She looked over at Violet as she approached and waved. "Hi!" she greeted.

Still, guilt flickered through Karter. There he was, complaining about the fact that his friend liked another guy, but moments ago, he had been sitting next to her, and now he was talking to Blaire, who's friend seemed not to even share the same earth anymore, the way she spoke. He wanted to offer sympathy, but guessed it might not go over well, or might even just come across empty. A heaviness settled over him. Something has to be done, and something has to be done SOON. "Friendships always matter, even if all you’ve got is one."

Newt shrugged. "Hopefully. Everyone's eatin' and drinkin' now, so I reckon they’ll be in the spirit for it soon enough," he noted. Usually the Gladers picked up the spars after they were just a BIT tipsy. Good times, without a doubt, though Newt himself doubted he’d be any good with a match. He nodded to Violet as she approached. "Hey Violet. How you holdin' up?"

She offered a halfhearted smile. "I suppose..." she said as she took her cup and drank from it. Karter was easy to read, "I suggest if you have something to say to sunshine, you should say it soon, or you'll regret it." she explained as she took another gulp. She never did tell her friend anything she felt. She looked at her friend like a sister kind of way, and she cared about her greatly, in the end though she wasnt able to save and protect her, and those words of how much she meant to her were never said and she regretted it everyday.
She continued to try to push the conversation in another direction "so do you think Minho or a griever would win in a race?" she asked. She just wanted to move on from this topic desperately.

She smiled to kit and did a small wave "hey!" she then looked to newt and nodded a bit "I'm doing okay, how about you?" she knew newt had been stressed of the late, just about anyone could see it, it worried her a little. She had a smile on her face though. " you guys dont look much like your celebrating." she looked between the two of them.

Newt shrugged. "I’m doin' okay myself. As for celebrating...well come on, the party's only just started!" He insisted, but there was no scolding in his tone, and his eyes lit up. "We were just talkin'. You having any fun out there? I hear Valentina and Kane did a match just now. Missed it, unfortunately. That woulda been an interesting one to see."

Karter's shoulders tensed and his eyes narrowed. What's going on here? I didn’t say or do nothin'...and I’ve had YEARS to work on the acting skills...she shouldn't be able to see through me. He lifted his head and shrugged. "I will. She told me to come find her when she’s not 'busy'." He glanced towards where Minho was standing by the fire. "Hmmm...I’m willin' to reckon Minho. Grievers are big and clumsy."

She chuckled a bit with Newt's answer. It was true just getting started for the party. " that would have been really interesting, who do you think would be next?" she asked as she looked in the direction of where the sparring usually took place. She wasnt the strongest at fights physically. Her eyes wandered back to the two of them.

She glanced over at caleb and bailey but this was a different look, it wasnt filled with malice or anger, it was an emotionless glance. As he was talking about her not being busy "its harder than it sounds, she is glued to him and him to her. She didnt seem like she was busy until caleb came over." she had a bit of annoyance in her tone but it was less than usual.
She felt a laugh trying to come up but she quickly forced it away. " I agree, okay, okay what about....hmmm. a sparring match between you and me?" she though about it thoroughly. It might be an even match. She was on the shorter smaller side but she wasnt all skin and bones, she liked to box a lot in her free time.

"Welll...I’m willin' to bet Minho's gonna pitch himself up against someone. Though I dunno what poor shank he'll get to take on a match with him." Minho was fast, he was strong, and he certainly had a comeback for everything, be it physical or verbal. Newt himself had given up trying to spar with the Keeper a LONG time ago.

"Before Caleb came over, she was already talkin' to me, but Caleb..." he shrugged, his face carefully kept expressionless. Why should he care, if he wanted to be in decent terms with all his fellow Runners? "I know they’re close. Guess he takes priority, and...that’s fine, I guess. There’s plenty of people ‘round here." He paused, smirking. "A sparrin' match between you and me? I ain’t built for sparrin', so I’d say you’d PROBABLY win. Dunno what your strength levels're at."

He was short, he wasn’t strong by ANY means. He was fast, he knew how to move suddenly and sharply, and he had technique, and more than a healthy amount of confidence, that was about it.

"is he really that good?" she asked due to the way he answered.
"okay then if you could guess someone to be able to keep up with him who'd you think? Is there even a fair partner for him?" she asked as she looked in minho's direction. She had a few conversations with Minho but he was usually short with answers or just busy.

"you're doubting your answers which means it really isnt okay." she said as she drank more and finished another cup.
A small smirk came on her face. "awe you make me blush." she said sarcastically and jokingly. She looked at him "you dont really need a specific build to be able to spar though, you just need to know how to use yourself to it's full potential." her eyes looked at the direction of where the sparring took place. She loved testing her strength against people, she wasnt a sore loser and would actually use the loss to better herself and her skills. She knows when someone beats her it's best to acknowledge it as it is and in a positive manner.

The young runner guessed that her nervous movements must have been irritating, but she couldn't help it. <What's wrong with me?? Why do I feel like this? Nervous, giddy... it's a good feeling but-> she thought to herself and she perked up. "Sorry... my knee must be really annoying" she chuckled, but smiled down at his hand. She shifted so that she was leaning against Caleb better. The arm around her felt better, safer. She grinned and noticed that Caleb was looking ahead of them, at Karter and Blaire. "Trust me Caleb, she enjoyed your company... I think that's why she hates me so much. Because you're sitting here with me and not over there with her" she pointed out and cleared her throat slightly. The smile returned to her face. "Well, I mean... whatever you want..." she muttered, turning slightly to search his face, the smile slightly goofy now.
