➵ Reyna Byrne of District Twelve

Always one to wear her heart on her sleeve, Reyna made no effort to hide her excitement. Her expression lit up like some annoying child who'd finally managed to pester a parent to buy them treats. Just as she expected, her ally was a genius.
"Wow, you read my mind about the waterfall cave thing!" Reyna tipped her head back and laughed in that obnoxious way of hers. In her mind, there was no point in hiding anything about herself or how she felt. "You know, Sharnaz, I feel like you really 'get' me."
She didn't bother to clarify, of course her ally knew what she meant. Sharnaz was the only person who understood Reyna.
With a big smile, the girl from District Twelve drew her sword and approached the waterfall. Reyna had an idea for once. She was adamant to avoid touching water as much as possible, so instead she jabbed her sword through the falls. It didn't hit anything on the other side. Emboldened by her discovery, Reyna prepared to take off in a reckless sprint - but hesitated.
"Right, other entrances. We don't want to jump through freezing water and straight into the jaws of bear mutts." Reyna wrinkled her nose in disgust. Bear mutts were fine, she could take them. It was the icy water she worried about most.
She looked around the cliff, hoping to find some obvious tunnel or hole. "Dangit. What kind of thing should I be looking for?"

At Gloria's scoff and Killick's chuckle, Eden assumed they were both reacting to his awkward hug. He smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. As for Madeline, she'd stalked off with a huffy attitude, pursued by an equally angry Gloria. Eden was used to their rivalry by now. Some healthy competition was good, as long as they didn't resort to hurting each other for real.
Chaska insisted carrying him wasn't a hassle, a reassurance that brought a smile to Eden's face. His ally cared and wanted to prevent him from getting hurt. "Okay!" He responded with a warm smile. "Thank you for thinking of me."
Eden already trusted Chaska, but his actions in the bloodbath had solidified that faith. He'd saved two children and his own ally now. A fearless warrior, a loyal teammate, Chaska was the definition of trustworthy. When he extended his arms in an offer, Eden climbed in and made himself comfortable. He felt so safe, as if resting in the arms of an older brother. But he'd never say that aloud.
Out of the corner of his eye, Eden noticed the two children disappearing into the distance. They'd headed towards the eastern plains too. He hadn't considered it earlier, but now it dawned on him - this was the safest option for those kids. Eden had no intentions of hunting children, he wanted to pursue more dangerous tributes who'd put up a vicious fight.
Speaking of the kids... "I forgot to say this, but thank you for saving those children." Eden kept his voice hushed out of respect for Chaska's privacy. "If Rieka died so soon after I let her go - or if she lost her best friend - I would never be able to forgive myself. But you gave them both another chance. You're a good man, Chaska. Thank you."
