She jumped slightly to the voice that spoke up. "Jeez." she said under her breath as she regained her self. She didn't expect him to just pop up out of thin air like that. She watched as he kept moving around this griever. If she wasn't so terrified of the regular grievers she would probably think that Bob was oddly adorable. Their relationship was weirdly comforting and cute. She shook her head slightly and put her tough act up again. She walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder "Hmmmm, well since you asked nicely fine, but you're lucky...I was getting pretty annoyed having to come out here and track you down." she said as she narrowed her eyes at him slightly squeezing his shoulder before releasing and putting the hand on her hip. She was even nice enough to put some wraps and more herbal antiseptic into her bag for him, but she would never tell him it was because of him. "Well...at least I found you..." she said as she looked at Bob.

She nodded lightly "Don't get me wrong it was kind of scary to come up and not even know who you are. But...there's no telling if I was the same before this, or if I knew you all before. So...I guess I'm just grateful I do now. Everyone here is so...strong and unique. I honestly couldn't see myself without every one of the gladers besides me." she explained.
She watched the girl for a moment, offering a hopeful and warm smile. "Don't worry! We have a lot of people we can trust to lead us through the maze. Minho especially...he's been at it for years, he knows this place probably like the back of his hand. This is what he lived and breathed for since he came up. We will make it through it."
Maybe it was because she was so optimistic that she saw everything in a different light. She was pretty excited to see what was beyond the walls, and what the maze is like.

Violet had a point. Minho could probably run the Maze with his eyes closed, then come back to gloat about it. Even if it was a stupid thought, perhaps in her anxiety, Alex wondered if he ever had. He did often brag about knowing the Maze inside out and backwards. Yet they hadn’t found the exit until the day before.

"I think that’s why he and Karter will be heading the pack. One has the whole place mapped out, and one knows the exact area of the exit," Alex pointed out.

"I know, I’m sorry, really." Karter dropped his gaze. They could be getting out already, but he’d held people up trying to fix a Griever. Yet, he’d built and programmed that Griever. It was more than just his first project. The thing seemed to have a mind of its own. It was like he’d literally just made a friend for himself. Can’t run out on friends, right?

He fought back a shiver at the touch, anticipating it, but that shiver that usually accompanied touch never came. Even if she didn’t trust him now- and rightfully so, after what she’d learned- he still had to admire and respect her. "Yeah. I’m here. Is everyone else already ready?"

"Honestly though. it's not a big deal, Newt kind of isn't pushing people. Minho had to step up to the plate to get people to hustle. Everyone is waiting at the entrance of the maze." she states pointing to the gates, her eyes then followed the direction of her hand. "I'm not too sure if everyone is. But if they aren't ready in 2 minutes we are leaving...We can't keep wasting daylight. They will have to manage with what they have." it sounded harsh, but it was the truth. They can't keep wasting time. "But we might as well head over and wait for Minho to make the call...and trust me both of us don't want Minho to have to come over here." even though she was strong, and put up this tough front, Minho was definitely scary when he was annoyed or mad.

"I'm sure that is true. But we also have another ace up our sleeves." she pointed to Bob. "Newt said that it apparently is friendly, and it seems that it helped take out some of the grievers last night." she paused, "We already have a foot through the door when it comes to upper hands." though she was worried that this griever could possibly turn on them, she quickly shook her head to get the thought out. Why would it attack when it fought so hard to help them? She questioned herself. You're just being paranoid..cool off. she gave herself a pep-talk.

Alex cast a brief glance towards the creature known as Bob. "Did Newt see it fight though? It’s still made by WCKD, so unless it has some misprogramming, or somehow has a biological brain capable of emotionally bonding, I won’t be a hundred percent convinced it’ll stick with us," the blonde noted.

Perhaps it was stupid to worry about such things. Perhaps she would’ve been better to place her trust in it. It seemed to like Karter and Blaire well enough, and was peaceful with them from what she could see.

Karter shook his head vigorously. "Definitely not. I don’t feel like gettin' snapped at by the Keeper." He straightened himself. He checked Bob over once more, but nothing was oozing or leaking, so he deduced him in good enough shape. For now, anyway. He'd keep an eye on that until they actually got into the Maze.

"I’m bringing Bob with us. I know there’s gonna be Grievers to fight, and I’ve done some work. Bob should be a bit more balanced now, and I fixed his grabber. It got damaged pretty bad last night, he should be able to take on one or two and allow a few Gladers to slip past," he explained quickly, before questions could be asked.

"I'm not sure if he did. He said something about Karter though." She felt the same way, but she didn't want to pass that uncertainty either. "Honestly, I think it would be best if we didn't let our guard down around it. But until it gives us a reason other than it being a griever-to not trust it I think we can let it help out." she shrugged. "Besides it's not hurting anyone right now, so i feel like we aren't in much danger." she said as she watched the griever. "It will give us more of a chance out there, and maybe help even the playing field."

She smirked slightly and slowly started to head towards the group surrounding the entrance. "Good then let's go." she says. She looked at him once he started to speak again. "That will give us an upper hand, you're pretty good with your hands huh?" she paused, "...but not everyone is going to be grateful or open to the idea of Bob." although she knew he probably already figured that out. The people here have been told over and over again what the grievers are like and how dangerous they are. And a lot of them got to see that first-hand last night. More than likely most or almost all of them didn't see Bob on their side and just saw him as another griever. "They are going to be scared of him... she explained.

He was standing practically at the group now, the bag slung over one shoulder. He could hear all the voices of everyone speaking, his eyes glancing at different people as they spoke. It was loud....he rolled his eyes. They would need to be quiet once they were in the maze or they would literally be the easiest target to find.

That was equally true, Alex reflected. It had fought FOR them the night before, not AGAINST them, and so maybe it had a connection to someone here, and if that someone was leaving with them- and they all were- then maybe the Griever would give them the upper hand. What's happening to me? Normally I’d be the one so upbeat and cheery about these kinds of things. She realized.

"You know...now that you mention it, yeah. Never judge a book by a cover, or a Griever by its skin. I don’t THINK that particular one tried to hurt any Glader? I didn’t see," she admitted.

Karter closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again and began to follow Blaire. He gently pushed on the side of the Griever's leg, where it hinged, and the creature followed them with a surprising grace, where most would lumber and generally look heavy and depressed. Bob chirped happily, a sound very uncharacteristic of a Griever.

"I know, but they’ll see he’s a friend. Honestly, even if they stabbed him by accident in the fray, I’ve programmed him specially. The only things he’s gonna be able to register as threats are his own kind. Human faces are the faces of friends, and he has a bit of my spirit in me, I reckon, the way he fought last night." The question then was if their leaders would accept it. If the other Runners and Newt accepted or at least were open to the idea of the Griever, then perhaps it’d go over better.

She smiled, she was glad she was able to help Alex see her side and from what Vi saw, seem a little more comfortable with the idea of having a griever on their side. "Exactly! As long as we have no reason to believe it's going to hurt us, I don't see any harm in it helping us." she said as her eyes went to the entrance of the maze again. I wonder when we are going.... she thought. She felt like a kid, waiting for permission. But she didn't mind that part of it much, it was just the anticipation that was killing her. She sighed.

She looked back at the two, seeing Bob make his way behind them. It was odd, being this close to a griever who wasn't trying to kill her. It wasn't something she could get used to so quickly, so she hoped people would be terrified of him. She couldn't be sure though of how the others would react, it could go either way. Karter needed to be the one to talk to everyone, besides it was his pet. "Well, let's not have Bob get stabbed after you just fixed him up. I think you need to just keep him back a little bit and show them. They need to see what I saw last night. Honestly without Bob...I'd probably be dead. " but she shrugged as if it meant nothing if she had. "He helped keep the other griever's attention off of us while we took care of another, and he even disabled it on his own...the others...they are just going to need proof, and time." she explained. some more than others.... she thought.

"Guess we’ve just got to keep our heads in the game and things‘ll turn out. We have the Runners, an exit, we're armed, have way too many Med-Jacks, and we might have a friendly Griever on our side." Alex grinned, both amusement and confidence radiating from her, just for a brief moment. "I’m liking our odds."

"You say it like it’s no big deal," Karter noticed. "This guy's gonna keep us goin'. We're gonna make it outta this place, and one day we're all gonna be free." The word felt like a lie on his tongue with the whole virus thing, but there would be a cure one day, and most of these people were Immune. Most of them would live relatively safe lives. "I know. Bob'll give them all the proof they need when he fights on our side, and he will. I’ve never had a flaw in the official programming I’ve done. I don’t expect there to be errors this time. We’ve got assets."

She shrugged "people die all the time here...we have the wall full of names that have been crossed out to prove it. One more wouldnt make a difference, either way...everyone would be leaving to get out of here." she explained. It wasnt the most positive but it was the truth. Life here in the glade waits for no body, even the dead. She looked at the griever and nodded "I can see it...but where is he going to go once WCKD gets us? Theres no way they'll let you take him with...." she lowered her voice at this point.

"me too! And once we get out of here...I'm hoping there wont be anymore grievers to deal with. And we can all be happy and relax finally! " she said. She was so hopeful, to most people it was annoying, but with Alex it didnt feel like that. She felt comfortable to be herself. Not that she didnt with other people, but it was a breath of fresh air to have someone as positive as her.

"Oh I doubt there'll be any more Griever out there, if they were made by WCKD. I didn’t get to see up close, but it looks like their bodies require moisture of some sort to function, maybe like a protective layer, and they wouldn’t have that in open air, away from the dampness of the Maze, and the sweat of the people they fought," Alex pointed out with a shrug. At least, she hoped she was on the right track with that! Grievers certainly weren’t a natural occurrence. Nobody could argue that logically,

"I’m sure there's other stuff out there, but hey, we won’t know what it is until we’ve made it out of here, will we?" She pointed out, and hope flickered once more into her sky-blue eyes.

"Just 'cause there’s a list of names up there doesn’t mean we WANT to add to it," Karter pointed out. Sure, he was absolutely terrified of Blaire when she was mad, but she also matched him pace for pace, in more ways than one. He respected and admired that. And she hadn’t hit him or declared that he was a traitor when he’d confided in her. When she spoke of the Griever though, the young Runner grinned. "Ohhh yes there is. Though it'd involve a bit of trickery on my end. Bendin' and stretchin' the truth. I didn’t think of that, but WCKD woulda seen everythin' that happened. If they took Bob back, they’d reprogram him."
