『𝐣𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲』
Jade's eyes snapped open to the strange sight of a dense canopy of foliage above her and the unforgiving firmness of the dirt beneath her. Quite odd, she thought, seeing as she was most definitely sure that she had fallen asleep in her own bed and not on the ground. One thing was for sure, though: her head was killing her. Clutching her head in pain, she slowly managed to sit up and further take in her surroundings. There was no sign of anyone else around... not even footprints upon the soil. Interesting. Who could have possibly taken her from the comfort of her home and dumped her in the middle of the Twelveswood? Well, she supposed, she just teleport back to the nearest aetheryte in Gridania and go from there. But as she attempted to cast Teleport, Jade was having a particularly hard time finding an aetheryte that she was attuned to. Which was... unnerving, to say the least. So she tried again. And again. These attempts proved in vain, though, as Jade soon found that there were no aetherytes she could detect. Jade's eyebrows furrowed as her ears flattened to the sides of her head, quite puzzled. So, if she wasn't in the Twelveswood, then where was she? She rose a hand to her ear, tapping her linkpearl, a small piece of technology used to communicate with her allies. And while she had expected to hear at least some sort of feedback or staticky hissing, which would at least let her know the linkpearl was still functional, Jade heard naught but a deafening, deeply unsettling silence.
The silence was broken by a sudden rustling noise coming from nearby shrubbery. Her feline ears swiveled toward the source of the noise. Jade quickly rose to her feet, clutching her cane, arming herself, and pivoting toward the source of the noise in one fluid motion. Eyes fixated on the bush, her tail begin to nervously twitch. But alas, the rustling noise was nothing... but a harmless little rabbit. It looked up at her with a vacant expression with glossy black eyes before scurrying away. Phew.
"well," she began to idly muse, "i might as well do a bit of exploration to see where exactly i am..." Jade grasped her cane in one hand, using it as sort of a walking stick as she traversed the thick blanket of haze before her. Narrowing her eyes, she zeroed in on a faint yellow-white light flickering in the distance, shining through the mist. As she approached, she was greeted with the sight of a cobblestone pathway lined with candle-lit lanterns. Aha! Her ears and tail perked up slightly at her fortunate find. Maybe it lead to a settlement, she thought, where she could get some sort of knowledge as to where exactly she was. Jade's heels clacked upon the pavement as she sauntered down the path, stumbling blindly through this strange new world. In a way, it reminded her of the time she spent as a brand-new adventurer in the realm of Eorzea. She smiled with a strange sort of sentimentality to nobody in particular as she reminisced on those halycon days.
