Lio had taken his sweet time doing a small lap around the lobby as he did a vague inspection of the room, checking if there anything out of the ordinary aside from the front desk while also keeping an eye on the people slowly trickling their way into the lobby. They all seemed to be human for the mainly, with the exception of one being -- a person who looked robotic, but not in quite the same way as the automaton behind the front desk. No one approached him, and that would normally be quite fine with him but he was itching to find something out so he had no choice to strike up a conversation himself which was not typically something Lio was fond of. He wasn't used to going out of his way to talk to strangers, as back in Promepolis he was considered a "terrorist" (not true) for being the leader of the Mad Burnish which meant he spent most of his time in hiding from the thermal sensors used by the government to track his people down or outrunning the Freeze Force. His people skills were not exactly considered to be up to par in any way. Especially when it came to people from an entirely different reality than himself. Thankfully Lio wasn't someone with the absolute need to be liked and if one of these strangers decided they weren't a fan then that would be on them and he'd simply move on. However, despite that, he also didn't want to accidentally offend someone on the off chance they someone who were to immediately resort to violence -- the man was confident in his own abilities and powers in combat, but starting a fight so soon after waking up in such a foreign location was probably not the best idea.

Hefting a somewhat annoyed sigh, Lio set his sights upon the automaton sitting behind the front desk. He could just go over and speak to it directly, yet for some reason he didn't. It seemed rather suspicious to him, and he'd never admit it, but he definitely felt hesitant about it in general. Lio was used to mechs: fighting against them and piloting them. He was not used to robotic beings that worked all on their own -- part of his hesitance also came from the fact that it seemed to be the one thing that was actually a native in this world. Who knew what it was capable of at this point? He knew he was probably overthinking it, but he just told himself that didn't want to take the chance and mistake; when deep down he knew it was really because he didn't want to be told something he didn't want to hear. Like what exactly they'd be fighting against or that'd it take them an extraordinarily long time to get back to their individual homes. Lio knew that Meis and Guiera wouldn't be able to hold off the Freeze Force for forever on their own, even if they were strong enough to be his second and third in command. He would be devastated -- and livid -- if it were immediately confirmed to him that it'd be a long while before he could get back. He didn't want to properly admit to himself that this wasn't about to be some easy in-and-out mission, but with his mounting frustration to the situation as a whole, he knew he'd have to.

The burnish's gaze shifted from where the mechanical receptionist waited and over to the person standing closest to the desk. There stood a man who looked to be around his age with spiky, seemingly gravity defying hair that reminded him much of Galo. Only this guy's hair was blond instead of a striking blue. He had an almost cartoonishly large sword strapped to his back that Lio knew from a single glance could do a hefty amount of damage to any potential enemies. The other man was several inches taller than he was (which wasn't hard to be, as he was only 5'2"), and gave off the vibe of someone who shouldn't be, and didn't want to be, messed with which only made Lio more curious. To be fair he had a certain level of curiosity for everyone in the room, they all seemed vastly different from one another and he did want to know where each person came from, but it seemed unlikely that he'd get to know them all. So, he squared his shoulders then crossed the room to approach the blond stranger with a calm but guarded demeanor. He hadn't fully been paying attention to the automaton while pacing around the room, so perhaps he had missed out on it saying something. He really doubted it, but he was about to find out for sure. "Has that thing said anything yet?" He asks with a nod toward the desk. Then, figuring that could be seen as a rude and abrupt way to start a conversation, he continued on to introduce himself. "The name's Lio, by the way." Well, for being who he was, that wasn't too rough of a start.

Pit had already awoken and left his the mysterious room he had found himself in by the time the announcement was made over the P.A. system. He wasn't sure what was going on, as this was a place he had never been to or even heard of, but luckily for him confusion was not something Pit was unfamiliar with. However, the angel wasn't able to contact Palutena at this time and it was making him feel nervous and rather antsy. It was very rare that he went without the goddess' guidance, but the few times that he did usually spelled out disaster for either him, the goddess, or the both of them; he just hoped that it didn't mean that Palutena was in danger at this time. Lady Palutena, I'll come and find you! He thought with determination as he quickly made his way through one of the hallways of the inn. Sure, he was willing to help the people of Flodan with whatever their issue at hand was, but if his goddess was in trouble then he would try to find her and help her first. She would always be his top priority.

Pit hummed to himself as he walked along, trying to keep his spirits up -- and also not being able to stand the eerie silence. "Hellooooo? Anyone theeeere?" He called out, trying to open the door to a few different rooms to no avail. They were all locked of course, which only served to make him a little bit more concerned. "If this is a prank, it isn't funny anymore!" The angel added on in as serious of a tone as he could manage. This certainly couldn't be the work of Hades, right? First, he was sure that the god hadn't been resurrected yet -- even though Hades had threatened to do so before he had been defeated. Second, this type of scenario wasn't quite flashy or dramatic enough for it to be the works of the god of the Underworld. He just couldn't figure out who would've done this, if not someone from the Underworld. As he deeply pondered this with furrowed eyebrows and a hand comically rubbing at his chin, he came across another person. She looked to be pretty young, the age of a child, even. Pit's wings fluttered excitedly at the sight of someone else; he hadn't been awake for all the long and yet it felt like it had been ages since he last spoke to someone. He was made to be lonely quite easily in all honesty. He was quick to approach her, stopping only when she whirled around to face him in fright. "Oh! I'm not going to hurt you!" He said swiftly, holding his hands up in surrender. "I wasn't sure if I was going to run into anyone else here! I'm Pit." The brunet added and took a half-step closer to the girl with a cautious glint in his blue eyes. "I take it you're lost here too?" Pit smiles, trying to seem as friendly as he could. He'd never intentionally do anything to harm a human, after all.

Leaning against the wall as others passed her by, the young woman pulled the hood of her jacket over her shorter hair. Her light blue gaze studied the others in the room with mild interest at the various style of clothing everyone wore at the current moment.
"So we're supposed to work together or something?" she muttered quietly, shaking her head slightly with the motion, "Let's see how well that works out."

Her casual stance still held some iota of her alpha-type nature, though the rest of the area seemed to be dominated by normal humanoids. Letting out a soft sigh, she bounced herself off the wall to stand normally, finding a pillar to lean against as she observed the fellow abductees of this realm. Most of them seemed to be younger than herself, with very few within the age range of herself, though she didn't care much. Were she at home, she might not have even spared any of them a glance. This wasn't her forte, as she was used to her exile among the non-shifters.

♣ lain iwakura / 13 / lesbian / SEL
location: hall
power: wired form

lains eyes widened when she was met with the image of a young looking boy with wings. at first she thought it was a simple hallucination, but after blinking a few times, she came to accept that he was real.
"y-yes..." lain looked at him shyly. he was cute, dressed in a robe, and his wings looked soft. "who... are you?" she asked. 'another human' echoed in her ears. it was nearly enough to make her giggle, but she refrained. in fact, lain wasnt exactly a human. she was more of a goddess in a way, being able to transform into a being of the wired, the internet.

───────────────────────
Jade awoke in a cold sweat, jolting upright in the strangely comfortable bed as she attempted to slow her rapid breathing. Usually, she was unable to recall her dreams, but this was... an odd exception. While the contents of the dream itself eluded her grasp, she could remember, clear as crystal, a voice ringing out as if it were directly in her head. From what she could remember, the voice had referred to her as an "outsider" and had beseeched her aid in fighting off monsters from the city of... what was it... Flodan? It surely was not a city that she'd ever heard of in Eorzea or elsewhere... strange. Additionally, at the end of the strange voice's message, it had said something about a promise that they would "send her home" after "this" was all over. Jade had a feeling this line in particular had an ominous implication, but she was unable to place exactly why...

Taking a deep breath and calming her racing thoughts, Jade groggily pulled herself out of bed and onto the floor before suddenly realizing: this was not the cozy Gridanian inn room she had fallen asleep in. Almost everything within the room was a harsh, unforgiving shade of white. The space was almost entirely devoid of furniture, save the disheveled bed she had awoken in. It made her feel... deeply uncomfortable, in a way. This observation, of course, immediately snapped her out of her post-slumber stupor. Her ears perked up in shock at the new change of scenery, her expression soon shifting to that of pure confusion.

Where in the seven hells was she?

Through the walls, Jade's keen sense of hearing picked up on the sound of muffled voices, not too far off. Feline ears flicking, she instinctively reached for her cane, only to grasp thin air. Oh dear. Frantically, she whipped her head around looking for the Rose Couverte, only to find it delicately propped up next to the doorway along with her red shoes... almost if someone did that themselves. Jade never left the staff out of arm's reach, even as she slept, so she ruled out the possibility of herself putting it there. But if not her, then who? Jade's ears flattened to the sides of her head as she picked up the cane and placed it into the sling upon her back and donning the shiny half-boots that had been neatly placed on the floor. Jade then glanced over at the door, slowly approaching it. Her hand hovered over the doorknob for a second in consideration, wondering if she should set foot outside... Well, it wasn't like she was going to find out anything by sitting in this empty room, anyways. She cautiously opened the door, peeking her head out to ensure she wasn't about to throw herself into a perilous situation.

Outside of the room, there was a long, straight corridor. Doors just like hers (presumably leading to rooms just like hers) lined the dilapidated walls, some of them slightly ajar. Clearly, there were others who either inhabited this strange complex... or mayhap they had found themselves here, just like her. Just like the dream. No, that wasn't possible... right? She decided to perish the thought as she gradually opened the door more, taking a careful step into the hallway. Jade stared straight down both directions for any sign of life, only to find naught but more doors. Puzzled, her tail began to swish behind her as she sauntered out of her room and down the hall, heels clacking somewhat loudly against the flooring (much to her dismay).

As she continued walking, Jade noted that the cacophony of voices she'd heard earlier was starting to draw nearer and louder. In the distance, she perceived the silhouettes of others sequestered in the hallway... Wouldn't hurt to investigate, right? She swallowed any uncertainty she had. After all, she was the Warrior of Light. She couldn't be afraid. Finally, after what felt like an eternity of awkwardly standing in the middle of the corridor, Jade called out to the shadowy figures ahead.

"um... hello there?"

The lobby seemed to grow busier with every passing moment; how many people had these spellcasters from 'Flodan' or whatever it was called brought here? Considering they didn't really seem to be aware of who or what they had actually summoned, it wouldn't surprise him to hear that they had no idea how many individuals they had captured either. What even was this spell they'd used to conjure all these people here? It didn't seem very stable - or, at the very least, they didn't know how to wield it very well. It felt pretty stupid to take such a gamble on magic like this, even as a last-ditch effort. There was definitely a risk that not everybody here would get along, or even that some of them were quite the opposite of the 'heroic' type. Cloud wouldn't really have considered himself a valiant hero, but he wasn't about to go around sowing chaos either - that would conflict too much with his simple desire to just get back home and/or move on with his life as efficiently as possible. However, other people might not share that same sentiment. How cruel a twist of fate would it be if one or more among those who had been summoned to aid these people ended up making it that much worse for everyone involved. Those possibilities left Cloud so lost in thought that he was all but surprised to realize that someone else was actually addressing him. Cloud lifted his head with a soft "Hmm?" to get a look at who it was. While he had been idly watching people stream into the lobby, he hadn't been paying much attention to any of them in particular - except for a few tense glances at the big bio-mechanical looking one, which he was still wary of. However, the guy who had approached him looked normal enough at a glance (at the very least, Cloud had seen stranger), though he was quite small in stature for appearing to be about the same age as Cloud. He also (thankfully) seemed a bit more interested in the machine behind the desk than in Cloud himself. All things considered, that wasn't that odd, as the robot was certainly a more striking presence than just about anyone else in the room, though even knowing nothing about it Cloud still preferred questions about it to questions about himself, particularly from strangers. "Not that I've heard." Cloud grunted in response to his question, sparing another glance over towards the automaton just in case something had changed while he was only watching it out of the corner of his eye. "Might be an 'only speaks when spoken to' kind of thing." He suggested.

On a surface level, it made sense, but the notion was still a bit odd to Cloud; he had never seen a fully-constructed robot be used for such a passive purpose. Shinra probably would've used a hologram or an automatic interface, not something as cumbersome as a robot. What worried Cloud was the thought that it was capable of a lot more than it appeared, possibly possessing hidden weapons or exceptional physical power - or that it was secretly running surveillance for someone, either streaming directly to another system or recording and storing data for future use. What if this was all a trick anyway, some sort of cruel psychological experiment or specially-designed series of combat tests being run under false pretenses? He wouldn't put something like that past Shinra's R&D division, especially with Professor Hojo still in charge. These thoughts swirled silently in his head, suspended far above any true awareness that his travel had taken him beyond his own reality, to a place where not even the Shinra Electric Power company could have tracked him nor exerted power over him.

It occurred to Cloud that he had not offered an introduction in return for the one he had been given. With as many variables at work as there were, he didn't want to betray too much to anyone (not that he really did in other circumstances either), but a simple, curt introduction shouldn't have been harmful. "Cloud." He offered, with only a touch of reluctance. "My name, I mean." Not the most suave of introductions, but it conveyed what needed to be conveyed. He wasn't about to start being openly sociable, especially in such a volatile environment, and if anyone took issue with that, it was their problem, not his. Hell, he didn't particularly care how the orchestrators of this whole plot felt about his attitude either. He wasn't a hero or a savior, he was a mercenary - and waking up somewhere strange and being told he had to fight off potentially dangerous creatures for free wasn't exactly his idea of fun. Or even good work, for that matter.

Having confirmed that she was indeed in the same situation as himself, Ren gave a small nod of his head. He couldn't necessarily agree entirely that this was different than he had expected given that he was used to two different dimensions, but the situation itself was one he hadn't expected to find himself in. Usually he was targeting corrupt individuals and causing a change of heart in them, not fighting monsters to save a city. Sure, he fought shadows along the way and they could be classified as monsters of sorts, but that was simply something that needed to be done if he wished to pursue the the path he was carving for himself. Besides, he was capable of using the shadows for his own benefit and he doubted such a thing would be possible with these monsters. This place didn't have the same feeling as the Metaverse did nor could he see any signs of distortion in his current location. It was possible this was a safe place of sorts, but again he had his doubts. "It is no surprise that worlds can be so different," he finally said. It was clear that he was relatively unfazed by the differences between the two of them and he was sure his choice or words might hint to such things seeming normal to him. He was careful to avoid saying that he directly had traveled between two different dimensions. It was better that way for the time being. He was sure that his identity in this place was safe, but he rather be safe than sorry. Enough people had already figured out his involvement with the thieves that he couldn't go risking his cover any farther at least not until he could trust them like he did with those back home that knew. They had only found out because of the trust they had with him and in return he had given that trust back. He was nowhere near that level with anyone here or at least that was what he assumed. Again his mind was drifting far off topic and he gave a small shake of his head to clear his thoughts and focus back on the conversation that he was having. There was no use in letting his mind ponder too deeply into things right now.

As he heard Toa offer her name, he perked up. An introduction. He supposed he should give one too, but that brought forth its own predicament. As he had already thought, giving his real name would have no issues in this place given that this was a different world, but at the same time he wasn't sure if he could entirely trust that. Joker was always a safe bet to use in these situations although it would raise questions as to why someone was named Joker. Then again given the appearance of his current company, he doubted she would question it. It was clear that she was not used to seeing his kind from how she spoke of them. Admittedly, he had never heard anyone call a human squishy before though he felt she was jumping to conclusions based only off what she could see from his half revealed face and neck. What if he had been different under his clothes? Of course, he wasn't but it wasn't as if such a thing couldn't be possible with one of these others. It wasn't something he planned on bringing up though. He still needed to decide which name to go by. Closing his eye for a moment, he allowed himself to think it over before finally giving in to what he thought would be right. "I am Ren. Ren Amamiya, but feel free to address me as Joker," he stated. As much as he hated giving out both, he felt he needed to offer at least a small amount of trust to those he would be working with. Of course she might not realize that from a simple introduction. He supposed it didn't matter though. Besides, his introduction didn't matter much. He still had to answer the question that she had posed upon him. Casting his gaze away from her, he allowed himself to look around the room and take in the others that had since entered. None of them seemed even relatively familiar to him and from the looks of a few of them, he doubted they were from the same world even though they appeared to also be human. Some of the weapons they carried or even clothing hinted at that. "I doubt these people come from my world as well. They may also be humans like myself, but I suspect they come from other worlds as well. They are too different from what I'm used to seeing to be from my home."

Pulling his eyes away from the others, his gaze returned to Toa as he slid his hands into his pockets. Looking at her, he had the desire to ask what exactly she was, but he felt such a question might come off as rude. Was there harm in asking though? She hadn't necessarily asked him about what he was, but he had answered it indirectly in his response to her question. "If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you? You appear to be a machine of sorts, but I cannot say I've seen anything exactly like you, only things that are relatively similar."

Yet another day where Kasumi felt exhaustion take over her body after intensive practicing with her coach. Despite how hard she seemed to try, her attempts at meets always came up the same. She was expected to perform at the highest level in order to keep her scholarship. Taking third like she previously had wasn't good enough for the academy. The pressure had been building up on her for quite some time and she had broken down before awakening to her persona. Ever since then her confidence had returned to normal and she felt better in herself though she wondering if it would actually make a difference in her performance. Sure, she had come to rely on Ren for his encouragement and help that he provided, but she felt that she still needed to find a way to do things herself. She couldn't constantly rely on others to better herself or at least that was how she felt. She needed to find ways to believe in herself and her own talents. Such things made it difficult for her to sleep sometimes, and this was one of those times. While her body was tired, her mind wasn't and such thoughts continued to roll through it as she attempted to find some sleep. To her dismay it was no use. Her restless night was the least of her worries though. Cracking her eyes open with a soft groan, Kasumi rolled her shoulder back as she slowly began to rise up to a sitting position. Still too groggy to realize her change in surroundings, the young gymnast sat there in silence still trying to wake up. Her gaze was cast downward towards her lap and her hair dangling in her face making it difficult to even see anything. After a few moments of complete silence, it finally hit her. Noticing that the covers over her weren't the ones she was used to, she knew something was off. Her head shot up immediately and she brushed her hair from her face as she began looking around. This wasn't her bedroom nor was it any room she had ever been in. Oddly it reminded her of the hotel rooms she often stayed in while away for gymnastics. Was that where she was now? She couldn't recall leaving for another meet though.

Lifting a hand to her temple, Kasumi struggled to try and recall where she might have been, but a voice immediately broke her train of thought. The words that were spoken took her entirely off guard. "Saving this world?" she repeated softly to herself with a slight cock of her head. By no means did she consider herself a hero nor did she even think of herself as the sort that was used to helping other. Usually it was the other way around. She was the one that often sought help and relied on others so much yet here she was in this place being asked to help. If anything this seemed more like a job for Ren, not her. He was always putting others before his own well being and even had been willing to put his life on the line to corner Akechi. That was something she could have never done. The least she had done to repay him was to come to his aid in Sae's Palace so that he could make his escape, yet even she hadn't been aware of his true intentions at the time. It was only after that she found out what they had been planning. Still she had no regrets helping him in that moment. While she was sure he could have held his own, she was sure that she had made things easier on him. Did that one moment truly justify her as a hero worthy of being in a situation like this though? She doubted it. Still it seemed she had no choice but to accept it. It was entirely possible that she was one of the mistakes these spellcasters had drawn here. They did mention that they did not know the capabilities of those they had managed to bring. That was concerning, but she didn't want to let them down. Maybe this was the perfect opportunity to prove to herself that she could be useful and be confident in herself. Giving a firm nod at that thought, Kasumi slipped out of bed only to notice then that she was already in the leotard from her Metaverse outfit. Glancing over towards the closet, she could see the rest of her outfit waiting for her along with her two weapons as well. Wasting no time, she dressed herself and grabbed both the rapier and rifle before putting them in their places as well.

The last thing she grabbed was the mask that waited for her upon the top of the dresser along with the ribbon to tie her hair up. Placing the mask upon her face first, Kasumi grabbed the black ribbon and tied her hair up into its usual ponytail. With that she was finally ready to leave and see what awaited her. Turning towards the door, the teen moved towards it and soon stepped out into the hallway. All seemed quiet which was off putting, but she didn't let it get her down. Moving along the hall, she eventually made her way to a staircase and descended it with haste. Finding herself in what appeared to be the lobby, she looked around quickly at those that had already gathered. There were beings of all sorts and so many people that she had never seen before. It was safe to assume that they were all the ones pulled here by the same means as she was. As her gaze continued across the room, her eyes fell upon a familiar sight. There was no mistaking the long, black coat accompanied by the bright red gloves and white mask. In that moment she wanted to call out to the boy, but she held herself back. He seemed preoccupied at the moment and hadn't noticed her. Bothering him now might not be the best choice. At least she knew he was here as well. That made her feel slightly more at ease. If anything, she knew he was someone worthy of saving others although she didn't necessarily agree with the methods his group had taken. Still there was no denying his kind heart. Pushing that thought aside, Kasumi pulled her gaze away from Ren and began looking around to find someone whom she might be able to converse with. Off to the side, she noticed a girl standing alone. She had white hair and seemed to have little interest in approaching any of the others. Maybe she was the loner type and didn't want to talk to anyone, but she seemed to be the only one that wasn't already engaged in conversation. Deciding to approach, Kasumi allowed a smile to form on her lips before she neared Lumia. "Hello there!" she chimed brightly, trying to come off as friendly as she could. "I'm sorry to bother you, but might you be someone else that has been brought to this place to save it? I know that probably is a dumb question, but you never know."

9S [02]

Postby Zaperrex » Mon May 11, 2020 5:35 am

    【YORHA UNIT 9S】
    【 MALE | ANDROID | NIER: AUTOMATA | TAGS: JADE 】

Perhaps if he were a D-Type, he'd have stayed on task for longer. Heck, a B-Type, H-Type... If his designation ended in anything other than an S. But being who he is, it didn't take long for him to grow weary of watching the humanoid... machine. Not a real machine, so it's probably not a big threat, is it? And it's not even doing anything. Meanwhile, some of the others in the room are beginning to strike up conversations.

9S doesn't follow their example just yet. In his boredom, he'd proceeded to conduct a few more scans and discovered that there were an awful lot of organic signals here. That lead to him messing around with his pod for a bit, and eventually finding a program to confirm that yes, there are humans in this room with him. Actual living, breathing humans. It's an exhilarating and terrifying revelation. Exhilarating because of course it is, he's never expected to lay eyes on a human even before reading those classified documents, and terrifying because they dragged humans over here to fight? What kind of an idea is that? He knows there apparently wasn't any way to pick and choose who they brought over, but what is this, the 2nd or 3rd millennium?

This conflict of emotion keeps him from running over and introducing himself just yet. He doesn't want to take the risk of saying something weird while his emotions are running high. Offensive, even. What might a human find offensive? Anyways, he has to talk to them sooner or later if only to let them know he's at their service, but it won't hurt to put it off for a little while. Maybe he should go explore this building more thoroughly. There are other signals, presumably of those who have yet to make their way to this room, scattered around as well.

No one pays him any mind as he leaves the room. He tries a few doors out in the hallway that are disappointingly locked. He could break the door down, but he's guessing their 'hosts' wouldn't be too happy with that. He'll forgo such disruptive actions for now.

9S hears a voice, surprisingly close. He checks his mini-map and sees a dot only metres away. Around the corner of the hallway, he realizes. Maps are pretty hard to read when there are literally no features on them. After a brief hesitation, he makes himself known. No reason to act all shady or anything. "Hi," he calls out as he turns the corner.

It's a woman. A woman with furry ears sprouting from the top of her head. His eyebrows rise beneath his visor, but his shoulders relax. That's good. Things are less complicated if she's not human. "You woke up in this building, right? What do you think about the whole announcement?"

Human. A strange word, but that was fitting for how strange the species was. The fact that they seemed to be the majority here was strange as well. If the ability that had brought them here had really pulled from random worlds, she'd have expected to see at least a few biomechanical beings like herself here. Perhaps her world was the odd one out. It wasn't something she'd considered before, and she probably never would have if it hadn't been for this. Now she definitely wanted to study this world, the idea of a completely organic ecosystem was fascinating. The energy required to sustain a competely organic body of this size, even as short as they were, must have been enormous. Did they have to eat, like Rahi did?

Joker, it seemed (Or was it Ren? Or Amamiya? Were all of them his name? Joker obviously wasn't the name of his species, but was it a title? She wasn't sure, and asking would probably be rude.) was as curious about her as she was about him. Understandable, if her world was the only one where beings like her existed. She was a bit insulted at him calling her a machine, but he didn't know any better. "I'm a Toa," she said. "We're biomechanical, metal parts connected with organic tissue. I had thought there would be more of us here, but I guess I'm the only one. So is everything in your world completely organic? We have small things, like Kraata and squids, but I would think something your size would take too much energy to be made purely of tissue."

Blinking to the younger teen who had approached her, the older teen's icy tinted gaze settled as she looked the other in the eyes with a seemingly unamused expression. Carefully assessing her, she noted the teen was also a human, like most of the others in the room.

"I guess so? I don't know what we can do to save this place, though," she spoke, her tone guarded, yet even, "I still don't get what they expect a bunch of kids to do, but it's whatever."

Shifting her balance to lean against the pillar with a casual stance, ankles crossed as she crossed her arms over her chest. Shaking her head slightly at the group in the distance with a shrug.

"But who knows what they can do," she mused, mostly to herself, "I just know what I can do, and as such, I can't judge you guys. Humans are capable of things seemingly beyond their strengths. Eh, who knows, maybe we will save it, maybe we won't."

Glancing back to the adolescent human, she tilted her head a bit, letting out a sigh.

"Regardless, I'd hate to see how much blood will end up shed over this," she admitted, pulling her head straight,"Unless it's the adults, then it's up to them. You pups shouldn't have to be in this mess."

Jade let out a quiet yelp in surprise as (what appeared to be) a Hyuran boy suddenly approached her, stepping out from a previously unforeseen side hallway. Fortunately, he greeted her with words rather than weapons, giving Jade the impression that he was no foe. Flustered, she sheepishly smiled, pushed up the bridge of her glasses, and turned to face him. The first thing she noticed about the boy was that he was wearing some manner of... blindfold? This struck her as a bit odd, but she'd seen even more bizarre fashion choices in Eorzea, so she brushed it off. But even stranger was the fact that she could have sworn she'd seen this boy somewhere before... alas, her attempts to recall anything about him were to no avail. Jade had zoned out for a few moments trying to ponder this, but quickly snapped herself back into reality, listening intently to what he had to say.

"ah, yeah, i woke up in this weird place... presumably just like you. but what is this you say about an announcement...?"

She wracked her brain trying to decipher what he had meant... Jade certainly did not hear an announcement in her few waking moments in this peculiar space. Unless it was the strange message she'd heard at the tail end of her unusual dream...? As she stared at the boy in front of her, though, her own thoughts were interrupted with the sound of a pulsing heartbeat in her ears, accompanied with a sudden pang of head pain. The Echo. Jade immediately clutched a hand up to her head, watching helplessly as her vision faded into white and the noise of muffled voices nearby blurred together until it was naught but a low-pitched rumble.

The staccato of high-heeled boots against metal rang clear through her head as Jade's vision slowly returned. From what she could gather at the moment, this memory was taking place in that unusually out-of-place abandoned factory in Kholusia, on the First. But why would the Echo bring her to this moment...? This question was answered soon enough as she looked over and saw a familiar face: the boy she had just been talking to, slumped over in the seat of a vehicle of some sort that had been severely damaged. So that's why she recognized him... In an instant, every minute detail of the memory had hit her like a truck. She had been engaged in a long and arduous battle with 9S in order to protect her guide through the factory, 2P. While Jade was definitely caught in the crossfire, 9S appeared to have no interest in actively attempting to kill her; rather, his sights were set solely on 2P. After the battle appeared to be won, with the machine 9S had been piloting reduced to a smoking mess of scrap, Jade took a breather as she healed her own wounds. However, this moment of respite was interrupted when 9S emerged from the pile of metal and charged at 2P while her back was turned. Luckily, she had turned her head just before he could land a blow upon her, and their katanas met with a resounding clank. Jade could only watch as the two fiercely dueled one another, the sound of their swords clashing piercing the air. Finally, in one swift motion, 2P had dashed behind 9S and began to charge an attack. He barely had the chance to turn around before she delivered the terminal blow, sending him directly into the metal fence behind him and slicing his blindfold clean in half. The fence crumpled beneath his weight and gave way almost instantly, causing him to plunge over the edge. In his final moments, an expression of fury spread across his face as he extended a hand to 2P in vain before being swallowed by the thick floor of fog beneath the platform. 2P impassively turned her head downwards before facing Jade and falling to her knees. Evidently, this is where her vision ended, as Jade began to hear the familiar low-pitched rumble and her vision faded back into white.

Upon her return to the real world, Jade's ears immediately flattened to the sides of her head as her tail went stiff. Her jaw dropped for a few moments before she was able to collect her thoughts and mumble out something coherent.

"you're... 2P, aren't you? don't you remember me...? more importantly, how could you have survived that fall??"
