Winston had never really been one to start conversation with most people, and Karter had never exactly made himself approachable, but he had seen him earlier, he could swear to it. Winston scanned the cafeteria until his eyes landed on Karter and Bailey, sitting side by side. "Over there. He headed over there as soon as he stepped out here."

Bailey remained silent for a moment, her jaws clenched with anger. She shook her head, trying to shake away her bitter thoughts. It was all so unfair, and one day, she wanted to rescue all of these people. One day, she would come back, she would save those who deserved their second shot at life that WICKED had taken away from them. "Yeah, they all deserve to be the ones tortured" she mumbled.

Caia looked over where Winston pointed, biting her lip. "Oh. I'll talk to him later, then." He seemed busy, and she didn't want to interrupt them. She wrapped an arm around Winston and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "What have you been up to lately? I feel like I haven't seen you a lot recently."

"I don’t think...they’re bad people. I think they’re desperate people, doin' bad things," Karter finally decided. He’d thought about that part far too much for even his own liking. After all, if the people of WICKED were evil, were cruel, then did that not mean that he and Caia were as well? Yet Caia was kind and good to her friends, and he’d do anything to see his friends to safety. How could they be part of such an evil, if such were the case?

Karter closed his eyes, momentarily blocking out the world. If things hadn’t gotten so out of hand, they wouldn’t even be there. The nurse had stopped right at the head of the room, so he opened his eyes. "The nurse's here for our results, I guess. Nervous?" He asked.

Winston would’ve asked if things were urgent, but then Caia's arm was around him, and her lips touching his cheek gently, just for a brief moment. Despite himself, he felt his face heat up, just a bit, at the touch. He reached over to wrap his own arm around her shoulders in turn, pulling her close to him.

"Exploring the past couple of days. Though it doesn’t look like there’s a ton around here anyway," He explained. "I’m hoping whatever they’re planning to do, they get to it soon. I don’t know how much more sitting around people- including myself- can take."

Caia leaned into his arms, smiling faintly at the embrace, but it faded quickly and she shook her head. "You shouldn't. You should hope they take a while before they do what they are planning," she murmured quietly.

Winston's small smile shifted to a faint frown at her words. Did Caia know what was going on here? Did she know would would happen, where they would be going? Should he be worried about that? No...if she thought we were in immediate danger of some sort, she would’ve said something sooner. He reminded himself. At least...he HOPED that was true. He couldn’t help his own curiosity though.

"You say that...like you might know. Do you know where the people go? I’ve seen some people get taken before, but I’ve..." Winston's voice caught as he made a realization, scanning the faces in the cafeteria. No. He hadn’t been mistaken. He’d hoped that he had been. "I’ve never seen any of them come back."

Caia pressed her lips into a thin line and looked away. "No, then don't come back," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "They're dead. Or as good as dead. Once they take you away, you're not coming back." She didn't know too much about what was happening, but she had her suspicions. "I don't know how to protect you from it. I'll be taken away myself eventually. We all will."

"You work with them. They wouldn’t take away someone who’s worked with them, would they?" That was a truly terrifying thought, he realized. "They’re THAT desperate? Do they even know the effects of what they’re doing? If it yields results?" He frowned. "Janson keeps saying it’ll take us to a better life, a new home of sorts."

"They'd do anything to find a cure. They wouldn't have a problem taking me, too. They will. I know it." Caia shook her head. "He's lying," she hissed, angry at Janson and everyone working with WICKED. "He's trying to keep everyone calm and make them believe that when they take people away, they're going to a safe, good place. But they're not. It's just a lie." She glanced around breifly to make sure no one was listening in on their conversation or had suspicious about what they were discussing.
