i. seventeen, cisfem, sixth yr ii. slytherin keeper iii. loc ─ slytherin table iv. tags ─ jihoon
xxxxwhen jihoon, one of her house mates began to talk to her, marisol's mouth was overstuffed with golden chicken and roast potato. she put her index finger up in the air between the both of them and avoided eye contact, chewing quickly before swallowing her dinner with one big gulp. "sorry, feels like i haven't eaten all day." no, it was true, the only food she'd eaten was a piece of burnt toast and a stick of gum, if that even counted, and the hogwarts back-to-school banquet was arguably the best meal of the year. in front of her was a plate overflowing with potatoes, roast and arguably too many bread rolls. carbs were the young slytherin's greatest enemy, above any other witch or wizard.
xxxxbefore she planned to stick another mix of potato and roast on her fork, she replied to jihoons question. "the usual, forbidden forest this, quidditch that." she got a significantly smaller piece of roast and plopped it into her mouth, making sure to chew quickly to keep the conversation going, and to not remain stagnant. "something about a party this friday. best costume wins 100 points or something. i only really cared about getting to show off." she chuckled. it was no secret that these two slytherins may have been more of the prissy type. marisol was certainly one to show off, through supplies or fashion or simply being able to shout her friends at honeydukes with whatever they wanted. "she did the whole 'welcome to hogwarts' speel like she usually does." marisol slammed her hand down and pretended to talk like their headmistress in a posh voice. she promptly picked her fork back up and poked at her food, starting to get seriously full. "how was your summer, pretty boy?" there was a sly in her voice. although she was incredibly open about her sexuality, there was always a part of her personality that was honest and open, despite how judgmental she'd become. besides, jihoon was one of the people she well and truly liked. she looked over at him, as he was pliant with his head resting in his hand, incredulously she asked, "what? do i have something on my face? you'd best tell me." she chuckled again.

i. seventeen, cisfem, seventh yr ii. gryffindor captain + beater iii. loc ─ gryffindor table iv. tags ─ aticus, (mentions wren, grayham)
xxxxpoppy was a ball of energy for the entirety of the day. she was just itching to see her friends and housemates mostly, but there was also talk of special events occurring during the school year. as far as poppy thought, it might mean more trips to hogsmede, which really just meant more trips to honeydukes. the captain had stuck with a few fourth years on the train ride to hogwarts, answering their questions about being an older student and what it meant. being in her last year of school was weird for poppy, after this she wouldn't have the routine of hogwarts to stick to anymore, and she'd be left to fend for herself mostly. the next year would be defining for poppy, and part of that made her anxious. she was desperate to play quidditch professionally, but if it didn't happen she wouldn't be upset if she were confined to a desk job in the ministry. though it might burn a hole in her heart, her love for quidditch would always remain. when the hogwarts express finally stopped at a halt at hogsmede station, poppy's energy spiked back up. she bounded on the balls of her feet like a puppy, the cool evening air making it even harder for poppy to stay focused.
xxxxwhen the thestral bound carriages brought her to the castle, poppy found herself looking for a pair of twins, specifically the ravenclaw of the two. the air between her and wren was airy and light until it would thicken and turn into a game of cat and mouse between the two students. did poppy want to see wren as more? absolutely, but did wren want to see poppy as more? that she was unsure of. very aware of how weird the gryffindor must've looked, poppy still relentlessly looked in the growing crowd of students for the barrett sister. as soon as she was able to, poppy flopped down onto the gryffindor table, sitting somewhere in the middle. as mcgonagall spoke, poppy found herself unable to listen truly, only focusing on the little things, forest, quidditch, ball, halloween? as the food appeared after the welcome to hogwarts speel, poppy found herself asking a nearby housemate of hers, and teammate, aticus. "so uhh," there was an uncertainty in her voice. "i wasn't really paying attention that whole time, do you mind giving me a run down?" she laughed sheepishly.

i. eighteen, cismale, seventh yr ii. hufflepuff head boy iii. loc ─ hufflepuff table iv. tags ─ open (mentions newton)
xxxxthe head boy has had a day, that was for certain. he had the privilege of sitting up the front end of the train, his nose in a good book and legs up for the majority of the hogwarts express journey. being hufflepuff head boy certainly did have it's perks. he had stopped just over halfway to not only do a mandatory check in with the house's prefects, one of which was newton, and some of the students in the back carriages. what he'd walked into was compartment upon compartment of rowdy first and second years with far too much sugar flowing through their veins. each compartment was absolutely full of modern hogwarts pupils.
xxxxsome had clear traits and characteristics of the houses they would soon go into. was it stereotypical of gabriel? absolutely, but it would be funny as ever if gab predicted the houses of students before they even were sorted. one cabin in particular seemed to host a duo of gryffindors, and a trio of slytherins. a presumed ravenclaw sat pressed up against the window, but soon made gab rethink his choice as she blatantly corrected another first years mistake eloquently, a condescending tone apparent. he'd told her, "you know, slytherin's gonna need someone smart like you to bring up their reputation." the other pupils in the compartment giggled as those who gab thought of as slytherins scowled. he chuckled and fixed his robe, showing a glimpse of his tie. the student next to the smarter slytherin perked up, yeah she wants to be a hufflepuff, he'd thought, before making his leave, noticing that the sky began to turn dark and he'd need to be making his way back to the front of the train.
xxxxwhen he returned, the book he'd been enjoying had been placed on top of his trunk. there was no point now in reading if the train was due any second to halt at hogsmede. the carriage departed first, aiding first years in the trip to the black lake where self-rowing boats would await them. once he'd done so, with the aid of some of the prefects across all houses, gabriel had been able to rest his feet a short while on the carriage ride up to the great hall. he kept his eyes fixated on the starry night sky, eager to continue his education in the astronomy tower later that week. when he'd made his way to the great hall finally, he was able to gaze more clearly up at the sky. he slid into the room halfway through mcgonagalls speech, sitting down towards the back end of the table.

[female. closeted gay.] [17 years] [hopeless puppy-dog] [relationship:n/a]
╚═════════════════════════╝
☞WREN practically melted when odessa agreed so readily to join her, a look mixed between relief and true joy washing over her face. this year would be different, she could feel it. "only your favorite sixth year?" she shot back, one eyebrow arching upwards as her brown eyes narrowed. "i figured i was at least your favorite student at hogwarts if not your favorite person ever. duh" she quipped, feigning hurt as she turned from the seventh year dramatically, hair swishing poignantly across her robes. wren peeked at odessa again after a moment, admiring the bright smile on her beautiful face.
anyone would be stupid not to know what odessa had been through as a seventh year, though wren never pried. if the quidditch captain ever wanted to talk, the keeper was always right there to offer an ear and a shoulder as well as soft words, but she made it a point not to push and prod. it made a piece of wren's heart truly ache for the bright young woman beside her. not wanting to dwell on sadness and bring the mood down, especially on their first night back at their favorite place to be, the dirty blonde turned her attention back to the mountain of food in front of her, finally acknowledging that she truly had piled far more than she could ever eat.
smiling sheepishly to herself, she gave odessa a few minutes to be lost in her thoughts, something the both of them seemed to be capable of doing fairly often. wren picked at her plate for a few minutes more, saving a bit of room for dessert as she always did. sweets had always been a bit of a weakness for her, both in terms of food and people. speaking of sweets... wren pushed her plate aside, having made what she felt was an appropriate dent and not too wasteful, her brown eyes shooting upwards to scan the room again with what she thought was subtly and tact. graham, aticus, poppy.. poppy?? her head jerked slightly back to the tall quidditch star plopped right next to aticus. had she simply missed her before? of course not, her people-watching skills were magnificent and she had an eye for detail. poppy must've strolled in just before mcgonagall's speech. wren felt her legs begin to tense automatically, her body ready to shoot up and wander over but she stopped herself, not wanting to draw attention or seem overly eager.
instead, wren returned her attention to odessa, tilting her head to watch the older girl for a moment as she noticed her watching wren watch the gryffindor table. the younger ravenclaw brushed it off, though worry clung to the back of her mind. had des noticed who she'd been staring at? would she find it weird if she did? "so. costumes" she pushed her thoughts aside, focusing on something tangible that sat just around the corner. "muggles love halloween, right? do you have any costume ideas from home?" she pressed curiously, knowing that she didn't want to do this whole ball thing half-heartedly. she allowed her thoughts to wander back to the gryffindor table for just a moment, wondering if poppy would want to join her and odessa friday evening, or if she and her other friends had already made a plan.

male x sixth year x seventeen x slytherin x tags: marisol, open
jihoon raised his eyebrows. ”a costume party, huh?” that interested him. he wasn’t entirely what he would dress as, but he wanted to participate. he glanced down at the food marisol had selected, grease practically dripping off its fried exterior. jihoon had never fully adjusted to cuisine here, he could probably eat a little if they had something else more familiar here. waiting for marisol to finish chewing (also feeling like he didn’t want to unexpectedly collapse somewhere), jihoon grabbed a fork and warily looked around for something palatable. he then poked a small piece of steamed broccoli and elegantly nibbled on it.
as marisol did a rather hilarious (and scarily accurate) impression of the head, jihoon barked out a laugh, feeling lighter than he’d felt all summer.
at her inquiry about his summer, he looked away, eyes narrowed, a faint smirk appearing.
“ah, well. i expected them to actually stay in the country this time, considering the last time i’ve even slept at a bed in that penthouse was four years ago and i had endured an eleven hour flying car ride all the way back to south korea. unfortunately the only thing waiting for me was a bag of galleons with my name scribbled on it.”
jihoon reached into a carry-on he’d brought with him and tossed a black velvet bag onto the wooden table, resulting in a loud clunk. it wasn’t necessary to specify who “they” were.
it wasn’t common knowledge among students of younger age, but it seemed that no one in the same year as he had ever forgotten the time when squeaky-voiced first year jihoon started bawling in the middle of this very banquet hall when he found out that other students were receiving letters from their parents. honestly, jihoon seriously regretted that humiliating day. he really didn’t want to imagine what the other students were thinking, how pitiful he must have looked that several ghosts had come over and tried to pat his back, which only gave him a severe cold.
catching a pair of third years watching the large bag hungrily, jihoon nodded at them.
”go ahead. i’ve heard honeydukes has some new flavors of acid pops.”
despite his haughty nature, he’d always felt strong loyalty towards his house, and as a sixth year, would always side with his younger brothers and sisters of fellow slytherin. besides, he wanted nothing to do with the “compensation money”, as he still had plenty anyway from the past times his parents and older siblings found governing magic more important than the youngest member of their family.
he grinned affectionately at his friend. ”yeah, you’ve got a little something,” and lightly flicked her forehead. despite her harsh and snarky exterior, she was a reliable friend. yawning, he reached into his robe pocket and retrieved his wand. it was a habit of his to play with it when his fingers felt a little restless. he tapped at the black walnut wood, envisioning the gumiho fur basking at its core. whenever he’d felt alone, jihoon had always envisioned the tuft of fur his gumiho great grandmother had left behind for her descendants rejuvenate the age-old magic in the snow white fur of her fox form.

─ sixteen ─ cisfem ─ ravenclaw sixth yr ─ loc; ravenclaw table ─ mentions; ─ tags; faye ─
spacermagnolia had been in the middle of a rather large bite when her name being said caught her attention. she politely covered her mouth, hoping to hide her frantic attempts to finish her food in a timely manner. she fought down the mouthful as she fought down a wave of embarassment, but finally, she met the eyes of the girl sitting across from her. with a sheepish smile, she recognized faye's familiar glasses and cropped hair, one of her housemates that had joined several years later. as a result, magnolia didn't know as much about her, but generally enjoyed the times they did exchange words or cross paths. faye had always been quite chill and friendly with her, and magnolia appreciated that. it was a nice break from the plethora of boisterous and flamboyant students at hogwarts, which, while they could be fun to be around, were quite intimidating and energy-draining for magnolia.
spacer'hi faye!' magnolia finally responded with another wide grin. 'my summer went pretty well, i guess, although it's mostly just the same old thing. you know, just staying at home, meeting up with old friends, this or that. although i did miss this place-- i can hardly do any quidditch practice in my muggle neighbourhood.' she chuckled awkwardly at the end. ugh, i rambled so much, she's probably tuned me out at this point, she thought in annoyance to herself, but still continued on. 'how about you? how was your summer?' again, magnolia realized she knew very little about faye, and hoped she hadn't touched a nerve with the question. she didn't even know where faye stayed during the summer, or why she entered the school late. it was tugging at her curiousity, but she knew it would be extremely rude of her to pester her housemate about it.
spacerwhile she waited for a response, magnolia took a chance to glace around the great hall another time, savouring its pretty colours and grandness. it had only been a couple months away from this place, but she had missed how welcoming and comforting it felt. it was truly like a second home to her, and when she returned her gaze back to the conversation at hand, her eyes were just a little bit brighter.

Aticus Bleakwood⏵
Gryffindor―――――――――――――――――◄17|Male|6th Year|Bi|Gryffindor Table|mentions: Milly, Blake|tagged; Graham, Poppy►indentationAticus turned slowly to Graham with a smile that can only be described as mania. "Bruv!! That would sick! I'm jealous I didn't think of that first!" He repiled with enthusiasm. "That's such an easy but effective costume! I think I'm going to ask Milly to the dance. Hottest girl in school, hottest guy. Makes sense. I have no idea what I'll wear though." He added a casual shrug and looked over at the Slytherin girl as he spoke. When Poppy chimed in with her question he looked at her. "So basically Pops Halloween costume ball and a lot of other rubbish I didn't hear." He answers her back "Have anyone in mind you hope askes you?" He askes her crookedly grinning and starts to fill his plate with food. He liked Poppy enough even if she scares him a tad bit. She was passionate about quidditch and he respected that.
As she's talking he can't help but his eyes wandering over at the Slytherin table. His blue eyes traveling slowly between two girls in particular. The Slytherin queen herself Milly and Blake. He looks back at Poppy giving her his full attention. He takes a bit of a turkey leg. "Who are you asking mate?" He then asks Graham after the Gryffinor captian gives her answer. He knew Graham also had a thing for Milly, I mean who doesn't, he just hopes it wouldn't turn into "Let the best man win." type of situation. Milly seemed interested in the both of them as well, also like most girls here in school. Graham and Aticus have a reputation aroun here. Hot bad boys always up to no good. Most girls loved it. Most. Some like Gramham more and some like Aticus just depened. Then there is the few that avoided the chaotic beings they are. He doesn't blame them though. They best friends can be a handful on the right day.

ment. n/aravenclaw 6th yr. | 17 | she/her | lesbianfaye nodded at magnolia's response, then chuckled at her comment on quidditch practice. she liked listening to magnolia speak, it was a nice respite from listening to people like marisol speak. at magnolia's question about faye's summer, the brunette seemed to stop for a moment. i should've known this was coming when i asked her first. stupid! she panicked momentarily, scanning her memories quickly. does she know my history? i mean, i'm sure she knows i'm halfblood, but what else does she know? faye hastily took a breath. no, i've kept my life outside hogwarts pretty secret. only a few people know, and i don't think they'd share that information.
throughout her inner monologue, which took an entire three seconds, faye was expressionless, staring at her plate. she looked up quickly. "oh, you know, got a summer job, hung out with some muggle friends, the usual." she grinned, all hint of her earlier distress gone. "speaking of quidditch, muggle sports just aren't as fun to watch." faye pushed her glasses up, noticing magnolia looking around. "i missed this place." this place was more than just a school, it was her home. she didn't go home for vacations, only summer. she had nowhere to go to back in the muggle world.

xxx Much to his chagrin, Dorian rose and fell as the sun did and though he didn't enjoy it, it was admittedly useful in allowing him time to properly awaken in the mornings before the rest of his household began to stir. If it wasn't for that the hufflepuff was pretty certain he'd miss the train every year - his muggle parents too punctual. The young wizard dressed messily; shirt half tucked, tie askew and poorly knotted but it was how he liked to be. Disheveled seemed to fit him though; it was his whole look in a nutshell. His mid-length hair framed a dark, angular face as he let it sit loose. Ink stained hands rubbed at his heavy lidded eyes before sliding down the rest of his face. God, he hated mornings, and would be forever cursing his body clock for forcing him awake early every morning.
He went through he motions of the morning without much thought. Ever prepared, his trunks had been loaded into the car ready for the journey to King's Cross Station for a week now. The journey itself went without a hitch, notably for the first time in his time at Hogwarts, and the young wizard found himself at the platform with plenty of time to spare. The wizard slept for most of the train journey, used to the long trip. It was the arrival at Hogsmeade that really set off his excitement.
Even after attending Hogwarts for five years, and now coming in to his sixth, often the vast and great expanses were still too much for Dorian to comprehend. He had grown up in the Muggle world with Muggle parents, and thus the stony walls complete with their moving portraits still managed to blow his mind every time he passed through the halls. The journey from Hogsmeade was no different. The crisp smell of the autumn air, the castle looming overhead in the distance; all of it set off every nerve in his body with unbridled, childlike excitement as he clambered into one of the horseless carriages.
He reached the Great Hall without too much delay and entered, eager to get the year started. In all honesty, he wasn't listening all too much to McGonagall's speech. Instead, Dorian's eyes wandered the Great Hall scanning for a glimpse of his friends. He spotted Odessa at Ravenclaw, ever the pair with with Wren and gave the pair a small wave and a grin. The Hufflepuff's interest in McGonagall's speech piqued at the mention of the Halloween Ball. A ball? He loved Halloween.

xxx Waking was always a struggle, and Milly was nothing if not stubborn. Without fail, every morning the Slytherin would find herself roused by something or other, and every time she would try - usually successfully - to force herself back into a slumber. Hogwarts, it seemed, had a horrific number of early bird students, and that population certainly did not include the young witch. Her straight had been pulled into a bun to sleep, though many of the strands had now come loose; sitting wildly atop her head and in every direction. The girl pursed her full lips and groaned a little as she heard a voice call for her from downstairs, fully resigned to the fact that she would now have to get up. Milly forced herself out from the comfort of bed and set about pulling on her uniform. She was meticulous in getting ready. No crease of her shirt could sit the wrong way, her skirt must be perfectly smoothed. After undoing the messy bun atop her head, slender fingers reached to grab the oakwood wand sitting next to her bed. She was tired today, too tired for extremes, and thus opted for kohl on her waterline, some mascara and a touch of gloss on her lips. Happy with her appearance, the willowy witch descended the stairs in her house.
She paid far less attention to packing her trunks than she did her appearance, opting instead to toss everything haphazardly into them the previous night. She was used to the start of year agenda by now, and both of her parents being a part of the magical community certainly made things easier. All in all, it was a fairly stress free morning for the young pureblood. The trip to King's Cross seemed to take all of five minutes. The train journey, of course, was longer however she settled herself into a cabin with a couple of first years and slumped her head against the window. She wondered if she might make some new friends this year, she did seem to be lacking in them so far.
After a fairly uneventful journey, save for a few snide looks directed at the rowdy first years she had sat with, the train pulled into Hogsmeade and Milly could not have gotten off quicker. Whilst she might be used to the journey by now, she had grown up in the magical world and still wasn't too fond of muggle modes of transport. Eager to get to the castle, she hopped into a horseless carriage without much of a second thought and made her way up to the Great Hall for the welcome feast.
Milly entered the Great Hall with a steady stride and head held high. It was good to be back, she thought, as she made a beeline for the Slytherin table where she spotted Marisol and Jihoon. Arguably two of the most impressive sixth years in her house, or, at least, the young witch would hear no different. As she reached the table, Milly parked herself down on the bench near to Blake, another sixth year. She liked Blake, sometimes. A year below her, Milly always felt a little chilly whenever the two would interact and she couldn't feign innocence - she was known to poke at the frost between them on occasion, namely when it came to being a little too friendly with Blake's flame, Aticus.
"So," Milly made eye contact with the other witch as she spoke, "Halloween ball. Any costume ideas so far?" As she spoke, she felt the hairs on the back of her neck standing up as if someone was looking at her. She rolled her shoulders, waited a moment, and looked over her shoulder slowly. Noticing Aticus at the Gryffindor table, she raised an eyebrow at him and gave a pointed wave - her fingers curled in slowly one by one. She then rolled her eyes at him, and turned back to face Blake, her stomach kicking nervously as she did. At the Gryffindor table with him had been Graham, and, honestly, she thought it was an absolute waste that the two of them had been sorted into Gryffindor. "He really can't go five minutes without looking your way, huh? Get a room." The witch drawled, tone only half teasing. She hadn't spoken much to anyone over the summer, and was blissfully unaware of the two's breakup.
