"Tha-an" She wasn't used to saying thank you, so when Eden finally released her after a much needed hug, that was all Gloria cold say. They suggested they tend to their wounds before adressing the abhorrent vandalizsm on their tent. Gloria wanted to say some snarky remark, but no words came out of her mouth when she opened it. Instead, she was still sweaty and now frankly getting a little dizzy. She felt OH so tired and her eyelids were drooping. She wanted nothing more than to lay down but didn't want to seem weak, so instead she took off her jacket and sat on the ground.

Penny was thankful as Sienna took over the rest of the fighting, watching as she beat Darius to the ground. Penny couldn't help but feel slightly good about that. All the evil this boy has committed and he was finally getting what he deserved, she felt really weird for just watching though, so she was glad when Felix turned to her. "Oh... thank you..." Penny said, taking the knife and squeezing it tightly. Frankly, she didn't like the way it felt in her hand, she didn't like the way it felt sinking her knife into Darius's leg, even if he WAS trying to kill her... But this was the hunger games and she couldn't just let that distract her. "I want you to be able to defend yourself though Felix..." She didn't want to say what she was going to say next. In case something happens to me... The cannon distracted her, her district partner's still body was covered in his own blood. She was kind of relieved. "Oh Sienna!" Penny rushed forward and flung her arms around the district seven tribute. She didn't care if they had just met, the girl had saved her life.

Eden Beauregard District One Career
Location: Camp
Tagged: Careers

(Apologies in advance for the length of this post!)

Gloria and Chaska's words of appreciation warmed Eden's heart. He smiled, a gentle expression to reassure them he'd always do his best to help where he could. Even the toughest of District Two warriors needed a friend hug sometimes.
As Eden returned to the backpack where he'd left the other medical supplies, he heard Caspia and Madeline agreeing to make a plan. The latter had clearly returned to her old self as familiar insults flew from her mouth, but there was something comforting about the jeers of 'rat' and 'disgrace'. The threat of an enemy, while a little anxiety-provoking, would bring the team together against their common foe.

Not only that, but it meant more time before they'd have to face innocent tributes - the most difficult part of the games. Taking down horrible murderers at the start was nothing too burdensome for the soul, and the final fight between Careers at the end was always a respectful sendoff. When they volunteered for this, they fully understood what to expect at the finale. No, the hardest part was in between, when all the villains had been eliminated and only a handful of harmless non-Careers stood between the alliance and their final battle. The moment when he'd have to look into those wide eyes full of awe and terror, and take the life of an innocent. At that point, all he could do was make it swift. If he could even raise his blade against them at all.
I've done it before, He thought back to his dear mother with a sinking feeling. I don't think I could do it again. Not to little Jay, not to those kind tributes from Districts Eight and Twelve, not to... not to Sienna, bless her soul.
He'd made up his mind. When the time came, he would engage Sienna in a duel, a challenge to the death - but not her death. Eden would ensure she won that fight fair and square. She'd strike him down, and as the life faded from his eyes, he would look up at her with one last smile and tell her "I am so proud of you." He could only pray she had the strength to do it.

Caspia's voice snapped him out of his somewhat morbid thoughts, directing his attention to their ally's lack of sleep. Chaska, who'd taken watch the entirety of the first night, hadn't rested at all in the arena.
"Eight minutes!" Eden tried to channel the voice of a scolding mother, but he sounded too gentle to seem strict. "After Caspia dresses your wounds, you absolutely need a nap. Otherwise I'll lecture you so hard that... um... I'm terrible at threats."

With a nervous chuckle, he approached Madeline to dress her wounds. Maybe listening to her could help him improve his verbal skills. Despite her inability to read or write, her vocabulary of insults was impressive.
"I think once that tribute hears your insults, they'll just surrender," Eden said as he cleaned one of the larger scratches. "Their vandalism isn't even good. Maybe, before we kill them, you should give them a lesson on how to properly insult people."
It didn't take long to patch her up - a good sign. Her spear (and trash talk) must have kept the mutts largely at bay during the fight, so she'd only sustained surface injuries. Nothing life-threatening or gruesome.

Now it was Gloria's turn. Making his way over, his eyes widened with worry at the sight of her, looking sweaty and exhausted as she rested in the dry grass. "Are you... are you okay?" He asked, sitting down beside her with the first-aid kit in hand.
Hopefully this was just hunger catching up to her - she'd tossed her fish into the fire at dinner after all. But the reminder of an earring, a tent zipper, and a bandage thrown hastily into the river suggested the cause could lie elsewhere.

“I-I Don’t Kn-.” Sienna was struggling to express her words to Felix’s question as a void of shock had ran over her face of what she had done. She had just committed one of the most heinous things in the world, murder. Sienna was a murderer now just like Darius and her parents had to be awfully ashamed of her especially of her mother who had passed in her better years. But she was soon taken out of her thoughts by the wonderful hug Penny bestowed her with, and she couldn’t help but give a big bear hug back. “No... Thank you for the hug it means a lot especially with what has been happening lately.” She said hoping her tea loving Eden was still alive and well, and that poor Garry wasn’t struggling at the moment anymore. Sienna could only worry about her allies thinking of her becoming the next imposter ridden monster. “What should we do next? Where should we go?” Her eyes widened as she glanced at her messy clothes reliving the memory of Demitra killing Colby in this very same quadrant but instead of Demitra it was from her point of view doing the deed as time in the games twister her memory cruelly... Maybe she really did have all her allies blood on her hands.

Gloria glanced up at Eden, he looked so worried. It made her sick. "Like you'd want to know." Gloria huffed, although she was smiling. She was glad that Eden was worried about her. Snarky retorts and remarks were her defense mechanism for when things got too emotional or when people got too close to her. Her lazy attempt at an insult thinly veiled how much the arrogant girl respected and cared for her district one ally. No matter how much that went against everything she had ever told herself.

Penny let herself smile, dropping away from the hug. "Oh... uh..." She stammered when Sienna asked where they'd go from here. "Are we not going back to the camp from earlier?" She didn't want to seem stupid though... "Oh! Sorry... I mean... if not it's fine... I just left my quilt back there and it was a.. um gift from my sponsor." Penny shot a glance at Felix as if to ask him to help her with her social anxiety. "Of course if you don't want to go back... it'd be fine..." Her voice trailed off. Besides Felix, the quilt was the most important thing in the games right now. She definitely wouldn't be fine if they left it.

Caspia Searobin | District 4 | Location: Camp | Tags: Careers |
"8 minutes!" Caspia exclaimed, sounding horrified. Now this was a distraction, especially helpful as Chaska began carefully cleaning her wounds. "If my Dad was here..." She "He's always telling me how the the well-rested fisherman will catch double the fish and never get knocked into the water." He would always complain if she tried to stay up too late with training, telling her that if the fish were sleeping she would have to as well. She looked amused at Eden's failed attempt to make a threat. "I'm not quite so terrible at threats. Unless you get some sleep I'll refuse to carry out a final battle with you, and I promise that'll disappoint both of us." With Eden heading off to check up on Gloria, who was now sitting on the floor, and Chaska finished with the scratch on her back she turned to face him. "Your turn," She told him, beginning to wrap up his injuries the best she could.

Felix Prestman | District 12 | Location:  | Tags: Penny, Sienna.|
The moment Sienna began responding to his question, Felix noticed that she was reeling from what she'd just done. "It's okay. It doesn't really matter anyway." He spoke softly as Penny rushed in to hug the girl. As they hugged he carefully retrieved Penny's knife from Darius' leg, wiping it on the grass. As Penny had said, it would still be better if they both had something to defend themselves, and he at least wasn't squeamish. Once the two had broken away Sienna asked them what the plan should be next. Penny broke out into stammers about the quilt and the moment she glanced helplessly at him he nodded. "We should definitely head back for a bit. Only Darius knew where the camp was, right? So it should be safe to head back. No point in wasting what was left."

Sienna nodded softly,“I believe so... Let’s go get your quilt Penny, we all deserve a big rest after that.” She replied as her allies had brought her out of her subconscious. “Plus this quadrant is a horrible place to be at night from moorhens to mutts to heaven knows what is out there anymore.” Sienna said gripping her axe nervously once again. She had been so used to fleeing maybe it would be nice to actually anchor down for a bit in a quadrant, so she followed the two slowly as she glanced back at the body before meeting their pace. “What quadrant has been the best quadrant in your opinions?” The girl from seven asked curiously at the two before glancing up at the sky momentarily and back to her kind allies.

Eden Beauregard District One Career
Location: Camp
Tagged: Gloria, other Careers
Eden tilted his head, blinking in curiosity at the sassy comment. The words were exactly what he expected to hear from Gloria, full of attitude, but everything else about the delivery suggested otherwise. That smile on her face definitely gave her away.
"Fine, don't tell me then." Eden returned the smile, showing the passive-aggressiveness was just for fun. After unpacking the rest of the medical supplies, he started to clean and bandage her wounds just as he'd done with his district partner. The work was swift and routine - he was becoming used to it, which was a good sign. It suggested most of his allies had survived long enough to have their injuries treated. Most of them. If only Killick was among them, too, sitting quietly by the river as he waited his turn to be patched up.
Eden reminded himself it wouldn't help to think that way. Right now, all they could do was recover their strength so a similar incident didn't happen in the near future. After he finished dressing Gloria's wounds, he used one last wipe to gently clean her sweat-beaded forehead. It felt warm to the touch. Hopefully it was just because Eden's hands were cold, and not a sign of something worse.

"District Two better get some rest." As Eden rose to his feet, he used his best scolding mum voice on Gloria - and Chaska too. He gave a sideways grateful glance to Caspia, whose threats were way scarier than his own. "That includes your district partner. So many District Two tributes tortured themselves with exhaustion and it never ended well! I refuse to let my friends become a statistic."
Back at the Career Academy, he'd written an essay about mental health in the Hunger Games - an area District Two seemed to struggle with in the past. Even the strongest district had its vulnerable spots. Sleep deprivation, overwhelming guilt, the loss of cherished allies, these things were as deadly as an enemy's blade held against the throat.
A thought came to him. "Oh! I know what will help you relax - chamomile tea. I used to make it for my mum." His smile faltered for a bit, but for the first time he was able to mention his mother out loud. Maybe it was the knowledge that he was among family once more that gave him strength. "Could someone boil water while I look for chamomile flowers? Oh, and it would be helpful if someone came with me - we all know the stories about Careers who wander off alone."

Madeline Gomez//District 1//Female//A brat//Tagged; The Careers

Ewww gross. Madeline couldn’t help but feel disgusted when she glanced over at Gloria. That girl looked horrible, she was all gross and sweaty!! Ew! Now she was REALLY regretting hugging that rat. She probably smells gross too, now that she’s all sweaty! Yet she also felt something else. She wasn’t sure what it was but it wasn’t probably stupid so she ignored that feeling! She learned from all those dumb symptoms, anything she felt was probably just something stupid and nothing important. It’s not like she was worried about Gloria or anything! She only felt angry and disgusted when she looked at Gloria, so clearly she isn’t experiencing any other human emotion!

Her attention finally shifted from Gloria and the weird feeling to Eden. Gosh, that idiot! His flimsy attempt at threatening the others was so bad that it completely distracted her from Gloria, the feeling and even the fact that he was patching up her wounds! His “scolding” voice and “threats” made her cringe so much. Eden’s attempt was an insult to threats! She didn’t want him to try to make anymore until he got some practice. They were so bad it almost physically hurt her! It felt painful to just listen to him try his best and fail. He definitely needed to learn the basics and who better to teach him then the queen of insults herself? Eden would never be as great as her, everyone knew that, but he could definitely improve. He needed to improve. Madeline was not going to endure anymore of these horrid threats, she would rather DIE!

“Of course they will. That disgraceful rat will be begging for forgiveness! They can't insult even if their life depended on it! I’ll show them! They’ll learn how to actually insult someone, not vandalize their property like a coward! Hopefully they’ll put good use to my lessons when they’re dead.” She stated as Eden cleaned her wounds, her tone was as painfully insulting and rude as always. If that coward could hear her they’d drop dead from how insulting she was! They might as well just die right now! They would never survive being insulted by her. She bet that the rat would just fall over and die if she gave them the smallest insult!

When he was done she muttered a quick thank you and watched him walk off towards Gloria. That strange and unknown feeling had returned, this time stronger, as soon as Gloria spoke. Was Madeline angry at her rude response to Eden’s worry? Or maybe she felt the same way Eden felt. Maybe she was worried, maybe that was the word to describe this feeling. Worry. Or maybe that’s stupid and dumb and she totally isn’t feeling worried for that annoying and ungrateful rat! Ugh! As if! She would never worry about her! THATS GROSS!!!

“I’ll go with you. I can teach you some insults as you look and NO you cannot refuse these lessons! I will literally DIE if you even dare think of those pathetic words you call threats! Even fish girl over there can make a better threat than you!” She exclaimed with a bit of a comedic and exaggerated tone, immediately choosing to tag along with Eden. Not only would it be a great opportunity for her to teach Eden how to not suck at insults and threats, but it would also distract her from dumb Gloria and that stupid feeling she can’t name yet. All she knows is that it definitely isn’t worry! She definitely isn’t worried! No one but Eden would worry about such an infuriating rat!

“But seriously, I don’t want to hear anymore of your horrendous ‘threats’. They were so bad that it almost felt like I was being punched in the gut.”

Eden Beauregard District One Career
Location: Camp --> Plains
Tagged: Careers --> Madeline
Madeline appeared to be conflicted again, most likely over a new onslaught of confusing emotions. It seemed she'd experienced more diverse emotions in the past hour than she had in eighteen years. Eden wished he could help, it was bound to be disorienting for his poor friend, but he knew she needed to work through these feelings on her own in order to understand them. Plus, it wasn't like her ego would disappear overnight. Her pride would definitely take a hit if Eden, the crybaby, tried to baby her now.
He smiled as Madeline offered to join him on the search for chamomile flowers. Of course, she also wanted to teach him about the fine arts of insult-crafting. As Madeline continued to broadcast exactly how bad Eden's threats were, he found himself unable to hold back laughter. It started as quiet chuckles and ended up with him doubled over on his knees, laughing so hard he found himself crying. Once he'd calmed down, he rose to his feet and dried his tears, feeling lighter.
"Thank you, Madeline. I think I needed that." He wasn't referring to the insult lessons. "Let's go... and when we come back, Chaska and Gloria better be resting or they'll face my new and improved lecture skills." Eden directed what was supposed to be a stern look at the District Two tributes, although the look in his eyes was soft and concerned. "Caspia, if you could boil some water that would be great. It's okay if you don't have time, though. I can do it once Madeline and I come back," He told her with a gentle smile.

Eden led the way out of camp, determination renewed as he scanned the landscape for signs of more diverse vegetation. Tall grass rustled as he moved, but he wasn't too concerned about being stealthy. If a tribute heard him coming and ran away, even better - he wasn't in the mood to start unnecessary fights. Taking care of his injured, exhausted allies was the only thing on his mind right now.
Well... there was one other thing.
"I suppose it's about time I had a crash course on insults," Eden sighed dramatically, but he couldn't hide his smile. "Where do we start?"

Amusement flickered across Chaska's face at Eden's attempt at a threat. It wasn't even close to the worse threats he had ever been faced with and he hadn't backed down from them. Before he could add anything Caspia's voice joined the mix with a horrified echoing of his previous statement. She followed up with a threat that had Chaska's eyes widening ever so slightly. It was definitely motivation to at least attempt to sleep. Not having a final battle would be horrible and he would do anything to avoid that. As she turned to him he shrugged off his own jacket, still shocked into silence over her threat. He slid the first aid kit over to her before stilling to allow her to start wrapping up his injuries. While she worked on his chest wounds he peered at his side, pleased to find that his wound hadn't opened back up again. With how much he had been moving around he wouldn't have been too surprised to find that he had reopened his stab wound. His thighs stung but they were hardly his priority right now. His attention was drawn away from his wounds when he heard Eden speak up, something about his district resting. With that he allowed his gaze to flicker over to Gloria. Worry caused his brows to furrow at the sight of his district partner. She wasn't looking to good, before he could saying anything Eden was bringing up tea. He didn't dare offer to help, his only job right now was resting apparently so he peered between Madeline and Caspia, figuring out which of the two would volunteer. Madeline seemed to rise to the challenge and Eden quickly offered the job of boiling water to Caspia. Clearly he really did have to be sleeping. He watched the two leave before returning his gaze back to Caspia. "If you are okay with boiling the water then I will try and get some rest" he said softly. As soon as he was sure his wounds were bandaged he pushed himself to his feet and made his way over to Gloria. "Lets get some rest" he murmured reaching out to offer his hand to his district partner.
