indentationBenji sighed. "I get it. Even with injuries and fighting in an actual fire..I don't think sleep is ever going to be the same again." He spoke softly. Then he lightly laughed. "You know, when you came up to me during training about an alliance I was about to turn you down flat. Back home..." He stopped for a moment, trying to find the right word and then continued. "Back home, I hated you family. I hated what you had. I envied you so much it hurt. I wanted your life. You didn't even know me before we got picked. You had no idea I exsisted." He confessed a blush creeping on his cheeks out of embarrassment. "The reason I call you princess is a jab at you about your life back home." He admitted looking at the girl. "I hope this hasn't changed your view of me. I definitely have different views about you now. I'm growing..fond of you." Benji spoke carefully. He didn't know how he actually felt. There was something nagging at him in the back of his brain. You like her. You like her, you idiot!" It screamed but he ignored it. Its only been a day but some much has happened in one day.

Cassia snickered at the new nickname. "You guess right." She smirked, digging through the supplies until she found a sleeping bag. It would help her stay warm in case the temperature dropped. Making sure she was mostly protected, Cassia climbed into her sleeping bag, making sure that both her double-sided axe and knives were within reach. I'm still not entirely convinced Daniel won't kill me in my sleep... The girl from district 2 thought as she drifted off.

Juniper nodded along, but was surprised when she heard Benji laugh. She studied his face, although it was hard to make out in the dark. Why would he be talking about home right now? It actually came to a shock to Juniper when Benji said he hated her family, it never occurred to her that she was more privileged than the other kids in 7. Juniper felt a blush creeping up in her cheeks as he said he was fond of her. "I..I wish I had been more aware back at home then..." she murmured, trying not to be too loud and waking up Melanie. "I knew my family employed the loggers but I never thought I had anymore then the-you." Juniper glanced up and met Benji's eyes. "I wish I knew... and I wish.. I wish I knew you sooner. Before.. all of this."

indentationBenji smiled at Juniper. "You know prin...Juniper. I do too. I wish you would have been able to change my mind back home. Maybe I wouldn't have hated it there so much..I've been working the lumber yards since I was 16..Maybe it was 15? I don't really remember. My dad would bring me to work when I was younger because no one else could watch me. I guess I grew up working them technically but wasn't getting paid until I was older. My two older brothers were already working there. Its the only way for my family to survive to be completely honest." Benji spoke letting it all out. "I-I guess I just wanted you know what life was like outisde of you wooden palace.." He admitted now looking at the ground. "Hey on the brightside, if we do make it back somehow, I won't have to work the lumber yards ever again." He smiled at the thought. No more coming home covered in sawdust and sap.

Juniper heard a laugh escape her lips when Benji almost called her princess. Although as she listened to her story she realized there was so much about her home that she didn't know about. Her mother would take her to the woods a lot, and she would spend quite a deal of time there as a kid. However she was never allowed to go into the parts of the forest where they were logging. Whenever Juniper asked her mother she said it was unsafe, however now she wondered if she didn't want to see what everyone else had to go through. If we make it back? How hopeful, so hopeful it was almost foolish. "Yeah... a bright side." Juniper said, although she didn't really believe it. "I.. I really hope you win Benji." Juniper said, looking him in the eyes. "I really do."

"I wish there was a way I could save us all..All of us win..We all go home..Melanie gets to live in a big house in Victors' Village with her family and never wants for nothing ever. We get houses next to each other so I can bother you all the time." He chuckles. "Its dumb but its what keeps me going Jun..It keeps me fighting. Pretending we can all go home. Have the lives we've dreamt of. Guess you can say I have my head in the clouds.." He shrugged. "If it came down to it. I-I could't do it." He started tearing up. "If we three were the last standing..I have nothing to go home to. You..Melanie. You guys do." He sniffed stray tears falling. "Juniper if it comes down to it. Kill me. Find a way for you and Melanie to win together. If we make it that far then I've done my job." Benji now looked at the girl, tears falling. "Please, promise me."

Juniper let herself live in that scenario for a moment. She smiled as she thought of Benji coming next door to visit her, maybe he gives her a kiss? Juniper couldn't think about the could haves for much longer, it would be too painful as there was no way for it to come true. Juniper felt the familiar feeling of warm, salty tears inching down her face. "Benji I- I... I can't promise you that." Juniper wished she could reach out to him and comfort him, but to do that would be to risk waking Melanie up. "I'm sorry but I couldn't kill you." she breathed. "No matter if we're the last three I wouldn't be able to." The emotion weighing down on her was so hard, Juniper would give anything to not be in this situation. She would give anything to be back at home, where she wouldn't have a boy sobbing before her pleading for her to kill him if it came down to it. "I can't." Juniper said one final time, her voice barely a whisper, although the sound of her crying sounded louder in the quiet of night.

indentationBenji listened to the Juniper's cried. His own tears started coming down heavier. "I-I wish I could hold you.." He whispered, feeling a little anxious. He wanted to comfort the girl. He hated hearing her cries, it broke his heart. He looked down and Melanie sleeping like a rock. "I'm s-sorry...I have one k-kill on my hands already..I couldn't do that to you two..I couldn't live with myself if I did...Lets make a pact. It comes down to it okay? Life or death. We'll eat the green fruit. If it comes down to all three of us having to kill eachother, we just say screw it. We let Melanie win. How's that sound, huh?" He asked as he reached over Melanie's body and wiped Juniper's tears away with his thumb.
