She put a finger under her chin, thinking about it. "Maybe we can test that tomorrow before we leave?" she asks. Having something that wasn't so bitter as the drinks at the bonfires and had more taste than just water might be awesome. But she wondered how they would make this concoction. It wasn't like they had the tools they needed to, to be able to make apple juice and stuff like that. She slightly chuckled at Valentina's comment "I agree, it was very bitter and gross, I could hardly keep it down." she stuck her tongue out and made a "bleh" sound.

Even though he looked like and sounded like he knew what he was doing there was still this shred of doubt and worry. Don't attack it? If that griever throws him he could potentially get really hurt or die from it, depending on the throw or the griever could go the other direction and sting him. But she listened to him and remained a few feet away. The griever seemed like it was going to be smarter than that but then after a few moments that seemed like forever, the griever pulled karter off of its back and threw him. But shortly after that, the griever had gone motionless and quiet.

The griever snarled and finally regained an upright position as it then took a few steps back away from the defect. it had underestimated the small griever. It would not let that happen again. Its tail raised again, but not in an offensive way, it was using it tail as a defense. It stomped one of its front legs as if to egg the defect on.

The sandy haired boy fell silent for a long moment. Thinking like this took some of the stress away. It was nice to just stop and dream sometimes. "Assumin' we have the time," Newt decided. He stared briefly out the window, bitterly watching the Grievers. "The sooner we get outta here, the better, in MY opinion. I’d personally rather sleep for a couple hours, then get the hell outta here before we lose MORE time," he added.

When the Griever threw him, Karter yanked the lever as hard as he could. The throw sent him sprawling several feet away, landing on his side. He cursed under his breath, winded. The Griever had stopped though. The move had been successful. I hadn’t even thought about all the risks. Coulda gotten stung. Though I guess since we're getting outta here tomorrow anyway, they couldn’t exactly Banish me. "D-Did it stop?" He asked, barely daring to look up.

Defective Bob screeched and reared up again, the grabbing claw on the end of the long tail snapping open and closed repeatedly. The creature fell back to the ground again, tensing every capos and muscle in its body, then sent the tail and the grabbing claw lightning fast towards the other Griever. This Griever was trying to hurt its tiny human friends! That was bad, right? Yep. THAT couldn’t be allowed to happen!

Vi nodded slightly though she didn't agree completely. "While I agree the faster we leave the better, we really don't know what's out there and not preparing for the worst could be bad, we need to at least pack some food and water, in case we don't find any out there." she paused, "Doesn't really matter how far we get if we all die of starvation and dehydration." she finished. It was true, even though they had dreams and hope of what the outside could possibly look like, they all had to be realistic and be cautious, even if they did find water and food, how would they know if it was safe to eat? They have always been provided the food and water in the glade, and they don't know anything different. "We have to not just be fast but smart too. If we rush out there with no supplies there's no saying what the outcome could be."

She watched as Karter was thrown, she couldn't care less about the griever. All though from the silence it would seem that he was successful in shutting it down. She ran over to him and crouched down next to him. "You idiot! Are you hurt?" after looking him over she punched him in the arm. "You could've gotten killed!" her eyes narrowed at him. She at this point was muttering under her breath, worried about Karter but ultimately she covered it up with annoyance. She crossed her arms as she stayed crouched down by him and after a few moments of silence she huffed. "Yeah it stopped." she rolled her eyes slightly.

The griever was completely thrown off by this defect, never had it have to fight one of its own kind. It watched at the creature reared up and then it focused on its tail. Even though the griever was focused on the tail, the defect had an incredible speed that it did not. Soon enough the griever tried to deflect the tail but unfortunately missed, and the defects tail made contact.

"Oh! Of course not! I wouldn’t be THAT jacked. We're gonna take supplies with us. We'll pack light, but we’ve gotta take stuff with us, or like ya said, it won’t matter if we get out if we don’t have anything we can survive on," Newt agreed. He’d already packed a bit before the Grievers had come, but there was still plenty to do.

Karter chuckled, painfully pulling himself into a sitting position. "I know I coulda, but there were two choices. POSSIBLY get killed, or get killed for sure. I figured if I’m goin' down, I'm takin' it with me." He raked his fingers through his unruly brown hair. "But, I didn’t die, and the Griever did," he pointed out. Logic.

Bob screamed at the enemy Griever. Why, since the defective one was the one with the upper hand now? No particular reason. Just because it felt like it. The Defective Griever swung the long, lashing tail again towards the larger one, aiming to try and hit it in the back. If it could grab the lever and pull, it’d be over...

She found her self with a wave of relief as she heard him agree, although she knew that he would because Newt wasn't dumb. "Okay good, so....we will pack up in the morning and then leave..." she smiles and looks at the boy. Was this really happening? Were they really going to get out finally after all this time? There was a part of her that is excited but another part was worried, it was going to be a huge change, and the change could go in any direction it wanted, meaning good or bad. She was just hoping that it would be a positive change. It was time for people to start adapting and getting ready for the possible challenges that lie in wait.

Her eyes beamed at him. That was no excuse, they already lost so many people in the past and probably even more tonight, they needed as many people as they could so they could leave in the morning and have a good chance of making it. "Idiot..." she muttered under her breath before standing and putting her hand out for him to help him up.
"Is there any more grievers besides the defect and the one it's fighting?" she wasn't sure if she could take another hit like before, the next one might break her ribs, and at that point, she would be useless, and could potentially be left behind. She looked around, her eyes landing on the griever that karter had turned off. "How....did you know about that off switch?" she asked curiously.

At this point the griever was starting to freak out. It found itself charging head-on at the defect even though bob was going to attack with its tail again. It wasn't able to deflect bobs movements so its only choice is to rush bob and hope to do some damage. As it rushed bob it opened its mouth and tried to bite down what would be bobs neck.

"Yeah. It’s actually happening. This time tomorrow, we'll be out there, wherever THERE is, and we'll be free. No more walls, no more shuck Grievers, no more Box and Greenies bein' sent up without their memories," Newt promised. He could feel it right in his heart. They could do this. They were strong and capable, and they would have the Runners leading them. This was entirely possible.

Karter accepted the hand up, pulling himself to his feet, though every bone in his body ached from being thrown. He’d shake it off sooner or later. "I dunno. The first time...it was an idea. We know these things're mechanical, so I figured there HAD to be an off switch of some sort. After that, I just kinda dug 'round until I found somethin', and if these were all made by WCKD, they all probably had the same build," he pointed out.

Bob screeched as the needle-like teeth met the greyish brown skin, throwing it off guard, and off to the side. The defective Griever lashed its tail towards the functional Griever, more than anything in a desperate attempt to either disable it in the meantime, or otherwise free itself. It was fully capable, speed and movement, regularly, courtesy of its smaller size and programmer, but not when it was being bitten!

she listened to them talk mainly. she didn't really know what the plan was. she hadn't had a chance to ask about anything properly. as much as she loved the thought of leaving, the outside seemed to worry her just as much as the glade did. "well, do we know if there's even anything out there? what happens if it's just as bad out there as it is in here?" she didn't want to put a damper on their mood, but she wanted to consider reality. they had no idea what was outside. they could have been sent into the glade for some sort of reason.

"No," Newt said, eyes turning to Valentina. "We have no idea what’s out there, but c'mon. It’s gotta be better than worryin' bout the Maze, if people will come back, gotta get better sleep out there than in here, listenin' to the Grievers screaming at us all night, right?" He pointed out.

Violet looked at Valentina and then Newt. "Yeah, it can't be worse. But if it is worse than here, we can handle it! We are all survivors and fighters. Just because things get hard doesn't mean we should give up. Because if that was the case, the runners would've given up on finding a way out a long time ago!" she said with a hopeful look on her face. She believed in everyone, there was no way any of them would let another down. Everyone here worked hard and put in there best, except chance. The gladers were one unit, and even though they aren't really family, its the closest thing to it.

She looked at the griever that was "dead" as he spoke. "I guess that makes sense, so it was like a hunch. I'm surprised honestly, you'd think WCKD would be smarter than that, or at least make it harder." she commented. "I mean they did most of this so they have to have some sort of smarts right? So why make a shut down for the grievers in the first place?" she wasn't exactly asking the question for an answer. She wasn't complaining it was nice having something that was easier than figuring out the maze.

It quickly released the defect and took a few steps back, the tail that bob was lashing around had hit it and now it had a non-functional eye. This would make things more complicated and difficult because now it can only see out one side. It couldn't match the speed of the defect but it definitely could overpower it in strength.

That was true. Minho had run the Maze for more than three years, day in, day out, and he’d never thought about quitting to Newt's knowledge. Not once. "We have different skill sets, and if we can all combine those skills, that got us this far when some didn’t, that got us our jobs and our connections to each other, we can overcome anythin' the world has to throw at us." He firmly believed that too. He had to keep a brave face for those he led, if it could be called that, and with these thoughts in mind, it wasn’t hard. He was ready for whatever the world could give them, be it good or bad. Just one way or another, Newt was sick and tired of the limited area called the Glade.

Karter shrugged in response. "Well I mean...the Grievers disappear durin' the daytime," he pointed out. "If they were on constantly, I seriously doubt they’d just stay in place all day. So maybe wherever they go...WCKD shuts them off?" He frowned. Even he wasn’t privy to everything that went on with WCKD, even if he was one of them, he was only a small part of the big picture. "I think... aside from the one Bob's fightin'- yes, I named the defective Griever. Deal with it.- all the Grievers've been done in. Not as many injuries as I’d worried ‘bout either." He himself had a fair few injuries, mostly scrapes and bruises. He could deal with that, but he had obtained matching gashes on his sides, small but painful, from where the Griever had grabbed him. For the moment, he kept them covered with his hoodie.

Bob chittered in satisfaction, and paused briefly to glance over at Blaire and Karter as it registered the Griever they had been fighting had stopped. Beetle blades scuttled here and there, keeping an eye on things, but Bob paid them no attention, but rather, turned back to the now half-blind Griever and made an odd sound somewhere between a screech and a yelp, taking a single step back, as if goading it to start the fight again.
