A medium-sized brown and white owl landed before Remus, causing the boy's expression to turn into a surprised one; he obviously had not been expected an owl. The boy took the letter from the owl slowly, then began to open it.

Dear Remus,

We do hope you are enjoying yourself at Hogwarts; is is everything you'd expected and more? We both know you will do well there. Has anyone asked any...questions, yet? If so, we have a feeling you handled it properly, as instructed. We know the moon is coming soon, so we hope that your first time at Hogwarts goes all right; it should, considering all of the precautions that are being taken.
Again, hope all is going well and we hope to hear back from you soon.

With love,
Your parents.

Remus studied the letter before slipping it silently and quickly into his robes. He sure didn't want anyone reading that, it gave too much information away, what with the talk of the moon and all. He had figured it would be something like that, though. Remus looked over just in time to see Sirius crumple up his letter and smile grimly. "At least it wasn't a Howler," he said quietly. He wondered faintly what the letter had said, though.

James found himself untying(sp?) and letter from an older-looking Barn Owl that had landed in front of him. He opened the letter, quickly skimming over everything. Just a lot of 'hope everything is going all right' and 'we miss you' and 'do behave yourself' kind of stuff. Boring. James tossed the letter to the table with a yawn, his expression clearly tired.

"I wish it had been," Sirius said bitterly, his dark eyes glittering with fury. How dare they try to force him to obey their 'wishes'! He was quite sure he would get a Howler soon when he responded, though. He threw the letter down on the table as if it contained diseases. "You can read it," he said disgustedly. "I don't care."

Lily finished her toast and looked expectantly at the staff table. Her feelings of nervousness had worn off now, replaced by her previous eagerness. "Look!" she cried, poking James madly - she couldn't help it - as she pointed to one of the teachers, who was handing out sheets of paper. Up close, she saw that they looked like schedules.

Remus shook his head; it wasn't his buisness, so he wasn't going to read it. It would feel like an invasion of privacy, even if Sirius had given him permission to look at it. "Er, I'll pass," he responded quietly. He looked up to see the older woman who had been calling the names of the first years the previous night walking around the Gryffindor table, handing out schedules. "I wonder what the classes here will be like," he said, wishing to change the subject.

James flinched as he was suddenly being poked by Lily. "Ouch-quit it, will you?" he said, shying away from her slightly. He looked up, just as the woman came forward and handed James one of the papers, then did the same to Lily. He looked down at the schedule, beginning to scan over it.

((I have vacation this week, so I should be on every day for at least an hour. :3))

Sirius shrugged. "Okay, then." He watched the stern-looking woman for a moment. "I hope they're fun," he said. "And that the teachers are nice enough," he added as he watched the woman's apparently permanently strict expression.

Lily immediately ceased, not out of James' protest, but because the woman had just handed her a schedule. She examined the sheet of paper thoroughly, already trying to commit it to memory. "Oh, oh, Potions looks like fun!" she exclaimed, even though she had never even gotten some sort of hint about what it might be like. "And Defense Against the Dark Arts! And Transfiguration! Oh, especially Transfiguration!"

(( Woot. :3
Bahhh, I keep forgetting to add the size! Silly me. D: ))

Remus looked down at the paper when it was handed to him. "Well, judging by the expression of that woman, I don't believe her class will be very fun." Remus made sure to keep his voice low, to keep the woman from hearing. He didn't want to get into trouble at this school, let alone on the very first day.

James put the schedule down next to his plate with a shrug. "I doubt any of the classes will be fun, if all of the professors are like her." James gestured with his head towards the woman handing out the papers, his eyes slightly narrowed. "What did she do, suck on a lemon?"

((x3))

Sirius watched the woman as she passed out the schedules to the last of the people. "Maybe she's nicer than she looks," he put forth hopefully. "I mean, appearances aren't everything... right?" He did very much doubt it in the woman's case, though. He looked down at the schedule. "We have History of Magic first," he stated.

Lily frowned at him. "C'mon, she can't be all that bad," she said sourly. "Lemons aren't that bad, either," she added as an afterthought in defense of lemons. She liked lemony stuff, anyways. "And even if she is, I doubt all of them will be like that." She found herself looking over at the Slytherin table, trying to catch a climpse of Severus.

(( I'm super sorry for not replying sooner. D: I was working on an essay.
Oh, and shall we have James and Sirius sit together in History of Magic? That way they can get to know one another? And then maybe Peter and Remus can sit beside one another, so they can get to know each other? :3 It's up to you. ))

Remus shrugged. "Usually they are, though," he repsonded with a grim smile. It was the truth; if it weren't for appearances, many people wouldn't get anywhere. And Remus knew first hand what it was like to have gotten the short end of that-many people judged him for his appearance. "I hope that is at least fun, although it doesn't sound very exciting." Remus knew he shouldn't just assume that a class was boring, just because of what it was about.

James scoffed. "I am quite sure that when someone looks like that, they are all that bad." He stood up, rolling his shoulder slightly. "And maybe they will all be like that, although I'm hoping they aren't." He grabbed his bag, then shoved his hands into the pockets of his pants. "I think I'm going to start heading down to class, because I have a feeling it is going to take some time finding my way to it." With a school like Hogwarts being as huge as it was, James had no idea how he was ging to find any of his classes.

((It's alright. :3 I should have replied sooner, too. :c
And sure, that's fine with me!))

Sirius sighed, feeling deflated. "I for one don't think it will be fun at all," he said, his tone rather sour. "It even sounds boring. And maybe the teacher is like her." At the end of this announcement, he nodded his chin toward the woman who had passed out their schedules. He looked back down at the paper. "After that, we have Charms. That sounds cool, at least," he added more brightly, continuing to make judgments.

Peter looked at his schedule curiously. Well, it appeared that he had History of Magic first. He sighed. Hopefully he would like it. He stood up, deciding he would try and find the classroom right away; he was bound to get lost somehow. He didn't even know where the classroom was.

Lily shrugged. "Suit yourself," she said without looking up from her schedule. It made sense to leave early, but she was content right where she was. After all, she reasoned, she could just follow some other first-years and hope that they knew what they were doing... right? The sensible part of her told her that that course of action was bound to backfire, but she ignored it as she often did.

Remus felt his nose crinkle slightly as he made a disgusted expression. "Well, if all of the teachers here walk around looking like they have a pole stuck up their backside, then I don't believe being here will be as fun as I thought it would be." He shook his head, his eyes flicking over the words on the schedule. "Yeah, so does Transfiguration and Potions," Remus agreed with a slight nod.

James began to walk out of the Great Hall. He couldn't help but shoot a glance back towards the Slytherin table, in search of Snivellus. There he was, looking towards Lily like a lost puppy. James scoffed and rolled his eyes, looking away. What did she see in that dirtball, anyway?

Severus stood, his eyes narrowed. What was Lily doing sitting and talking to that Potter boy? Severus muttered something under his breath before grabbing his bag and following some of the other students out of the Great Hall. If Potter tried anything with Lily, he was dead. Severus had seen the way the other boy had looked at Lily and hadn't liked it one bit.

"Maybe we'll be able to turn things into pigs and stuff in Transfiguration," Sirius said brightly. "Isn't that what it is?" He watched as the students began to stream out of the Great Hall. "Maybe we should start getting to History of Magic," he said, nodding his chin toward the exiting people.

Peter spotted what looked like a group of first-years. Hoping they knew what they were doing, he followed close behind, casting nervous little glances around him as he did so. He looked down at the schedule clutched in his hands again.

Maybe it was time to leave the Great Hall, Lily decided. She hoisted her bag onto her shoulder, merging into the crowd of students pushing their way out. She spotted Severus a little ways away, and made her way over to him in what she hopes was an inconspicuous way. "What do you have next?" she asked, her voice low and her vivid green eyes bright.

((Do you think Professor Binns taught History of Magic in the Marauders' time?))
