Something didn’t seem quite right when Karter went off with the supposedly defective Griever, and set it up against one of its own kind. However, Uciel still just gently nudged Bailey and started back towards the Homestead again, which was only maybe ten or fifteen feet away, and there was no hurry so long as the Griever the defect was fighting didn’t decide they looked like easier prey.

"Are you feeling any better?" The Med-Jack asked quietly.

Waste... she thought. Blaire was always one to hide the compassion from people, but the situation tugged at her seams and walls. People were dying, they were getting hurt, and right now with Karter, she wouldn't let anything happen or get worse on her watch.
She stopped walking and spun around to face the taller boy releasing the hand that clutched his wrist after he said he would be okay. "Now listen here mister tough guy. You may think it's a waste or that it isn't a big deal. But what happens if it gets infected? If you don't clean it and tend to it, you get an infection and you get sick. We are leaving tomorrow....no one is going to carry you out of here. And if it gets infected that also makes you a target if we run into any problems tomorrow. So you can either go to a med-jack, let me help you willingly, or I hog tie you and drag you there against your will." she said bluntly. Though most of it sounded rude, it was all because she is worried and cares. She put her fist in her hand and cracked her knuckles with this devilish smile on her face and a dark look in her eyes.
His answer was just as she expected, he was stubborn just like her, and if there was a game for stubbornness it would probably be a tie. A half smile came to her face "that's fine....I'll make sure you dont then." she answered as she grabbed his wrist again pulling him along.

In her thoughts she wondered, who had died from this, who was injured. How many more names would go on that wall before they left? She tucked away those thoughts in a dark corner before looking at Newt directly. "I say let's step outside, it is a little cramped in here." she stated and with that turned around and headed to the door. It was different, she wasnt even scared anymore, and when it came down to it she would put her life on the line for those two. a breath of fresh air would be nice... she thought as she slowly walked. Still hearing the two grievers fighting and then it went silent. "I hope nothing too bad happened." she says, but she could wish all she wanted even though she knew how stuff like this worked.

it felt the claw grasp its lever, ultimately it tried to pull away, but with the defect trying to pull the lever and itself trying to pull away, it gave it enough power to pull the lever down. Causing the griever to go limp and quiet. Bob had won.

Newt nodded and slowly stood. No Grievers had managed to approach any of the buildings from what he could see, though destruction had certainly been left in their wake. None except the two fighting seemed active though, and then the bigger of the two went still. "If the smaller Griever's friendly, then we're all good," he announced, stepping outside.

The defect lifted its head and let out a victorious KREEE sound, like a happy chirping, and released the now-broken lever. It had won, against all the odds. Then it stumbled to the side, but managed to remain standing. For how hard it had fought, Bob was still a Griever, and much like a human's energy might run out, Bob had used up a lot of power.

Karter groaned in response. She had a point. She had MULTIPLE points. "I still don’t like it," he muttered, but stopped fighting her attempts at dragging him to the med hut. Above all, he was a survivor, and if he was going to go down, it’d be fighting, not because of an infected gash!

they were lucky, any griever could of easily attacked the homestead, it could've potentially destroyed the hut and had it come crumbling down on them, but it seemed like everyone who did their part was able to keep the majority safe. She saw the smaller griever a ways away. "if it wasnt I'm sure it wouldve attacked us by now." she states. But she was still cautious. She could see that physically the defective griever was worn out. She still had this fear of these creatures but she would never freeze in shock from it ever again. She looked at Newt "lets hope that more doesnt come." even though newt made a good point earlier there is always a chance more could come, too keep them on their toes.

she rolled her eyes as they approached the hut. "quit your whining...we need everyone in their best shape and health so we have the best chances of getting out of here." she stated, even though she wasnt one to talk. The only difference was there wasnt anything anyone could do to fix her injuries, hers would heal with time, and there was no possible chance for infection. Tomorrow there will be a lot more pain than now.
She walked to the hut and opened the still pulling him along before releasing his wrist once they were in and motioning to him. "alright lemme have a look."

"I doubt it," Newt told her. "They woulda sent them all out at once in hopes of overpowerin' us, don’t you think?" It was what made sense to him, but then, that was just him. Maybe he wasn’t seeing the big picture. "Especially now that they see there’s a defective one that can fight FOR us and is capable of takin' out its own kind."

"I will never quit my whining," Karter muttered, but there was a lighter note in his tone this time, almost joking. Perhaps to keep his own mood light. When she released his wrist, he drew his arm back quickly, his skin tingling from the touch. Bad. He'd never been one for touch, perhaps another reason he was hesitant to get treated, but she was right. He hesitated, biting his lip as he stared down at himself, then rather reluctantly pulled off his hoodie and rolled up his shirt to reveal the gash left by his ribs. Without the hoodie, he certainly felt insecure without the extra weight, and tonight's attack had done nothing for his anxiety levels.

"yes but what if the intention wasnt to overpower us, but to wear us down? They obviously dont want us all dead. We cant let our guard down so easily." she wanted to be positive but she was also trying to be realistic and cautious. The last thing they needed was to have another attack and no one is ready, she believes Newt is right and this is probably all they are going to face tonight, but it's better to be safe than sorry. "I'm not saying we should stay up all night, but we should just be careful and alert, just incase."

"such a baby...." she said crossing her arms. She waited patiently for him to show her the injury. She didnt touch him, she simply leaned over and looked at it. "its kind of deep from what I can see." but it was also hard to tell exactly because of the blood. cleaning comes first she thinks as she walks towards the stock of stuck in the med hut. She grabbed some water, and then saw a mixture of herbs on a shelf. It was labeled antiseptic, than lastly found a wrap that would work in covering it and help stop the bleeding. She came back his way and placed all the items down on a table nearby. She opened the water bottle and hesitated for a moment before pouring the water on the gash. Taking a cloth and wiping it off gently.

"No. If we stay up all night, we won’t have energy for tomorrow." Newt looked to the two Med-Jacks. "Violet, Valentina, get some sleep. I’ll take first watch, but I don’t think we'll be in much trouble now." He could feel that. And besides, even if another Griever or two came, it’d be better to deal with them here, disable them where the Gladers knew the area. Less to deal with in the Maze escape the following day, right?

"I am not!" He insisted, and proceeded to deny his point by yelping at the sudden touch of water on the wound. His heart sank when she said it was deep. Even though she was no Med-Jack, as said Med-Jacks were busy with already injured people, he trusted Blaire's word, and suspected she wouldn’t joke about such things. Not so soon after such a serious scenario. "H-Hey...I’m sorry." He laughed quietly, but even that hurt. "I’ve been pretty nasty to you in the past. Fought everythin' you said or did, even the stuff you did for the benefit of others. Mainly ‘cause I didn't really understand that kinda thing," he admitted. "I just wanted to say sorry. I've got nothin' against ya, and quite honestly, the banter we’ve shared back and forth made things more tolerable out here."

she nodded with the two, following them outside. it would be good to have a little bit at space. yet at the same time, she dreaded seeing what was out there, who hadn't managed to get to safety. "i wonder why they'd make a friendly griever..." she whispered to herself. as newt ordered the pair to sleep she wasn't going to fight it, he was right. it would be much harder to get out if they were absolutely exhausted. "alright, take care and wake us if anything happens." she said with a brisk smile, she slowly walked back to the homestead, trying to consider whether or not it was worth heading to the med-jack hut quickly. there may have been people injured, or even dying, but would they have managed to get that far?

(that might add a little drama to it xD)

Newt nodded to Valentina with a small smile forming on his lips. "Don’t worry, I will," he promised, although he was fairly certain there would be no more trouble. WCKD had tested them. They had tested them, and the Gladers still stood. Well...most of us. I hope...we didn’t lose anyone. It seemed inevitable, but he hadn’t SEEN anyone die, nor had he heard anyone calling out someone's name with grief. It was a good sign, at least.

She wasn't sure if she was tired, honestly the whole night made her not want to sleep. She waved to Valentina gently as she headed back into the homestead. She wasn't ready just yet to go to sleep. "Honestly if you want, I'll take first watch, I wanted to get some packing done anyways." she said as she pushed her hair behind her ear. They would need herbs and such in case someone gets hurt or sick. She really didn't want to be possibly rushed in the morning and forget something. Her eyes looked up to the sky for a moment, the conversation from earlier sprung into her head. Why aren't there stars here? she thought, questioning. And if there weren't stars here would there be stars outside of the maze? Was this a different sky? She looked back down as she glanced at the Med-hut.

She noticed the change in behavior about her saying it was deep. "Hey don't worry, it's not too bad, it doesn't look like it hit anything important, it should heal fine...as long as you keep it clean." She said as she light dabbed the gash. She was being as gentle as she could. She stood up straight as she opened the herbal mixture of antiseptic. "There's nothing to be sorry for...I'm not exactly the easiest person to get along with, that much I know. If you were mean and stubborn, I more than likely did something to cause it." she said not daring to look at him directly. She knew how hard-headed and hot-headed she could be.

She took the herbal mixture and lightly put it on the gash. "Don't worry about my feelings or anything like that Karter, they don't get hurt easily." she paused. "Besides I fought you on just about everything too, so we are even. And bantering with you was pretty fun too." she said with this soft smile on her face and it looked like she was reminiscing, but she still didn't look at him directly. She grabbed the wrap and wrapped it around his ribs before tying a knot in it to secure it. She did tie it a little tightly just so the pressure would help with the bleeding. "Alright you're all wrapped up." she says standing up straight and putting her hands on her hips as if she was proud of her work.
