wasn't sure if her parents had ever hugged her. They just stuffed her in fancy dresses and sent her to beauty pageants in between knife throwing classes.

Now that she thought about it... Gloria Lace, the snobbish, bratty, abhorrent girl from district two realized... that the hug Eden gave her was the first hug she had ever received in her entire life.

Penny was glad that they'd be going back. Although there was something about Sienna's voice that made her not want to stick around when the moorhens she talked about showed up. There had to be some reason Sienna knew about them- right? "Oh! Well- we don't actually know much about the other quadrants. We've been in the rocky one this whole time." It occurred to Penny Sienna probably didn't know what she was talking about. "West I think. The only food there was wild strawberries. They were so yummy but I'll be thankful to eat something else for a change."

Caspia Searobin | District 4 | Location: Camp | Tags: Careers |
Caspia was pleased as Chaska's eyes widened at her threat, which appeared to be serving it's purpose, but nodded seriously as Eden spoke of District 2 tributes torturing themselves with exhaustion. Sleep was important for even the most hardy of careers, sometimes the selflessness of letting the others sleep in could be a death sentence. Eden then suggested he make chamomile tea, with Madeline agreeing to join him in the hunt for flowers.
"Of course." Caspia agreed immediately when she was asked to start the water boiling, finally tying off the bandages for Chaska. "Yell if you need anything." She told the District 2 pair as they moved off to get some rest. She might not have had the highest of opinions of Gloria but the District 2 girl wasn't looking great, and she definitely wanted them both to get some rest. Caspia then headed to the leftovers of their campfire, relighting it and beginning to heat the water.

Felix Prestman | District 12 | Location:  | Tags: Penny, Sienna.|
It was a relief to see Sienna agree to return the camp. Felix knew how much that quilt meant to Penny, and neither of them had had the chance to rest since that goat mutt had so rudely interrupted them. His forehead creased in confusion as Sienna mentioned moorhens in the same sentence as mutts. Since when were moorhens a problem? As Penny responded to her question about their favourite quadrant he nodded in agreement. "The rocks all moved around and I thought we were going to get trapped so it wasn't great. Have you had the chance to explore many?"

Sienna Mach-North| D7 |17|Tags:Penny,Felix | loc: south -> east

“That’s horrible, I’m glad you both made it out! But to answer that just the south and the bit of the east with Jay after the careers took care of us for a couple of hours.” She said thoughtfully. “Wild strawberries sound delicious! The east has the best fish but the south did have moorhen eggs, but I wouldn’t mess with those crazy birds they have horrible talons and if they scratch its bad. I Haven’t seen much in the east though.” Sienna stated as they continued their journey back while she noticed the warm fire in the distance.

Demitra Sparks District Three NPC Antagonist
Location: North
Tagged: No one
With a final slash of her blade, Demitra severed the dead mutt's haunch from its body. It was mostly covered with scales, but meat was meat. Surely it wouldn't matter to these beasts. She'd examined the dead mutts throughly - their jaws were more than powerful enough to crush scaled plates. The main problem lay elsewhere: How could she lure an entire pack of mutts with a single cut of meat?
Then it struck her. This meat wouldn't be the main appetizer... Demitra herself would. She needed to entice the mutts to chase her, and there was no better way but to make herself look like a Career. Gritting her teeth against the bitter cold, she rolled her sleeves up to give the impression of a hardy mountainsgoer from District Two. A little war paint was easily done with the relatively fresh blood from her cut of meat. Of course, he made sure to get it on her hands too.
Because those monsters always have their allies' blood on their hands, she thought with a venomous scowl. Honestly, I'm doing the other Careers a favor by bringing the mutts to them. At least they won't have to deal with the inevitable betrayal from that disgusting murderer Eden. All his kindness is fake, I know his type. He'd happily murder his weakened allies and claim he's doing a good deed.
Her face twisted into a deeper scowl, distorting her features into a mask of pure hatred. This was what she wanted. Hate and bitterness could chase away the grief, could make her forget about what happened to Zoe on the beach. It was so easy to see the world this way - right and wrong, black and white, Careers and humans. Gripping the mutt leg like a club, she set out to find her new 'friends'.

Madeline Gomez//District 1//Female//A brat//Tagged; Eden

Madeline couldn’t help but smile as she watched Eden laugh, he seemed a bit happier after her great and amazing criticism. Who wouldn’t be? Her criticism is the best and everyone should be honored to receive it! Everyone should be lined up to receive criticism from her, it would make their lives so much better.

“You’re welcome! Who wouldn’t need such an incredible thing from me!” She exclaimed, her ego growing bigger and bigger with every passing moment. She clearly only thought that Eden was referring to the lessons and her criticism. She wasn’t exactly smart enough to realize what Eden actually meant with his statement. “It’ll benefit everyone. You’ll finally be able to make decent insults and we won’t have to deal with anymore vile insults that make me want to rip my ears off.” She continued to insist how great her lessons would be for him, insulting his amateur insults in the process. She was just telling the truth, Eden’s insults were absolutely sickening! Luckily she would help him improve his disgusting skills so that his threats won’t be so absurd anymore!

She scoffed at Eden’s attempt to appear stern. He even sucked at holding a simple look. Gosh, she had so much work ahead of her. Rolling her eyes she turned and followed Eden out of the camp, already planning out what she would teach him first. She couldn’t exactly teach him everything, that would take years that they unfortunately didn’t have anymore. She’d start off with the basics, how to make a decent insult.

“We’ll have to start from the very beginning, the bare essentials! You’re so terrible at insults that we have to cover the most basic lesson!” She just had to insult Eden again before starting, it was practically obligatory to do so! “We have to start off with the basics, things that even a tiny parasite would already know! How to make an insult, because your insults are so vile that not even the most idiotic rats would take you seriously!” She continued to insult him as she began her lesson.

“First of all, you need to actually insult them! Call them morons, tell them they smell horrendous like a bin full of rotten fruits that not even the most desperate raccoons would go near! Throw in some insulting name-calling. Call them rats, roaches, mutts, beasts, or anything that comes to mind that wouldn’t make them say thank you! You can’t call them puppies or flowers, that would be a compliment. Unless you’re able to twist it into something insulting, like a dying flower, then don’t use those!” Madeline seemed very passionate on the subject of insulting 101, after all it’s practically the only thing she actually knows. While everyone else was actually paying attention in the Career academy, Madeline was busy coming up with and practicing all of her future insults. She basically gave up the opportunity to learn how to read and write just so she could create the best insults and become the master of trash-talk! Was it worth it? Definitely!! Madeline never wanted to read and write anyways, that’s for stupid rats! She didn’t need those dumb abilities when she had an even better one!

“Be creative with your insults. You need a variety of them! They need to all be unique. You can't just say the same insult over and over again! It gets old eventually. Also don’t just copy off of other people. I know it might be enticing, since my insults are the best quality of insults you can come across, but it’s rude! You don’t want to be a discourteous rat, do you?” That was a rhetorical question and she hoped Eden wasn’t dumb enough to answer it. Despite the fact that the main purpose of insults was to be rude, copying off of others wasn’t the type of rudeness you wanted to go after. Only idiotic rats would purposefully copy off of other people!!

“That’s the simplest version of the basics. Now let’s practice! I’ve heard somewhere that practice makes you perfect! You won’t be as perfect as me but that’s obvious!! No one can be as perfect as me.”

Eden Beauregard District One Career
Location: Plains
Tagged: Madeline, Sienna and gang (?)
Eden couldn't help laughing as Madeline continued to insult him. It seemed to be a hobby of hers, as she'd frequently hurl insults back home too. Every day brought a new barrage of creative and interesting jibes. At this point, it was probably impossible for him to get offended by her trash talk - it was just a harmless pasttime of hers. Strangers might get offended when meeting her for the first time, but they'd soon realize it was all in good fun. Even Gloria seemed to feel the camaderie more than the insolence now, which warmed Eden's heart.
Although his eyes were focused on the landscape ahead, he was taking in every word of Madeline's lecture. Just because she never learned to read didn't mean she was stupid or illogical - she clearly had a good grasp on the structure of a lesson, starting with the basic build blocks of an insult. She also threw in some examples and tips here and there. By the end of it, Eden felt like he'd just graduated from the Career Academy all over again, and he almost checked his head to make sure a grad cap hadn't appeared there.
"Alright, Professor Madeline," He chuckled as she assigned his homework. It seemed to be due right now, so he started practicing right away. Eden took a deep breath and unleashed a torrent of the rudest insults he could come up with. "How dare you say those horrific things about me, you deviant cockroach! I can almost smell the vile garbage flooding out of your mouth when you speak. I need to disinfect my eardrums after just listening to you!"
After submitting his insult homework, Eden gave her a smile. "How was that? Also, you're a good teacher. I mean... you're the worst rat teacher in history! I'm leaving a one-star review and submitting a complaint to the Academy dean for that horrid lesson!"

He turned around at the sight of something white in the distance. It was a patch of flowers that could be the chamomile he'd been searching for, or it could be daisies. As he approached the flower patch, he noticed it was close to Sienna's temporary camp by the river. No one seemed to be home... was everything okay with Sienna and Jay?
As Eden knelt down by the flowers, he turned to Madeline with a worried look. "That tent over there... it's where Sienna and Jay set up camp. I don't see any movement, and it's giving me a bad feeling. Can you keep a lookout for anything suspicious? You can continue the insulting lesson if you want, I need to check if these are chamomile or daisies but I promise I'm listening."

Chaska let out a silent sigh of relief when Caspia agreed to boil the water. Not that he ever doubted that she would agree he was just glad that he didn't have to. Knowing him, he would find a way to mess up even just boiling water. It also meant he could focus more of his attention on Gloria. Speaking of Gloria he pulled his attention away from Caspia and back to Gloria as she started to protest needing rest. Thankfully she seemed to see reason and growled out an agreement to resting. Chaska had to keep the smirk of glee when she agreed off his face and instead observed her in a passive way. He was pleased when Gloria reached out and took his hand, the corners of his lips tugged upwards in a tiny smile. He gently guided her as close as he dared without making it seem like he was babying her. Any act that might make her feel weak would be a poor one. Gloria was many things but weak was not one of them. He glanced over at the sound of Caspia's voice and gave her a swift nod to show he had heard him loud and clear. Then he returned his attention back to Gloria and ushered her towards the tent. Upon getting the tent he leaned over and carefully unzipped it, being mindful of Gloria. Having a repeat of what had happened prior was not something he was so keen on. "After we rest up a bit we can go find our new enemy, show them what a district two career is really like" he hummed as he ushered Gloria inside the tent. Gently he let go of Gloria's hand and started puttering around the tent, arranging a few things until there was a spot for two people to lay down. Gesturing to the softer of the two spots he started towards the second spot before pausing and offering his hand once more to Gloria

Caspia Searobin | District 4 | Location: Camp | Tags: |
Now that Chaska and Gloria had disappeared into the tent Caspia was left alone, sat by the fire watching the water begin to form bubbles which rose to the surface before disappearing. With the first member of their alliance gone.. with Killick gone, she couldn't help but feel like the were nearing the end. Well, it would have been true anyway. She had been counting the cannons, with only 9 tributes left total and 5 Careers, there were only 4 non-Careers left for them to fight and then it would be time for their final battle. It might not all be smooth sailing though, judging from the graffiti on the tent it seemed like at least one of the non-Careers really hated them and it probably wouldn't be too long until they emerged from hiding. They'd have to be on their guard and stick together, their enemy would have no chance against 5 alert careers but picking them off one by one would be a different story, maybe being alone outside the tent wasn't such as smart move.

Felix Prestman | District 12 | Location:  | Tags: Penny, Sienna, Eden, Madeline|
Felix couldn't help but feel hungry at the mention of fish and eggs, they still hadn't really had the chance to eat anything aside from berries, making him even more glad that they were heading back to camp. "Should we be terrified of these moorhens?" he asked, after Sienna had mentioned them once again.

The, now mangled, tent was coming back into view and Felix couldn't help but feel relief until his eyes fell on two figures a little way away and he froze. "Those are Careers," he whispered to the other two. The District 1 pair didn't seem to have spotted them yet, one was crouching by a patch of white flowers. "What do we do?" They'd have to find somewhere else to go. There couldn't be that many tributes remaining now, soon the Careers would turn their eyes on them but they could at least delay that moment for as long as possible.

Sienna Mach-North| D7 |17|Tags:Penny,Felix,Eden,Madeline | loc: east

“I don’t know, I know Eden is the kinder career of the pair from one. I think we leave them be unless they approach us or attack but Eden would never. He has a good heart but even the ones with the best hearts can change but his, his hasn’t.” She whispered to the pair as she had froze on the slightly crunchy grass. “And to answer your first question, if you want everyone has their own fears. But they scared Moses and they wounded him fatally to where he begged the careers to sacrifice him. The boy from two, Chaska, was kind enough to make it easy while Eden helped me hide out for a while till I found this place. Then Eden and Chaska brought us our supplies. I’m forever in debt with them,no matter how many times they brush it off.” She whispered.

Sienna smiled seeing the taller tribute hunching over a patch of white flowers and she wanted to run and jump him to give him hugs bet she didn’t want to risk a attack. But she started walking again next to her allies as the adrenaline was receding from her body. Sienna continuously glanced over to the boy hoping to catch glances with him, or something more. “I’m going to fish, thankfully we have arrows and rope still.” She whispered as she grabbed the supplies and walked over to the river bed, scrubbing her weapons and jacket clean of the blood before she laid it out over rocks.

Then, she started tying the rope to the arrow like she would when she made rope harnesses before tying it to the bow. She was mentally exhausted but she wasn’t physically, not yet. Sienna felt like she had a chance in the games but she had to agree with Felix, the careers could turn any minute and easily wipe them out. Not Eden, hopefully. She stared at the glistening river and sighed, maybe she could climb the tree across it, it did have a nice branch overlooking it. But as she squinted her eyes looking over the bark, it was dead. But what wasn’t at this point? Sienna sighed before sitting near a rock momentarily to rebraid her hair into two separate braids, she tied it off with two cloth strands she ripped from her shirt sleeves.

Gloria made her way into the tent and st down, the moment she got off of her feet the moment all of the days dread washed away from her. With a sigh of relief the career finally let herself relax. SHe was thankful for the kindness the other careers were showing her. It was a lot different from how things were that morning. "Thank you..." Gloria murmured quietly to Chaska. "I think I'm going to try to sleep now..." Not long after she said that she curled up and fell asleep.

She couldn't have been asleep very long or deeply at all, ten minutes at the max. Gloria sat up covered in sweat, every bone in her body ached and her skin was crawling. She felt so hot, and she needed to throw up. Her surroundings were spinning. Her platinum blonde hair tied neatly into a ponytail had been darkened by sweat. "Chaska.... chaska..." She murmured, though it was hard to get the words out. Everything was blending together. ALl of a sudden a familiar howl pierced her memory. THE MUTTS! "CHASKA THE MUTTS ARE BACK!" SHe screeched, standing up and fumbling around for her knives. Breaking out of the tent the career fell to her knees, she was so exhausted. Gasping for breath she held two knives close to her chest. She would fight her way out of this!

((the mutts are totally figments of our poor girl's imagination- she's hallucinating!))

Penny froze when she saw the careers. Idiot district partners they could barely handle... but careers could surely tear them to shreds if they got the chance. "But... my blanket..." She whispered, assuming they would just turn around and run back the way they came. Penny trusted Sienna, of course she did, but a small part of her was wary. Careers were trained to win the hunger games. Though she let her shoulders relax, it would be okay, right? Instinctively Penny moved closer to Felix and took his hand.
