Caspia Searobin | District 4 | Location: Heading Back to East Camp | Tags: Chaska, Gloria |
Caspia smiled awkwardly at Chaska when he moved to give her a reassuring pat on arm before realising his hand was covered in blood. Really she was touched by the gesture. The fact that this stoic career had a dagger in him but was concerned about how Caspia was feeling really showed something about his character.
She listened carefully to both District 2 tributes responses to her question. So, stabbings during training were not frowned upon in District Two then. That sounded questionable but Caspia supposed it would certainly be helpful in learning to survive the Hunger Games.
She raised her eyebrows as Gloria suggested that fights without stabbings were boring. “You cant have been fighting the right people.” she responded in disagreement, with a shrug of her shoulders. Fighting had been what she loved back home, and that was all without a single stabbing. There was nothing a fun as a fight against friends, making jokes with gasping breaths between swings. Perhaps Two was just too serious about fighting to enjoy it like that.
Chaska seemed as unfamiliar with mock fights that didn’t allow stabbing as Caspia was with those that did. She smiled fondly, remembering all the many many sparring matches she had back home. “We had a few different types.” she explained, “We had fights unarmed or with blunt weapons until one person was too sore or tired to keep going. We had blunt weapon fights with a referee who would work out what injuries would be and so who would win. Or we did have fights with real weapons to first blood but stabbing or any other sort of severe maiming was strictly off limits.”
As they walked Caspia was relieved to see Chaska was at least pressing his hand to the wound. His apathy towards being stabbed was at least not going to result in him bleeding to death.
“There weren’t tons of us Career kids back home and we had lots to do apart from Career training, I guess it would have been a bad idea to risk of bad injuries even if any of us had wanted to stab each other.” That was one possible explanation for the difference in training regimes, though Caspia still wasn’t fully sure how everything worked in Two.

Felix Prestman | District 12 | Location: Western Valley | Tags: Penny | Pretty Much Lost
Felix hadn’t been the only one sliding down the sheer valley walls and walking along the stream was a plan as good as any. They didn’t have a coin to toss, but Felix was happy to go along with Penny’s decision. “Right we’ll go then.” He was starting to feel a little more chipper again, putting that recurring realisation far back in his mind. “I’m sure we’ll find something useful eventually.”

this may or may not be 345 words of Gloria complaining...

GᒪOᖇIᗩ ᒪᗩᑕE
|female|2|career|tags: anyone around to hear her complaining|

Gloria quickly lost interest in the conversation as soon as Caspia started talking. "Maybe you aren't fighting the right people." She huffed, it was the closest thing to a challenge, but Gloria knew no violence would come of it. Especially with Chaska right there. She didn't want to hear fish girl keep droning on about her district so she sped up and walked far ahead of the other two. Normally, it wouldn't have been smart to be in the front, as Caspia could easily stab her in the back. Chaska said he'd have my back. Time to prove it. Gloria thought as she stomped back to camp. Her ear itched like crazy, and the career spent a lot of her time scratching at it before she finally returned to camp. A loud, obnoxious scoff signaled her return as the horrid smell of dead fish entered her nose. "No. No. No. No. No. Someone make it NOT smell like fish here!" Gloria shouted, before finding the partially gutted fish on the ground. "EW WHY DID NO ONE CLEAN THIS UP?" Although she said "no one" she really meant Madeline, as she was the only one who hadn't gone after Reyna and Sharnaz with them. Giving the district one girl the stink eye she turned around to see Eden comforting the district seven girl. Gloria scoffed. She wasn't sure if the pair could hear her scoff, but she didn't really care if they noticed anyways. Next she spotted a... small... child... Children were gross. Children didn't care about fashion or even wash themselves half of the time, and they always seemed to think that they were sooooo special! Well Gloria wasn't going to tolerate it. Who was this kid anyways? Somehow, she remembered somewhat of her allie's useless conversation to know that this... child... was either called Reika or Jay. She wasn't sure which. Not that she cared. Was Reika the one who died or was it Jay? The only way to find out would be to ask the thing but she didn't want to approach it.

Penny nodded, she was excited but couldn't shake the nerves. Felix was right though, they had to come across something eventually. His obvious good mood seemed to put her in a good mood, and suddenly Penny remembered a game her parents used to play with her when they were bored. "Do you want to play a game?" She asked Felix, knowing it was kind of stupid to be playing games in the hunger games, but it would help take her mind off of... dying. "Do you know 'I Spy'?"

    .
Chaska tilted his head slightly at Caspia's words, not all the fights he had been in ended with stabbings, but most of those had been unofficial fights. None of the training that he had been previously talking about. Many of the fights had picked with other people had been fist fights but they weren't any fights that he would bring up. His father had often said that picking fights like that was disgraceful so he assumed that the others would have similar thoughts. He hardly noticed when Gloria rushed ahead since he was too focused on listening to Caspia speak about the fights that they had in District Four. It was a nice distraction from the pain that was thrumming through his side, in beat to his heart beat. It made sense if he was being honest, of course they wouldn't want to have such deadly sparing matches. There had to be kids left behind in good enough shape to work. There wasn't much in that sense at District Two, with the focus on being peacekeepers being so strong it was expected to be ready for anything. "The academy is the Peacekeepers Academy, while the after school program is for anyone who wants to be a career. Our district takes training and fighting very seriously" he said carefully. He didn't want to make it seem like he thought his district was better. Each district had its pros and cons, it seemed that of the Career districts that District Four was one of the more laid back. Not in the lazy sense but in the more easy going way. Glancing up as they walked into camp he took count of who was there. It seemed that Moses wasn't doing well, Jay was by a new tent and Eden was with Sienna. Who had the first aid kit. He nodded towards the pair to let Caspia know that he was heading over there. He was fairly sure she would know why he was headed there first. The injury wasn't about to heal itself. Making his way over he paused a respectful distance from the pair. "I apologize for interrupting but I could use a hand with... this" he said while indicating the dagger after a small pause.

Eden Beauregard of District One
Location: Careers' camp
Tagged: Careers & friends
Eden's eyes widened in surprise as Sienna's gentle hands took his own, a gesture that brought warmth to his cheeks. Since the beginning, she had a certain quality that drew him closer. Perhaps it was her kind soul or strong spirit that shone like a beacon.
"I should be thanking you, Sienna," He murmured, a warm smile on his face. "Saying goodbye must be hard. He's your friend, and I know it hurts to see him like this. But I'm here for you, alright? If you ever need something, or just to talk or hug..."

That's when a scoff interrupted their moment. Eden took a deep breath, choosing to ignore the ridiculous rants. Gloria was still his ally despite her attitude at times. He did, however, look over his three returning allies for injuries. Gloria was fine, Caspia was fine, but...
"Oh no. Oh no, Chaska, I'm so sorry." Eden's eyes already glistened with tears as he saw the horrific wound in Chaska's side. At once, his mind jumped to the worst case scenario as dying screams from Careers long ago flashed in his memory. He rushed over and wrapped his arms around Chaska. Tears streamed down his face - he wasn't ready to lose his ally, his friend, his older brother.
Wait. Chaska didn't seem to be bothered by this wound at all. Sensing his friend's calm demeanor, relief washed over the crybaby from District One and he stopped sobbing. He wouldn't be losing Chaska anytime soon.

"Sienna, can you help him?" Eden looked at her with pleading eyes, holding out the first aid kit. She'd proven herself the quickest and most efficient first aider here. If Eden needed to provide proof (such as to a mad Madeline), he'd just show his expertly bandaged back.
"She did an amazing job on my cut. You'll be all fixed up in no time, and then you can take down anyone." He then realized he was still clinging to his friend. Eden was such a baby! Awkwardly detaching himself, he took a few steps back so Sienna could work.

Sienna Mach-North|D7|17|Tags:Jay,Eden, Chaska|loc:career camp
She smiled softly at him feeling a small warmth spreading to her own face before sighing at the thought,“Thank you I will definitely take you up on the offer, it’s going to be the hardest goodbye I know of...” Sienna said thoughtfully before rolling her eyes at the rants, it seemed like the only career girl who didn’t complain was Caspia! Then that’s when the moment was interrupted not by Chaska but by rants she turned to look at the figure who was speaking,it was Chaska the one she decided to mess with a little during training. She still felt bad about that but her eyes widened a little when Eden volunteered her and then let go of his hands.

“Don’t apologize you have nothing to be sorry for. And sure I just want to say sorry for messing with you like that in training,Chaska It was a bit rude of me and it proved nothing to my allies.” She said while putting pressure on the dagger wound and continuing her apology of dropping scythes like that before she swiftly removed the dagger. Sienna dropped it by her foot while keeping a hand pressed on the wound before continuing talking as a distraction. Before she dug in the kit to find the wipes and started ripping the paper tops off and shimmieing the wipes out as she had tugged his shirt up just to the wound.“This might sting a little.” Sienna stated before swiftly wiping the wound down and keeping the wipes on it and applying more pressure. The brunette quickly grabbed bandages alongside gauze with her other hand. She swiftly dropped the wipes next to her before sticking clean gauze on the wound and swiftly placing bandages over as extra padding.

Sienna just wiped the blood frankly on her pants she would head down to the river later and wash up but right now she was just emotionally exhausted to deal with it. At least bandaging careers was a formidable distraction for now. She put the unused supplies back with her clean hand before she used one last wipe to sterilize the dagger. Sienna had managed to get it back to its once pristine nature before handing it to Chaska,“Here you go.” She said kindly before picking up the trash and tucking it back into the packets and placing it into a bigger trash packets. Sienna handed the first aid kit to Chaska so he could do his legs on his own. “I think I’m going to go check on Moses he’s getting worse and I don’t know how long it will take for him to pull out of thi-.” Her words were cut off when she noticed her district partner storming there way muttering soft pleas to be killed.

Killick solemnly followed the group back to the Careers' camp, staying in the back. Once they arrived, he stood off to the side; he didn't want to be the way while everyone was doing their thing. He was also overwhelmed by the amount of people in their camp, especially since they weren't a part of the alliance. While Eden had a big heart and was always willing to give to and provide for others, Killick was hesitant. He didn't trust anyone who wasn't a Career, even if they seemed nice.
Looking down, Killick caught his reflection in the blade of his cutlass and frowned. He really wanted to go home now. Sure, it was a great honor to be here, but being back in District Four seemed really nice right now. He thought about the rolling waves, the nightly bonfires on the beach, the faint melody of a ukulele, the feeling of climbing foam on his favorite shortboard...

If I'm lucky, I'll be back soon. But for now... I'm stuck here.

Eden Beauregard of District One
Location: Careers' camp
Tagged: Chaska, Sienna, Moses
Despite his worry, Eden managed a smile as Sienna bandaged up their wounded friend, working just as swift and efficient as the first time he'd seen her in action. His shoulders slumped with relief when the wound disappeared behind layers of clean gauze. Now that the blood was gone, Eden's eyes widened at the sight of horrific scars criscrossing his friend's torso. What kind of awful things happened in District Two training? Not wanting to be rude, he decided to keep silent about it, at least for now when others were present.
His friend would be okay. Eden trusted Sienna's handiwork - and Chaska's strength. He was tough even for a District Two tribute. Now that Eden had calmed down, he knew his friend would pull through with the amount of determination that coursed through his veins.
Eden gave Sienna a warm, grateful smile, then turned to Chaska and put a gentle hand on his arm. "I hope you're feeling better. About the cuts on your legs, are you going to-"

His eyes widened in horror at the sight of Moses approaching. The District Seven boy looked worse than ever, despondent and barely aware of his surroundings for all Eden could tell, and the words he uttered sent a stab of sympathy through the Career's heart.
"Oh dear. Are you okay? Do you need water, food, a hug? Or..." Eden's voice trailed off as he regarded Moses with a look of concern. Sometimes tributes asked to be killed but they didn't mean it, they just needed care or comfort in some other way. But if the poor soul was serious about it then refusing his request would be cruel. This was the Hunger Games, most tributes were likely to meet their end by much worse means than the swift edge of a Career's blade.
Eden reached for Sienna's hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. Perhaps they'd need to take that walk sooner than expected.

i'm so sorry about gloria...

|female|2|career|tags: always making situations worse *sigh*|

Gloria let out a bloodcurdling shriek as she saw a monster. It had bright red hair and a puffy greenish yellow face and was quietly grumbling under its breath as it prowled towards Eden, Chaska, and Sienna. "WHAT IS THAT? ITS SO... SO... UGLY! WHAT KIND OF RIDICULOUS CAPITOL MUTATION-" Clearly she needs to shut up. Of course, she never actually does. "DISGUSTING! GET IT OUT OF HERE!" There was a little part of Gloria who knew that this "monster" was a person, however there was just something that didn't make her put it together.

Icarus Matthias of District Two
Icarus remained silent, one eye on the television as he sorted through various files of Peacekeeper Academy graduates. Some of these were tributes he'd had the honor of mentoring: Alby Amaya, Eric Breene, the twins Altaira and Reinhold Scovgaard. The latter had been particularly close to Icarus' heart. Just like he felt towards Chaska now, he'd viewed Reinhold as a son - and Altaira as a daughter by proxy.
He nodded in quiet pride as Chaska fought the district-disgracing murderer from District Five. The blade-damned fool wounded him, but Chaska took it calmly as a true Career would. That's my boy, Icarus thought, but then rage consumed him at the scars he saw. It just confirmed what he already suspected about the kid's home life. Soon, someone was going to die by an angry mentor's hands.

Later, Icarus was jotting down notes about the revenge murder he planned to commit when a scream interrupted him. Scowling, he looked up at the screen, only to stare in complete disbelief as his own tribute screamed vile insults at a dying District Seven kid.
"Of all the inhumane, graceless-" Icarus's jaw dropped in horror. Had Gloria slept through all her Peacekeeper Academy classes? She'd clearly missed the message about treating others with respect and dignity. On the off chance this young lady won, Icarus would have some choice words for her. Honor was everything to him and this, this awful treatment of an injured tribute, this was a stain on everyone's honor.

Madeline Gomez//District 1//Female//A brat//Tagged; Careers

If she were able to talk, she’d be cursing out Eden right now. Instead, she just rolled her eyes at the mention of these “guests”. Stupid Eden and his stupid kindness. Madeline wouldn’t be surprised if these “guests” turned against them. Eden wouldn’t even see it coming, that idiot is too stupid.

She didn’t have much to do, other than watch the others wander around camp. One of those guests seemed to be in horrible shape. He would die soon enough. Good. It meant one less person to deal with. She wouldn’t even have to get her hands dirty.

Jay Fernandez//District 11//Male//Tagged; Sienna and Moses, Careers

Jay nodded, quietly agreeing to set up the tent. He glanced back at Moses, absolutely terrified of the glare that had found its way onto his face. He looked away, quickly setting up their tent. Would Moses be sleeping in the tent too? He hoped not. Suddenly, he felt really bad that he actually didn’t want Moses to sleep in the tent. Moses should be able to sleep in the tent, he’s Jay’s ally, but he scared him. Jay was worried something would happen to him in his sleep. He was scared Moses would do something while they slept.

He tried to shake these thoughts away, he shouldn’t be thinking about this, he shouldn’t be worrying so much. He had already been messed up by Reika’s death, he shouldn’t be messing himself up even more by thinking that his own ally would hurt him.

He had finished up their tent when one of the Careers had turned their attention to him. Eden. He appreciated the hug offer but, again, he was horrified. Careers were scary, they were bloodthirsty and murderous. Having one ask if he wanted a hug was practically his worst nightmare.

“Uh.. Uh.. Yeah. I’m okay. I- I don’t...” He didn’t know what to say, stuttering like the idiot he was. He would really like a hug right now, but he didn’t fully trust Eden. He seemed really nice but Eden was a Career. He was stuck. He wanted a hug but he was too scared of Eden.

Eventually, he managed to lie to Eden, telling him he didn’t want one. “I. I don’t… I don’t want a hug right now.. Thank. Thank you though..” He felt like he was going to cry again. He could feel himself tear up and start to shake. He was worried that Eden would see through his thin veil of lies. That he would call his bluff and call him out as a coward.

He couldn’t have been more grateful for Sienna. He quickly rubbed his eyes and tried to stand as still as possible, he didn’t want her to worry about him.

“Oh! Um….Thank you, Sien..Sienna! I’m okay though. I’m not. Not hungry.” He REALLY wished he could stop stuttering. Just for a minute. The stuttering would give him away and he didn’t want Sienna to worry. She already had so much to worry about.

He watched quietly as she began to take care of the Career’s wounds. She was so nice, she was intelligent and she was of actual importance. She could take care of those in need. What could Jay do other than cry and scream? He was practically useless and Sienna’s good deeds constantly reminded him of it.

Jay didn’t think he could be more scared of something that wasn’t a Career. Unfortunately, he was proven wrong when he saw Moses stumbling towards them. He looked horrible, what was wrong with him? Was he okay? Jay, once again, began to feel bad for being scared of him. He looked like he was in so much pain.

“Moses….Sienna what’s wrong with Moses?”
