Zeth stared down at her textbook.

Celeste quickly read through the Reading section. It was only ten pages after all.

"We came from the US but didn't know that." Abbie said and shrugged.

[RoseQ]

"Now, the first thing we'll do is learn conversions between the imperial and metric system," Mrs. Scott said. She scribbled a few things on the board. One thing said 1 mi=1.6 Km.
"Alright, mi is what?" She said.

"Almost done everyone?" Mr. Thompson asked.

Christal went by what the teacher said to answer. "Mi means Mile." she said calmly.

"Correct," Mrs. Scott said. "So one mile is equal to one-point-six kilometers." She wrote: convert two kilometers to miles. "Convert that to the best of your ability and we'll check it."

Christal thought a moment and stared at the board blankly.
Abbie quickly worked out the problem in her mind. one point six times two is two point two.

"Alright, let's look at the problem," Mrs. Scott said. "It works like this. There are one point six kilometers in a mile. So if we're trying to figure out how many kilometers in two miles...." she wrote down 1.6X2.
"So, 3.2," she said.
