Caspia Searobin | District 4 | Location: East Camp | Tags: Eden, Chaska, Killick, Gloria, Madeline | These Are Not Peace Offerings, I Just Don't Want You to Starve and Start Complaining Gloria reacted almost instantaneously to Chaska receiving the gift instead of her. She seemed in denial, insisting that it was simply a mistake that she didn't have one too. It seemed that her allies weren't the only ones not appreciating her behaviour, her rudeness clearly didn't sit well with the District 2 mentor either. No-one else commented on her whining, nothing they said seemed to make any difference, so Caspia too stayed silent though she truly didn't understand why Gloria had not got the message yet. Chaska and Eden had both finished cooking their fish so Caspia nabbed the two 'roasting spit' swords and speared fish on them. As little as she liked Gloria and Madeline, who had been suspiciously quiet these past few hours, she hardly expected them to know how to cook their own fish. Besides, Caspia wanted to prove them wrong about her district by providing with the best of District 4 career cuisine.
"Eat these." She told them both bluntly, handing out the two fish. With the two girls dealt with she could worry about the people she actually cared about. She handed one of the swords with a new fish on it to Killick and the other one she kept for herself. While Chaska and Eden had each cooked a fish for the other, she and Killick had spent many an evening at Career Camp with all the other trainee careers side-by-side grilling their fish to perfection. Each individual had their preference, Kari had always made fun of her for liking her fish more on the blackened side, so it would feel comfortingly like home for them both to cook their own. Once her fish was just charred enough she began to eat, savouring the taste of home and at the same time properly admiring Chaska's gauntlets which he'd extended towards them.
"I've never really seen anything like it." The armour they had back home to lessen their bruises when they were training was made of woven fibres rather than metal, and even in the small museum they had memorialising the Dark Days had no steel armour. She had no doubt that Chaska's arms were going to be safe.
When he suggested offering the remaining two fishes to Sienna and Jay, Caspia nodded.
"That's a good idea. No point in trying to split up those fish, those two probably need them more than we do." ———
Felix Prestman | District 12 | Location: Western Valley | Tags: Penny | When Will The Valley End?Penny suggested that Reika's killer was not a tribute but that reassured Felix little. If she’d been a killed by a mutt or a trap or any trick of the gamemakers, well.. that simply meant the Capitol had no qualms targeting the youngest of their child sacrifices. After he spoke of Reyna she seemed to have lost all words and simply pulled him into a hug. Nothing could bring comfort like a good hug and Felix returned it gladly. They stood like that for a while until Penny broke the silence, suggesting they start hunting for a place to rest. It was definitely a good idea. Felix's eyes and legs were beginning to feel heavy and he was beginning to feel hungry, it was a shame they had nothing but strawberries to feast on before sleeping.
"You're right. There must be somewhere coming up where we can at least get out of the water. I'm sure tomorrow we'll find some way out of this ravine." They had been sloshing up the stream for long enough now that it was beginning to get wider and wider, which Felix could only assume meant that they were either nearing the arena's edge or the centre with it's lake.
